Rubel Shelly: Water of the Word

Belief and water baptism saves or the Holy Spirit bubbling up as Holy Spirit baptism?

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman (John 4:1-42) Our rough, rough notes in review.

The Living Water as the Word or Spirit or Mind of Christ narrowly constricts Christian teaching and worship.

The urge for the Living Water to be the direct operation of the Holy Spirit gives the usurper undue power to teach false doctrine and claim that he is doing it "by the selection, training and empowerment by the sovereign grace of God."

This leaves the "audience" helpless and utterly destroys the power of the Spirit of Christ which inspired the entire Bible. This is the way to deny that Christ came in the "flesh" to deliver His power into Words understood by the human senses.

By denying the power of the Word as it has been delivered we do not give others the power to make up "doctrines" and COLOR IT CHRISTIAN.

Therefore, both "sides" have to keep their hands out of Christ's Water bucket and allow everyone to be refreshed by giving heed to the Word. This is the only truly "worship" concept involved witht the church where individuals "synagogues" or "schools" and not "worships" in the pagan ritual sense.

The Bible almost universally associates water which is the basis of all humanlife with the Word of Christ which He defined as spirit and life which we drink. Christ put the refreshing water symbol into His Words. Peter said that it is by "giving heed" to these words beginning with the prophets through the Spirit of Christ (1 Pet 1:11) that Christ the Morning Star rises in our heart.

By making this "water" into the subjective baptism of the Holy Spirit we destroy any standard for "testing the Spirits." Therefore, Peter and others insist that our teaching and "singing" be with the Word "as it has been taught." The reason is that the "many" which Satan will always get into dominant pulpits are teaching false doctrine to deliberately lead people to their "father" the Devil whom Jesus defined as a liar because he "speaks on his own."

The absolute law of the Synagogue permitted translation and discussion but outlawed "allegorizing" or applicating the Bible to "make it relevent to the times." Jesus identified the Pharisee as those who ignored the commands of God by making up his own and the purpose was to "pump up" the sermonizing with long-winded prayers and sermons on his road to "stealing houses of widows. And he identified the Devil as one who "spoke on his own."

The moment we begin to improvize our "worship" as giving heed to Christ by giving heed to His Word by doing book reviews or promoting heresy out of the latest pop psychology book we open up the process for the "spirits" to be the "spirits of demons" teaching lies.

Therefore, "keep it simple, stupid" does not mean, "keep it stupid, simple." Then the rest of us can test the spirits and if you deviate then we know that you are a false teacher.

Paul insisted that even if one presumes to be inspired in Corinth he should just sit down and shut up unless there is another inspired person to validate his "revelation." This had the effect of looking to Paul if they needed further instruction.

Because the object seems to be to make the living water into the Holy Spirit as a "worship experience" we will test the spirits to see that water and the "spirit" always speaks of the Mind of Christ which to us is in the Words of Christ.

Rubel Shelly: That unexpected request and response became the springboard for all that follows. "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' " Jesus said, "you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

At this point, we have come to the same impasse as Nicodemus and Jesus about being born "again" or "from above."

In chapter 3, Nicodemus is thinking "flesh-event" or "second chance to get things right down here"; Jesus is talking about "Spirit-event" or "one-and-only chance to experience life from above." In chapter 4, the woman is thinking "cold water from a deep well" or "my gift to Jesus"; Jesus is talking about "spiritual refreshment from above" or "God's gift to a woman of Samaria."

The Woman understood perfectly well that Messiah had a purpose driven life;
John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in [our] spirit and truth.”
John 4:25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes,” (he who is called Christ).
“When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”

Moses prophesied that there would be another prophet: Him ye SHALL hear.  The woman knew that the only worship ritual in the spiritual Jew's life was the study of the Word:

Acts 15:21 For Moses from generations of old
        has in every city
        those who preach him,
being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

The worship OF TRUTH declares the meaning of SPIRIT:

John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing.
The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
Jesus spoke of one born in the flesh needing to be born AGAIN of the human spirit. I don't know where Rubel Shelly got his translation. The NIV adds a footnote: a3 Or 'born from above'; also in verse 7. However, verse 7 is translated in the NIV as "born again." Born "again" speaks of the SECOND in the numerical sense and not the the ORIGIN of the birth. So agrees the NAS, NKJV, RSV (anew),

FALSE TEACHING: THERE IS NO IMPASSE. No one denies that we are saved by the BLOOD or by Jesus Christ. However, God uses human means for dispensing His Grace. We do not get a certificate of good faith without obeying God's Commands.

Jesus replied, "With all the earnestness I possess I tell you this: Unless you are born again, you can never get into the Kingdom of God. John 3:3LIV

The question is "how can Nicodemus a grown man be BORN AGAIN." The new birth does not involve the physical birth. Therefore, to be born again is to be born of water which involves water baptism: we are born OUT of the water.

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man (already born of the flesh)

be born of WATER (H20) and of the SPIRIT,

he CANNOT ENTER into the kingdom of God. John 3:5

How could one be baptized by the Holy Spirit while he CANNOT ENTER the kingdom?

Nicodemus confesses that God is with Jesus

The Greek word does not speak of the BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Again is:

Anothen (g509) an'-o-then; from 507; from above; by anal. from the first; by impl. anew: - from above, again, from the beginning (very first), the top.

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Mt.27:51

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Ja.3:17

Ano (g507) an'-o; adv. from 473; upward or on the top: - above, brim, high, up.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Col 2:10

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Col 2:11

John 3:31 He who comes from above is above all.
He who is from the Earth belongs to the Earth, and speaks of the Earth.
He who comes from heaven is above all.
Jesus as the Christ was sent "from Above" because there was NO MAN who could testify or be His Witness. Therefore, no presumptious person is born FROM ABOVE.
John 3:32 What he has seen and heard,
of that he testifies; [You are not a witness: you cannot testify.)
and no one receives his witness.  [US]
John 3:33 He who has received [CHRIST] his witness
has set his seal to this, that God is true.

You cannot do that:

John 3:34 For he whom God has sent
        speaks the words of God;
for God gives the Spirit without measure.
John 3:35 The Father loves the Son,
and has given all things into his hand.
John 3:36 One who believes [obeys] in the Son has eternal life,
but one who disobeysa the Son won’t see life,
but the wrath of God remains on him.

Matt. 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain
        from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

g509 Anothen
From Above is used in some passages but the meaning is clear.
Luke 1:3 it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things
accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus;
James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you?
Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
James 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart,
don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth.

James 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above,
but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
James 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle,
reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

How and when?

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col 2:12

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Col 2:13

IF ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Col.3:1

Rubel Shelly: In chapter 3, Nicodemus is thinking "flesh-event" or "second chance to get things right down here"; Jesus is talking about "Spirit-event" or "one-and-only chance to experience life from above." In chapter 4, the woman is thinking "cold water from a deep well" or "my gift to Jesus"; Jesus is talking about "spiritual refreshment from above" or "God's gift to a woman of Samaria."

Nicodemus was speaking of PHYSICAL BIRTH but Jesus taught Him about birth of WATER and SPIRIT or Water and the WORD.

Because both the PLACE of Gerezim and the PLACE of Mount Zion was the PHYSICAL PLACE for worship in fleshly ordinances, Jesus told the woman that the new PLACE was in the human spirit. This is the only PLACE where God seeks worshipers who have been washed internally and externally. Worship in Spirit, according to Paul, was in the SPIRIT. The only resource for worship in truth was to give heed to God by giving heed to HIS words and not the words of a man like Timothy who was instructed by Paul. The TIMES OF REFRESHING is identical to having A holy spirit so that we can meet God, one at a time and without any TEAMS to escort us, in our own mind. The ABOVE is a rebirth of the MIND or SPIRIT.

The only thing the woman could take with her in worship would be the WORD which Jesus says is SPIRIT and LIFE to the person who is born AGAIN.

Rubel Shelly: Have you ever noticed the Bible verse engraved on the baptistery platform in the foyer of this building?

The original suggestion someone made was to put Mark 16:16 on it
"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved."

But the verse eventually imprinted was from this text -

"The water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

The Lord's Supper is related to the
DEATH of Christ. We show forth or preach His death. However, only in baptism do we personally accept that death for OUR death. Therefore, the Lord's Supper is a form of the shedding of BLOOD for our sins. Form or anti-type means INSTEAD OF. Therefore, by putting the focus on water as the personal Holy Spirit this "holy communion" or Catholic "Eucharist" claims the Spirit without being baptized. Rubel Shelly's "supper" takes lightly the blood of Christ.

The Lord's Supper is a MEMORIAL and not a means of grace by which we get SPIRITUAL POWER gushing out as we eat the memorial to TEACH the death.

The seven spirits which would rest on Jesus Christ was not a third member of the Godhead who superceded Jesus Christ. Rather,

AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isa 11:1

The seven-branched Menorah in the Holy Place represented the seven spirits of Christ bring LIGHT and not excitement:

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; Isa 11: 2

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: Isa 11: 3

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath (same as holy spirit) of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Isa 11: 4

Not all receive the SPIRITS in a supernatural way.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1Co.12:8

Paul prayed:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Eph 1:17

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Eph 1:18

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Eph 1:19

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:20

Paul connects baptism to our faith in the same operation of God.

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col.2:12

Paul continued in the second chapter to connect this to our baptism:

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Eph 2: 4

Even when we were dead in sins, hath QUICKENED (regenerated) us together WITH Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Ephesians 2:5

And hath RAISED us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places IN Christ Jesus: Ephesians 2:6

Paul defined this as Baptism and not grace through faith WITHOUT baptism to accept that grace:

In Colossians

Buried with him in BAPTISM, wherein also ye are RISEN with him through the faith of the OPERATION of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col.2:12

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Col 2:13

And in Romans 6

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Rom 6:2

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Rom 6:3

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom 6:4

For if we have been planted together in the likeness (Form) of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Rom 6:5

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Rom 6:6

We will see later that the LIVING WATER is the word which overflows. The self hewn cisterns gush forth water because the are cracked potes.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:38

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:39

Belly means HEART in a figurative sense.

The HOLY SPIRIT does not live in our belly! Jesus showed that what comes out of a person relates to the mind or heart. The only thing which flows out is the WORDS of Christ which are spirit and life if one is regenerated:

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Matt 15:16

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? Matt 15:17

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. Matt 15:18

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false blasphemies: Matt 15:19

In another sense, what flows out of the belly in the sense of the inner man is the Word of God OR it is the words of the Devil who "speaks on his own."

Jesus Christ in Spirit form was the ANOTHER or fuller Comforter who would GUIDE the apostles into all truth:

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:18

Paul will say in 1 Cor 2 that The Holy Spirit is to God what our spirit is to us. Therefore, what humans receive is not to become A SECOND INCARNATION: OUR spirit will become holy because we have the MIND OF CHRIST.

Pneuma (g4151) pnyoo'-mah; from 4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by anal. or fig. a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by impl.) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, doemon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit: - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Comp. 5590.

What flows from our belly or spirit or innermost being is the WATER OF THE WORD.

Paul who was an EARTHEN VESSEL which holds water better than a wineskin, said that the Lord's Supper is where we SHOW FORTH or "preach" the DEATH of Christ. It is not a new agapae which was a pagan feast WITH and FOR dead ancestors rather than preaching Jesus Crucified. When Jesus meets with us it is said that He will evangelize and grieve with us about His DEATH:

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church (ekklesia or synagogue) will I sing praise unto thee. Heb.2:12

Preach the gospel: Apaggelo (g518) ap-ang-el'-lo; from 575 and the base of 32; to announce: - bring word (again), declare, report, shew (again), tell.

Sing is not singy-clappy but: Apalgeo (g524) ap-alg-eh'-o; from 575 and algeo , (to smart); to grieve out, i.e. become apathetic: - be past feeling

Rubel Shelly: But the verse eventually imprinted was from this text -

"The water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Can you see how the table shared with the agapae has taken the BLOOD off and put WATER in its place? Again, the Lord's Supper is done in remembrance which means to PREACH the death of Jesus Christ. That, surprise, surprise, is where the BLOOD was shed. There is no connection between the Lord's Supper and the Holy Spirit as a Rubel Shelly "third member of the family of god."

We honor the final resurrection of Christ in BAPTISM which is a burial in water.

The BAPTISMAL WATER everyone USED was H20: the water which comes down from RAINS. The WATER OF THE WORD is free of charge (Isaiah 55), is not connected to baptism but to the WORD of God which false profits repackages and retails.

We have noted in other reviews that John York and Rubel Shelly claim that the Israelites in the wilderness were "baptized by the Holy Spirit." Furthermore, this becomes a pattern for Christian worship and community. However, the Bible knows that they were "turned over to worship the starry host because of their musical idolatry."

Going further, they CLAIM that the Corinthians were also "baptized by the Holy Spirit."

Now, rather than connecting baptism to salvation as Jesus commanded and Paul preached, the "true" baptism is now a "well of water" or the Holy Spirit baptism with water baptism the Baptist baptism.

The truth is that an earthen vessel becomes a cistern which OVERFLOWS with what God put into it.

A cracked vessel GUSHES FORTH from the cracks its OWN teaching.

You will see what I mean later on.

However, in both Amos and Isaiah 5, the "wineskin" worship with instrumental music caused the people to hunger and thirst for the Word of God. The Word is the "drink" and Jesus is not promising the baptism of the Holy Spirit "person" meaning supernatural gifts. In the eucharist, as in pagan believer's baptism,

When the priest pronounces the words of consecration, he believes he:

"...reaches up to heaven and brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon the altar to be offered up again" (Faith of Millions, O'Brien, 243-244).

Later, we will hear Peter make some direct commands:

First, the Word of God is the only resource for worship in song or sermon.

Second, they Word cannot tolerate any further application, explication or expounding.

Third, because the Word is given by Christ the Spirit and to repudiate it as the resource for worship repudiates Christ. And to sell your body to "further expound" the Word of the Holy God of the Universe is to spit in His face.

Isaiah has God warning that His Word is His Water: if you don't allow the "water of the word cycle" to work then you are the restrainers of the waters?

JESUS CHRIST ILLUSTRATED THE MEANING OF BAPTISM as CONVERSION

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, Matthew 18:2

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become (be born) AS little children,

ye SHALL NOT enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3

JESUS TOLD NICODEMUS THE SAME THING USING BORN AGAIN

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mothers womb, and be born? John 3:4

The question is how can Nicodemus a grown man be BORN AGAIN. The new birth does not involve the physical birth.

John 3:5

Rubel Shelly says: "The water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" is the Holy Spirit. But Jesus said MY WORDS are SPIRIT and LIFE. You eat and drink the Word. Amos 5, 6 and 8 speaks of the extorting clergy who used wine, women and song to starve the people to spiritual death.

But, if Rubel Shelly is right, and WATER really means SPIRIT then what does SPIRIT mean? The word "and" or kai connects WATER + SPIRIT. Therefore, Bible 101aaa is flunked.

Jesus has connected being CONVERTED to BEING BORN of water and the Spirit. Henry George Liddell, Robert Scott, An Intermediate Greek-English Lexicon notes that what Jesus promised was A holy spirit at baptism and not the HOLY SPIRIT flowing out during communion:

Palingenesia 1 [genesis] a being born again, new birth; used by Cic. of his restoration after exile:-- hence, in NTest.,1. the resurrection.

2. regeneration by baptism.

Anazôgr-ęsis , eôs, hę, restoration to life

Unless God washes our spirits WHILE we are being baptized then--they CLAIM--God as pure or holy (wholly) Spirit comes to dwell in the TEMPLE of OUR spirit before it has been swept and washed by God.

purga-men ,

I. What was annually swept or washed from the temple of Vesta, i. e. the dirt or filth swept out, the sweepings, offscourings, Ov. F. 6, 713 and 227; v. stercus.--

II. A means of purgation, purification, or expiation: aquae, i. e. baptism

III. Purity, clearness,

regenera-tio , o-nis, f. [regenero] , a being born again, regeneration (eccl. Lat.), Aug. Civ. Dei, 20, 5; Vulg. Matt. 19, 28; id. Tit. 3, 5: lavacrum regenerationis, of baptism, Aug. Civ. Dei, 22, 8, 5.

Paliggenesia (g3824) pal-ing-ghen-es-ee'-ah; from 3825 and 1078; (spiritual) rebirth (the state or the act), i.e. (fig.) spiritual renovation; spec. Messianic restoration: - regeneration.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. Tit 3:3

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Tit 3:4

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,

by the washing of regeneration,

and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Tit 3:5

Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit does not need to be washed to be regenerated so that the Holy Spirit can live in our human spirit without which we CANNOT, SHALL NOT be able to worship God in the new PLACE of A holy spirit and not in BODY WORSHIP.

Palig-genesia , hę, rebirth, regeneration, of the world, palingenesias hęgemones, of Noah and his sons, Corp.Herm.3.3; of persons, beginning of a new life, eis p. horman Ph.1.159 , cf. Luc.Musc.Enc.7: hence of restoration after exile

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Peter 3:20

And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-- not the removal of dirt from the flesh,

but an appeal to God for a good conscience--

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21NAS

Therefore Jesus lays a stumbling block for those who would deny that baptism is necessary because it calls God a liar and marks one as a traitor.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not SHALL be DAMNED. Mark 16:16

"BELIEVETH NOT" means that they disobeyed by rejecting baptism.

Apisteo (g569) means to be unbelieving, meaning to disobey

Apistos (g571) disbelieving, i.e. without Christian faith, a heathen, untrustworthy (person), faithless, infidel.

"Rejected" means that they call God a liar and are still damned because they are still on Satan's team. Rejecteth is:

Atheteo (g114) means to DISESTEEM, DESPISE, disannul, frustrate, bring to nought, reject. It means a TREACHEROUS PERSON. It includes Kategoros an accuser, a BETRAYER.

> It cannot be repackaged, watered down and retailed:

HO, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Isaiah 55:1

Did you see the SYMBOL there: H20 or HO. The WATER is not the SPIRIT as a little person but the water is the WORD of God which gives Spirit and Life.

> It cannot be subject to "private interpretation" in explicating, applicating and further expounding:

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. Isaiah 55: 8

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55: 9

> God creates the water cycle: we can plant and water but the Water is what does the work but only if it is recycled through others who then return it to God in praise:

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: Isaiah 55: 10

> The water is personified: it is its own interpreter and preacher and you don't need "sister singers" to make it work:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it Isaiah 55: 11

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. Matt 15:18

> God's Spirit is upon us when His Words are in us. They do not get destroyed by going through the Shelly Sifter of time, philosophy and the Bible writers own personal agenda. They do not "wear out" just as the water of the flood is the same water we drink:

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the (1) Lord; (2) My spirit that is upon thee, and (3) my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seeds seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever. Is.59:21

The WORDS of God are preserved. A cracked pot or broken cistern causes HIS OWN WORDS to gush forth. Therefore, SELF-SPEAK and calling God a liar about baptism means that it CANNOT hold or retain the WORDS of God long enough to teach them "as they have been taught."

The Bible personifies THOUGHT, Truth and Spirit. Therefore, the Holy Spirit does not GUSH FORTH in any connection with the Lord's Table.

For the WORD of the (1) Lord is right; and all his works are done in TRUTH. Psa 33:4

By the (2) WORD of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the (3) BREATH of his MOUTH. Psa 33:6

Mouth: Peh (h6310) peh; from 6284; the mouth (as the means of blowing)

Breath is SPIRIT: Ruwach (h7307) roo'-akh, roo'-akh; from 7306; wind; by resemblance breath... by resemblance SPIRIT, but only of a rational being (includ. its EXPRESSION and FUNCTIONS)

Paul warned against those who bewitch by claiming to have the supernatural gift of revealing the word. Then, he identified the foolish bewitchers and rejecting baptism:

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes

Jesus Christ hath been
evidently set forth, crucified among you? Galatians 3:1

In the Greek world, rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents), singers and musicians were identified as sorcerers. Because they had not role to play in non-sacrificial systems, they were all PARASITES. They were SECTARIANS of the hypocrite tribe and condemned by Jesus.

John in Revelation warned against those who claim to be apostles by receiving the baptism of the holy spirit and therefore inspired:

Paul concludes that one receives the Spirit by hearing and believing the Word and obeying it:

This only would I learn of you,

Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law,
or (Received ye the Spirit) by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:2

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:26
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Gal 3:27

God, through Zechariah, shows how people so damage their spirits to such an extent that they no longer belong to God. Therefore, as He did the nation of Israel, He allowed them to walk in their own ways and worship like the nations.

But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Zechariah 7:11

They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry. Zechariah 7:12

Therefore it is come to pass, that

as he cried, and they would not hear;

so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts: Zechariah 7:13

See more about how the HOLY SPIRIT is ministered by TEACHING.

As a result of the musical idolatry at Mount Gerezim, where the Samaritan woman may or may not have attended, God warned against drinking the waters (word) of other nations.
Rubel Shelly: This is not the first time in John that water has been used to symbolize the fullness of life that comes to human beings as the "gift" (Gk, dorea) of God.

John is hardly the only New Testament writer to make this same connection between the gift of God's Spirit and heavenly renewal.

Do you know the promise of Acts 2:38? "Peter said to them, 'Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.' "

Do you recall the parallel statement from the same apostle at Acts 3:19?

"Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah appointed for you, that is, Jesus."

No. Water symbolizes the
Spirit or Mind of Christ which to us is the Word of Christ. The FULLNESS dogma is the charismatic or Pentecostal belief that we are personally a "second incarnation" of God Who IS pure or Holy Spirit. Christ "poured out" that Spirit on the day of Pentecost which was evidenced by the Apostles speaking the Word of God not only in the "dialects" of the Greek world but also its "tongues" or minor dialects. No "scholar" could do this and therefore it was a SIGN that the apostles spoke from Christ.

Our mind or spirit is renewed by the Spirit as we are renewed by the Word of the Spirit.

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Ep.4:23
And have put on the
new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Col.3:10

Neo is: Neos (g3501) neh'-os; includ. the comp. neoteros , neh-o'-ter- os; a prim. word; "new", i.e. (of persons) youthful, or (of things) fresh; fig. regenerate: - new, young

Renewed is: Anakainoo (g341) an-ak-ahee-no'-o; from 303 and a der. of 2537; to renovate: - renew.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,

by the washing of regeneration,

Loutron (g3067) loo-tron'; from 3068; a bath, i.e. (fig.) baptism: - washing.

No one is ever said to be WASHED by the Spirit. However,

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Ep.5:26

and renewing (anakainosis) of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3:5

Paliggenesia (g3824) pal-ing-ghen-es-ee'-ah; from 3825 and 1078; (spiritual) rebirth (the state or the act), i.e. (fig.) spiritual renovation; spec. Messianic restoration: - regeneration.

The SPIRIT is not shed by the Spirit as a third member of Rubel Shelly's polytheism. Rather, Paul says that the Holy Spirit is to God what our spirit is to us and he concludes "but we have the MIND of Christ."

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; Tit 3:6

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Tit 3:7

Justified is the Greek:

Dikaioo (g1344) dik-ah-yo'-o; from 1342; to render (i.e. show or regard as) just or innocent: - free, justify (-ier), be righteous.

This word means "freed from sin" and the same Paul says that this is accomplished at baptism. Why? because the only way WE can be freed from sin is to be CLOTHED with Christ:

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom 6:4

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Rom 6:5

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin Rom 6:6

For he that is dead is freed (Dikaioo g1344) from sin.Ro.6:7

If we are NOT regenerated at the time and place of baptism then we are still DEAD MEN WALKING because we call God a liar and this is the MARK that people are very happy to remain on Satan's team.

The HOLY SPIRIT hath not flesh and bones and needs no WASHING OF REGENERATION. Neither does the HOLY SPIRIT need renewing. The SPIRIT being renewed is the HUMAN spirit. 1 Peter 3:21 says that baptism is not a body wash but the TIME and PLACE where we REQUEST A clear conscience or consiousness. A clear conscious answers to the gift of A holy spirit in Acts 2:38. The SPIRIT does not move into Rubel Shelly's carnal body as proven by the fact that the spirit OF Christ would speak what "he" heard from Christ. In the same way, Jesus the "son" spoke only what He heard from the "father" who dwelled within as THOUGHT.

Now the Holy Spirit as God does not need renewed. Therefore, the "new man" created in us is the renewal of OUR spirit to make it holy or sanctified for His service.

Jesus Christ sets up two FORMS to show that without BAPTISM which means CONVERSION you CANNOT, SHALL NOT enter the kingdom, Luke now shows by the same two forms that baptism confirms the STUMBLING BLOCK for those who would be traitors and not suitable for the eternal kingdom of God in another dimension.

Jesus said that unless you be converted and become AS a little child you SHALL NOT enter the kingdom.

He told Nicodemus unless he was born of WATER and SPIRIT he CANNOT enter the kingdom

Luke recording the actions of Peter showing that being CONVERTED is the same as being saved or having sins remitted:

He that believeth

Then Peter said unto them, Repent,

Repent ye therefore,

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Pet 3:20

and is baptized

and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ

and be converted,

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body 1 Pet 3:21a

shall be saved;

for the remission of sins,

that your sins may be blotted out,

but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Pet 3:21b

but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mk 16:16 [because the evil spirits have not been replaced with the 7 spirits of Christ all relating to knowledge: able to keep from GUSHING OUT of cracked pots.]

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

[Your spirit is still unholy because it is unwashed]

when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Acts 3:19

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 Pe 3:22
Can Rubel Shelly take pay for telling people that "your sins may be blotted out" SO THAT you can become CONVERTED? Or that God the Spirit will meet us in the PLACE of our spirit before HE sweeps out the demons?

We are wise enough to know that the ultimate source of our salvation is God. However, God Whose methods we are too quick to criticize insists that He has the power to put His salvation is water:

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Pe.3:20

Paul used Isaiah 28 to explain "speaking in tongues" in Corinth. Their primary sin was singing their own songs out of their own "spirit" rather than giving heed to the Word of Christ. God warned:

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing (REST): yet they would not hear. Isaiah 28:12

But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Isaiah 28:13

Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Isaiah 28:14

"Jerusalem" stands for Sodom, Mt. Sinai, Egypt, Babylon or Nashville."

The Meaning of Refreshing:

The refreshing is not "exhilaration in worship caused by the Spirit inside of your body." That is some other physical or emotional abnormality: a good psychologist might help.

In Acts 3:19:

Andronikos (g408) an-dron'-ee-kos; from 435 and 3534; man of victory; Andronicos, an Isr.: - Andronicus.

Nikos (g3534) nee'-kos; from 3529; a conquest (concr.), i.e. (by impl.) triumph: - victory.

Therefore, this means a triumph but not "water pouring from heaven." We become new creatures because Christ transfers us into a spiritual kingdom.

In Acts 2:38 this is not the gift of the personal 1/3 godhead to live in our carnal body. Rather, the "Holy Spirit" is the Mind of Christ according to Paul in 1 Cor. 2.

To have the Mind of Christ means that we have His Spirit which is His mental disposition.

Peter used the word "clear conscience" which means that our consciousness is cleared of all obstacles so that we become a co-perceiver with Christ through His Word.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation (creation); the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Co.5:17

And again:

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Tit.3:5

The Holy Ghost as a "person" does not need renewing. Therefore, Walter Scott agrees with the Bible and history that this is A personal holy spirit after it has been washed by water and the Word:

And have put on the new self (new birth), which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Col.3:10

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Col 3:11

The new "worship" does not demand that we all affirm the Samaritans and Gentiles. It simply means that all old traditions are set aside so that you can worship by giving heed to the Word of Christ which is Spirit which is that which is written:

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Col 3:15

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col 3:16

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name (authority of) of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Col 3:17

The Samaritans and Jews used "music" in their temple system and in the worship of idols to which God had turned them over. Therefore, Paul did not hint at a "musical" word in connection with spiritual worship of God.

Rubel Shelly: Repentance does not lead to baptism.

It leads to the

gift of the Holy Spirit,
to times of refreshing from God's presence,
to a personal relationship with Jesus Messiah! .

Jeremiah and Jesus contradicted this:

Therefore this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. Je.15:19

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Jer 13:3

If you are stealing from the purses of widows and hard working people, and if you repent, you just quit stealing tithes and offerings. That does NOT cause the HOLY SPIRIT to enter into your body.

Jesus said, if you accept my counsel then I will forgive your sins. Jesus called that being saved and Paul called it the forgiveness of sins. There is no supernatural "perfectionism" or "FULLNESS" required to be born like a tiny little baby who knows just about nothing:

First: This is what I find in my Bible:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16

Second: And Peter thought that repentance led directly to Baptism. No one is said to have received the HOLY GHOST by believing:

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ

for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit Ac.2:38

Conclusion: If the "logic" of Rubel Shelly is correct (and all of history is wrong and therefore "all who came before him were thieves and liars") then one is saved BEFORE BELIEVING. And gift of A personal spirit which is holy comes BEFORE sins are forgiven. This says that the spirit of God dwells in our heart or mind BEFORE the demons are swept out.

There can be no personal "holy spirit" able to interact with Christ the Spirit until our sins are forgiven.

Repentance and baptism leads to the forgiveness of sins.

This removes the rubble from our eyes so that we can have a clear or co-perception with Christ.

This is the "gift of A holy spirit" or purified MIND.

This does not lead to a supernatural experience in worship. Rather:

Fulness or perfection is only in Christ Jesus

Jesus didn't come as "lil ole winemaker or wine drinker" or provider of a sexual stimulus or "exhilarated worship experience." Jesus is first of all Rabbi or Master teacher: He is the only one with a Phd and we are not ritual worshipers but STUDENTS. We shall all be taught of and by God.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: Matt 7:28

For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matt 7:29 [Book writers and peddlers]

Jesus comes as Divine Teacher and not Worship Leader or Preacher:

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. John 12:44

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. John 12: 45

I am come a light into the world, that

whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. John 12: 46

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Ps.119:130

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isa 8:20

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 2 Pet 1:19

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. John 12: 47

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:

the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12: 48

This is true because the Word of Christ is the Word of God:

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. John 12: 49

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John 12: 50

The historical "trinity" is often explained as the THOUGHT is the father, the WORD is the Son and the Spirit is the breath by which God speaks through a human being. Therefore, the FATHER as Thought spoken by the WORD as Son said that:

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

The "son" is defined by his speaking the thoughts of the "father." Jesus said that the Devil was a liar because he spoke ON HIS OWN.

Dr. Shelly can say that: "Repentance does not lead to baptism."

One might as well say that "hearing does not lead to belief."

And that is what Calvinism says: even faith is a gift which you cannot get from hearing the Word of God.

Rubel Shelly: Baptism is significant along the path that leads from repentance to new life, but baptism is a means to an end and not an end in itself.

Baptismal regeneration is a doctrine nobody in our tradition ever set out to teach, I am sure. Yet teach it we did by offering baptism as the end of a conversion process.

We truly doubt that anyone has ever been instructed that "
baptism is the end of the process." Peter said that it is at baptism that we REQUEST A clear conscience or A holy spirit. The Bible never gives a NEW BIRTH simply by believing Rubel Shelly's seven facts ABOUT JESUS or now Just Jesus. Here is what the Bible inspired by God Incarnate inspired at His FIRST and only INCARNATION:

The beginning or most important part of the gospel Mark 1. Which ones of these do we receive by REPUDIATING baptism and claiming Zwingli's lie of faith-only.

Forgiveness of sins Acts 2:38
Washing away of sins Acts 22:16
Salvation: Mark 16:16;Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21
Entering Christ: Galatians 3:27; Romans 6:3
Becoming as little children
Being born again: John 3:3-5
Being saved by Faith Gal 3:26 By baptism Gal 3:27
Being clothed with Christ: Galatians 3:27
Showing forth the glory of Christ Ephesians 2
Being Washed by Jesus Christ Ephesians 2
Being laundered Mark 1
Union with Christ's death: Romans 6:3
Sharing his resurrection: Romans 4-5
Receiving the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:38-39
Entering Christ's Body:1 Corinthians 12:13
An appeal for a good conscience before God:1 Peter 3:21
Having our heart sprinkled WHEN our body is washed.
Entering into the security of the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit:Matthew 28:19

However, in this writer's experience, baptism is the end of the baptism process. You have to make a deliberate decision to change your direction based on believing evidence before you can turn from facing away from God to turning toward God.

You have to repent to truly believe. Only if you have an interest in changing your own direction to God's direction can you listen and hear with faith.

You might as well say "the faith is significant but it is just a means to an end." However, Jesus didn't not make "a personal relationship" as the end of the process of baptism but salvation or the forgiveness of sins. There can be no relationship until you have been forgiven. But forgiveness is not just a "significant" step of the process: it is vital.

Jesus made it simple: if you want your sins forgiven you cannot be like the Jews who "rejected the counsel of God for their lives by not being baptized." No true magic: Jesus tells you to be baptized if you have decided to turn.

He said, if you accept my counsel then I will forgive your sins. Jesus called that being saved and Paul called it the forgiveness of sins. There is no supernatural "perfectionism" or "FULLNESS" required to be born like a tiny little baby who knows just about nothing:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16

So, in the mind of Christ before His doctrine got sifted baptism was necessary not only to salvation but to keep from being damned.

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit Ac.2:38

Peter replied, "Repent... for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit Ac.2:38Shelly

Can you imagine the Acts 2:38 crowd quoting this: "Repent and be baptized" without saying why? Never heard it.

After you have become a disciple of the ONLY TEACHER does He agree to give you A holy spirit or mental disposition so that you can grasp His fuller instructions. The Christian life is "giving heed" to Christ through His Word and not a concentric set of five circles to get into the cultic inner circle of a Willow Creek or a Saddleback.

Yes, baptism is the end of the process envisioned in the Great Commission given by Jesus and carried out by Peter, Paul and the rest of the true evangelists. Being inducted as a student of a master tent maker involved baptism into loyalty to the teacher. That process ended at baptism and the instruction in tent making just begins.

You are not baptized to be inducted into a carnal system "offering" you worship as the only important part of the Christian system which has not been Shelly Sifted. You are inducted into discipleship to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only Teacher and He is silenced if we are not able to say "Amen" or "The Lord has spoken" for everything we teach.

The Jews were inducted into the Synagogue. This was not a pagan "worship center" for sucking in fodder with Holy Entertainment. The synagogue was only for those who wanted to be taught the Revealed Word of God. They did not "preach" proof texts but explained the Bible as one would teach a Physics book.

If your disciples are inducted to a "holy spirit worship ritual" where music moves you into the presence of God then you have hatched you a pagan worship center but it is not a Christian Synagogue. Ritualized music in a Synagogue or Ekklesia would bring ridicule on anyone who tried it. And if male theatrical performers of rhetoric or music stood up to perform publically they would have so perverted their own character that they would be laughed out or tared and feathered. One does not "perform" in a class room where God is the only Teacher.

You don't need a Phd to grasp this: when the baby is BORN the birth process is absolutely at the end.

Now, if you don't feed it but entertain it then you will have fallen back into the fatal beyond-redemption of the musical idolatry at both Gerizim and at Jerusalem. You will have dried up the Water of the Word and they will hunger and thirst even as they do the dance of death with the women "tabering on their breast" as a musical instrument.

Rubel Shelly: Digging a well, tying a bucket to a rope, and drawing out water is a human process I can achieve; living water that would eliminate the thirst of my heart for God and gush up to eternal life is something God alone can provide.

Baptism in water is something I can teach, arrange, and administer; the gift of God's Spirit that refreshes a sinner's heart and links that heart to the dynamic power of Jesus is something only God can provide.

Dying on a cross is a human process: something we can all do. However, it would have no merit unless we were God Incarnate. God supplies the water (the
word) at the end of an exceedingly DEEP WELL made dark because Christ spoke in parables from the foundation of the world to keep spiritual truth out of the hands of the professionals (Isa 48)

Paul said that because of the idolatry (musical) at Mount Sinai, the Jews told God not to speak to them any more. Therefore, God anwered their prayer and according to 2 Cor 3 would never let them "drink" a drop until they 'turned to Christ.'

So, the water is still at the bottom of the well where God put it. It is supernatural power of life with no power if the people are made thirsty by the "musical performers" taking away the key to knowledge.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14

Jesus Christ died in order to become our Master Teacher. It was prophesied that He would give spiritual light to the blind:

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Is.2:3

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Jn.7:38

And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. Zec 14:8

Jesus told the woman at the well that the new PLACE of worship is the human spirit as it gives heed to the Word or Spirit of Truth. Notice what the woman knew without a Phd:

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. John 4:25

Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. John 4:26

Jesus said that the WATER is the WORD. Furthermore the spirit of Christ or mind is what gives LIFE and SPIRIT:

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Jn 6:63

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life Jn.6:68

The WATER is always the WORD. That is why baptism of WATER and SPIRIT is the same as WATER and the WORD:

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Ep.5:26

And if you deny that you have committed the unforgivable sin and are near to cursing:

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and

have tasted of the heavenly gift, and
were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb 6:4
And have tasted the good word of God, and
the powers of the world to come, Heb 6:5

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Heb 6:6

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: Heb.6:7

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. Heb 6:8

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. Heb 6:9

If we don't drop the bucket and pull it up the water will remain there by the determinate will of God unless we pull it up. Everything which exists is by the free grace of God. However, God will spit you out of His mouth if you repudiate Him by repudiating the means He has supernaturally provided.

And also that every man should eat and drink, and
enjoy the good of all his labour,
it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:13

Now, almost supernatural power resides in the seed of a watermellon. However, if it sits over my sink window for ten years it will never give me FREE watermellons. I have to plant and water before God will give the increase. In the same way, I have to plant the seed and water the body before God will bestow his free grace.

Solomon was wise and said that watermellons are my God-given due:

Behold that which I have seen:it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him:for it is his portion. Ecclesiastes 5:18

Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and

to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 5:19

Because I did not help God create the universe and its laws, it is clear that everything which I receive is a free gift of God. However, those who bad mouth things God has instructed us to do for our own spiritual growth spew out the notion of obeying "commandments."

It is a total lack of faith to be so superstitiously loaded against FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE in letting God bestow His Grace according to His Will. Why are we so self-willed?

Rubel Shelly: Centuries before that day, Jeremiah had spoken to Israel for Yahweh: "My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living water, and dug out cisterns for themselves, cracked cisterns that can hold no water" (Jer. 2:13).

Remember that Rubel Shelly has declared that the WATER is the Holy Spirit. He leads us to a direct condemnation of HIRED APOSTLES who gush forth their own thoughts as from cracked pots.

The land of Canaan was totally free: the land renters paid a tithe of the food crops. Ten percent went to the tribe of Levi for all governmental taxes. The Levites gave a tithe of a tithe or 1% for the teaching priests. In another symbol, the nation was God's "vineyard" but they destroyed it with wine, women and music.

Now, look further at Jesus speaking of the WATER which was His Words which ARE spirit and life. He was not promising that the Holy Spirit would gush out of the woman:

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. John 4:34

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest John 4:35

And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. John 4:36

And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. John 4:37

I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours. John 4:38

Here is the test of those who claim to replace the words of Christ:

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. John 4:39

After the kingdom was in place Philip went to preach to the Samaritans:

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:12

Those who were whelmed with the Spirit proven by their speaking in dialects did so ONLY when the apostles came and laid hands on some of them.

Here is the purpose for which Christ came:

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world,

that I should bear witness unto the truth.
Every one that is
of the truth heareth my voice. John 18:37

Jesus came to preach the WORD and to TEACH or indoctrinate. To do that he had to GO OUT. THOSE WHO claim to KNOWN CHRIST will do the same thing or they are not of the TRUTH.

AND it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. Mt.11:1

And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. Mk.1:38

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christs gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, 2Co.2:12

Jesus sent Paul out to do exactly this:

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Cor 1:13

I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; 1 Cor 1:14

Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 1 Cor 1:15

For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 1Co.3:4

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 1Co.3:5

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 1Co.3:6

CAN YOU GRASP THIS? Jesus preached and taught DOCTRINE. He said:

And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. John 4:37

I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours. John 4:38

Paul applied this to preaching the Gospel by PLANTING. He might or might not WATER but it is well proven that that PLANTING is in WATER when the WORD is preached. After the SIGNS of belief by the Apostles went into all nations, the people in Corinth may have been misled to believe that the GIFT of Spirit or Word was to all baptized believers. Paul identified them as MAD looking if they tried.

It is clear that the WORD of the gospel gushed forth from FAITHFUL planters or evangelists who, by the very definition, cannot be located missionaries according to Rubel Shelly who refuses to GO and plant THAT WHICH HAS BEEN TAUGHT.

But before Jeremiah said that he said this:

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof;

but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. Jer 2:7

The priests said not, Where is the Lord?

and they that handle the law knew me not:
the pastors (
elders) also transgressed against me,
and the
prophets prophesied by Baal,
and walked after things that do not profit. Jer 2: 8

Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the Lord, and with your childrens children will I plead. Jer 2: 9

For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing. Jer 2: 10

Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Jer 2: 11

Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. Jer 2: 12

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Jer 2:13

The seven SPIRITS which would rest on the Branch in Isaiah 11:1-4 all relate to the Words f knowledge, etc. None of them are 1/3 of the Godhead of Rubel Shelly's polytheism:

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain:

for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord,

as the waters cover the sea. Is.11:9

A cistern is defined as:

Bear (g874) baw-ar'; a prim. root; to dig; by anal. to engrave; figurative to explain: - declare, (make) plain (-ly).

Peter said that Scripture is inspired and is not there subject to private interpretation or "further expounding." Jesus defined the clergy as sons of the Devil because they speak on their own.

Those who dig out their own "songs and sermons" are diging cisterns which CANNOT hold the WATER of the Word.

Jesus said that the Pharisees invented their own TRADITIONS specificially so that they would not have to listen to the words of God.

Broken is shabar (h7665) which means to GUSH FORTH. The songs and sermons do not come from God but they gush forth from earthen vessels which have been crushed beyond use.

Therefore, the water was not supernatural power: the water was the Word of God put into the hands of the clergy with the absolute demand not to "veer off to the right or left." However, they used the Shelly Sifter and came up with their own Words.

As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool. Jer 17:11

A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. Jer 17:12

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters. Jer 17:13

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. Jer 17:14
Behold, they say unto me,
Where is the word (Dabar or Logos) of the Lord? let it come now. Jer 17:15

As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee. Jer 17:16

The direct command of Paul was to teach the word as it has been taught. Those even with a token respect for Jesus Christ as the FIRST and ONLY Incarnation could not tamper with His words or peddle them like Lucifer.

Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil. Jer 17:17
Let them be confounded that
persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed:

bring upon them the day of evil,
and
destroy them with double destruction. Jer 17:18

Thus said the Lord unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem; Jer 17:19

And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the Lord, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates: Jer 17:20

This is why Amos and Isaiah said that when the thirsted to death the spiritual water was the Word of God. The sin of drinking from foreign cisterns was the musical idolatry of both Gerizim and Jerusalem. A CRACKED CISTERN is an "earthen vessel" which absolutely CANNOT hold the truth long enough to get from the well to the pulpit.

Rubel Shelly: And Ezekiel had prophesied of a time when Yahweh would heal his people: "I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances" (Ezek. 36:25-27).

Paul in Hebrews speaks of the new spirit of flesh rather than stone in the prophets.

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; Heb 10:16

And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Heb 10: 17
Now where
remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Heb 10: 18

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, Heb 10: 19

Faith does not remit sins. Therefore, Peter began to show the meaning of A holy spirit only after baptism:

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the (A) Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Only God can sprinkle the spirit:

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having

our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience
and having our
bodies washed with pure water. Heb.10:22

In First Peter, Peter said the same thing:

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the (request for) a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 3:21

Or as the NIV connects baptism to the salvation purchased by Christ but made available only to those who REQUEST it:

(That, by the way, is what baptism pictures for us: In baptism we show that we have been saved from death and doom by the resurrection of Christ;[c]

not because our bodies are washed clean by the water but because
in being baptized we are turning to God and asking him to cleanse our hearts from sin.) 1 Pet 3:21LIV

By rejecting Baptism one rejects faith in the operation of God and probably denies the resurrection.

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col.2:12

Broken cisterns claim that baptism is not related to salvation. But, they deny that ONLY at baptism is God said to have ask him to sprinkle our hearts FROM an evil conscience.

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. 1 Pet 1:2

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Pet 1:3

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 1 Pet 1:4

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Pet 1:5

"Musical Teams" are often identified as "mediators between man and God." Or, the "lead the worshipers into the presence of God." This makes the "teams" into idols. And in church architecture, they are "standing in the holy place claiming to be God."

Therefore, when Jesus came to baptize with Spirit and Fire we have to stand clear because it is not pretty unless we see that "spirit" driving us to value and defend the Word of God rather than to marginalize Him by rejecting His Words:

Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: Ezek 36:18

MUSICAL WORSHIP IS POLLUTION WHICH MAY NEVER BE WASHED AWAY.

The Israelites were ecumenical: trying to become all things to all people:

And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone forth out of his land. Ezek 36:20

Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; ... wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an "opening wedge"); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute): defile, take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Ezek 36:21

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God;

I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel,

but for mine holy names sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. Ezek 36:22

And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. Ezek 36:23

For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Ezek 36:24

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols (log or Asherah pole). Ezek 36:25

When we have a "spirit or heart of flesh" that is just the way God created us able to commune with Him as pure Spirit. God did not put "a little man" in the people but softened their own heart to make them able to listen to God's WORD.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezek 36:26

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezek 36:27

If God put the Holy Spirit as a third person within you then God would seem to be WITHOUT a spirit. If God literally lived in your carnal body they YOU wouldn't have any choice.

Jesus defined Himself as "son" because He spoke the words of the "father." One has God's spirit or mind when one obeys God's commands. Those who deny that the Bible SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT COMMANDS cannot have God's holy Spirit in them.

He was assuredly not speaking about putting 1/3 of the Godhead into these people.

Rubel Shelly: We need more than water baptism. While it is commanded of God,

water baptism speaks more about cleansing from the past.
While the New Testament knows nothing of an unbaptized Christian,

water baptism testifies

to the washing away of one's previous sins. Saul of Tarsus, for example, was ordered to "be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name" (Acts 22:16).

In Baptist Calvinism, baptism cleanses from ORIGINAL SIN. However, for the future the Holy Spirit as a 1/3 God or person lives inside of the carnal body and gives us sinless perfection.

However, the Bible sees baptism just as it sees the death of Christ: once for all times, past, present and future.

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Rom 3:25

Paresis (g3929) par'-es-is; from 2935; proetermission, i.e. toleration: - remission.

If baptism spoke only of sin in the past tense then it would be no better than an animal sacrifice!

Doesn't this question the power of an infinite God?

If we sin then the remedy is defined to a baptized believer:

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Ac. 8:22

The blood of christ looks from eternity past to eternity future. Our sins are forgiven by the blood of Christ at one time:

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Heb 10:12

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. Heb 10: 13
For
by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Heb 10: 14

Many Calvinists ask the same question about the Death of Christ. If Christ died for our sins "past" then why doesn't He have to die again for our sins 2,000 years later? Without the shedding of blood there is no remission. We need to steer clear of "believer's baptism" which denies the power of Christ to reach FORWARD just as He reached BACKWARD.

So-called "believer's baptism" is quite identical to ancient pagan baptism. The death of Christ once for all is no more adequate in believer's baptism than it is in the Lord's Supper. The individual must suffer and die by living under the Law of Moses. Then, Christ comes to them personally and dies all over again for them.

Notice that when we read the Word revealed by the Spirit of Christ (1 Pet 1:11) we hear the Holy Spirit speak to us just as surely as if we heard an audible voice.

Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, Heb 10: 15

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; Heb 10: 16
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Heb 10: 17
Now where
remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Heb 10: 18

If our sins are not remitted after our baptism by that baptism then we are lost because Jesus is not going to die again in the Eucharist or in believer's baptism.

Not the preacher nor the musician nor the human mediating team Oh Lord. It is me as a virtual high priest who now can go into the holy place (naos) which is my mind (nous) or spirit all by myself without someone "offering" a worship ritual to "lead me into the presence of God." If anyone, especially a "musical" or noise making Levite attempts to go there God will slay him with the Sword of the Spirti and he will be dead, dead, dead:

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, Heb 10: 19

By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Heb 10: 20

The only way to get into the Holy Places is to be clothed with Christ as our garment or covering.

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Ga.3:27NIV

Christ the Man/Spirit stands at the boundary between the physical and spiritual dimensions. Only by just giving up the pagan attempts to reach through into holy ground is the "crowd" making the gate strait or constricted so that I can go in all by myself without you.

And having an high priest over the house of God; Heb 10: 21

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having

our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water. Heb 10: 22

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Heb 10: 23

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,

but the request for a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 3:21

When our bodies are washed we are baptized by the work of human hands. However, Christ then gives us the gift of A holy spirit which is cleansed so that we have a co-perception with Him.

Suneidesis (g4893) soon-i'-day-sis; from a prol. form of 4894; co- perception, i.e. moral consciousness; - conscience.

The once sacrifice becomes a possession of the baptized believer forever. Its power is there through repentance and prayer and not by entire sanctification.

Rubel Shelly: Finally John the Baptist had come to baptize with water but pointed beyond himself to one who would baptize with the Holy Spirit (John 1:29-34).

The baptism of WIND (spirit) and FIRE was to the viper generation not fit to be baptized in water. The context is of a violent wind (spirit) which separates the chaff from the grain to be burned up. The prophecies were of an outpouring of a spirit OF FIRE and a spirit OF JUDGMENT.

Matt. 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism,
he said unto them, O generation of vipers,
who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Matt. 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
Matt. 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father:
for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Matt. 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees:
therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Matt. 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance:
but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear:
he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Matt. 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand,
and he will throughly purge his floor,
        and gather his wheat into the garner;
but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Job 1:19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness,
and smote the four corners of the house,
        and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead;
and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Job 4:9 By the blast of God they perish,
and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

Psa. 33:6 By the [1] word of the [2] LORD were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the [3 breath of his mouth.
Is. 4:3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion,
and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy,
even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
Isa. 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion,
and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof
by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
Is. 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,
and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
and [1] he shall smite the earth with the rod of his [2] mouth,
and with the [3] breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Heb. 1:7 And of the angels he saith,
        Who maketh his angels spirits,
and his ministers a flame of fire.
2Th. 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed,
whom the [1] Lord shall consume with the [2] spirit of his [3] mouth,
and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Jesus never baptized with water because that was to be a human act of the faithful. When one submits to water baptism God purges out the OLD human spirit and gives one a NEW, holy spirit

After John and the disciples of Jesus showed the WAY, and after Jesus Christ fulfilled the PATTERN gospel of "baptism" in His death, He promised to return in Spirit (John 14:18) to guide the Apostles into all truth. John said that only Jesus Christ could wash our spirit and make it holy or pure.

After Pentecost people spoke of WATER baptism and the subsequent gift of A holy spirit. If we call it BAPTISM OF the body we know that it is the literal body which is whelmed or fully contacted by water. In the same way the baptism of the SPIRIT or the gift of A holy spirit speaks of the SPIRIT which belongs to the same BODY. Because John's baptism brought the REMISSION OF SINS God must have cleansed their spirits. However, Jesus Christ the Spirit would not give people His "mental disposition" or the "mind of Christ" until after Pentecost.

BAPTISM OF WATER: As a human, John the Baptist and Jesus through his disciples prepared the WAY among those who REPENTED and were baptized for the forgiveness of their sins.

1. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ Acts 2:38a

2. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, 1 Pet 3:21a

WASHING OF SPIRIT: However, only the ascended Christ could give baptized believers a "washed" new spirit so that they could become as "little children." This "baptism" does not give supernatural powers unless Jesus picked you to reveal His Word and die for your faith.

1. for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the (A) Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38b

2. but the answer (request for) of A good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Pet 3:21b

The word ANSWER was always understood in the sense that God called or invited us and we call back in answer. Our ANSWER is defined by the Greek as A REQUEST.

Everyone we know about being baptized were baptized IN water. If Rubel Shelly is correct then water has NO connection and should not be practiced. Beliving that one is baptized IN the Holy Spirit as a separated person repudiates the Holy Spirit whose name (singular) is Jesus of Nazareth. In order to fulfill all righteousness which is to FULLY PREACH BAPTISM Jesus was baptized in WATER. The Spirit was in Jesus Christ as He walked the earth. Therefore, He was not baptized in SPIRIT but in water: that found at places of MUCH WATER.

Again, Jesus said that MY WORDS are SPIRIT and LIFE. One who has A holy spirit has A clear conscience or consiousness. This means A co-perception with the WORD as written. Those who denounce baptism have their eyes blinded and CANNOT see or hear the SPIRIT in the Word of Christ to be used in song and sermon.

Jesus would also baptize WITH FIRE those who "believeth not" which made one into a traitor and an infidel. Most people grasp that after Pentecost when people heard the gospel they were not told to "call upon the name of the Lord." They were not told that they must be baptized by the Holy Spirit because Rubel Shelly told them to. Here is the historical response to the gospel:

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. Acts 8: 35

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Acts 8: 36

And Philip said (called), If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered (called back) and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 8:37

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:38

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:39

Jesus baptized or "overpowered" the upper room where the twelve apostles had their sleeping quarters. By "filling" the room they received powers. The symbol of that power was the tongues of fire which were sypbolic of speech. There were five greek languages but hundreds of "tongues." In order to prove that the apostles were Christ's agents, the overwhelming power was a SIGN which was manifested to the major groups of people or "nations." The even in the Cornelius even called Peter way back to Pentecost for anything similar. Then, the manifestation was Roman soldiers praising God in "tongues" which those who came with Peter could understand.

As a result of this supernatural sign, Peter was finally arm twisted into baptizing Gentiles.

Because Jesus sais that His Word was Spirit and Life (John 6:63) it is significant that these gifts were manifested in speech. In the Ephesian 5 and Colossiand 3 parallel the "Spirit" is the "Word." And throughout the Bible the Spirit speaks when the Word speaks.

Therefore, anyone baptized with the Holy Spirit in this sense would not get supernatural power to live a giddy life. The evidence of such a "baptism" would be the total love for and devotion to the Words of Christ and not the destruction of them.

Rubel Shelly: Baptism is a beautiful gift of grace that testifies to the cleansing that comes to believers

by the power of the blood of Christ. It is, after all, blood rather than water that brings about the washing away of sins (cf. 1 Pet. 3:21).

The salvation BY water which lifted Noah up and DROWNED the old sinners was a type: baptism is an antitype which is a PATTERN CAPABLE OF BEING IMITATED. That is why Peter speaks and we had better be silent:

1Pet. 3:21 The like figure whereunto
even baptism doth also now save us
(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
but the request FOR a good conscience toward God,)
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-- not the removal of dirt from the flesh,

but (baptism saves) an appeal to God for a good conscience-- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21NAS

This request or calling upon the name of the Lord is done only at baptism:

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou?
        arise, and be baptized,
        and wash away thy sins,
calling on the name of the Lord.

Jesus connected our salvation to WATER BAPTISM because we cannot be WASHED in His or our blood.

Rubel Shelly's "scholarship" repudiates the Bible and 1525 years of church history. Zwingli's arrogance was contageous in saing in effect that all scholars who came before HIM were thieves and liars. He invented FAITH ONLY which has no Biblical basis because "he that believeth and IS baptized shall be saved." However, he that BELIEVETH not will not be baptized because is an infidel who OBEYETH NOT in baptism.

Well, blood is literal and physical: so BLOOD doesn't cleanse us, does it, since Jesus took it into "heaven." To be cleanses means that GOD must, in His mind, cease to hold your sin against yo. So, it is the MIND of God which forgives. So, how and when does Christ WASH us with His blood? It is at the time and place of Water baptism because THERE and only there has God promised that we be crucified, buried, enspirited and resurrected WITH Christ.

The NIV seems to say (to those without spirit) that we are baptized as a PLEDGE (re Max Lucado) to be good boys. However, the word in Greek resources means A REQUEST for a holy spirit. Neither Max Lucado or Rubel shelly can be saved by pledging to be good. Peter said that baptism promises A holy spirit. In 1 Peter 3:21 we request A clear consiousness at baptism. I don't know where Rubel Shelly got THAT translation:

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of (request for) a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 3:21

And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you-- not the removal of dirt from the flesh,

but (baptism saves) an appeal to God for a good conscience-- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21NAS

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

We are not baptized in BLOOD but:

Baptisma (g908) bap'-tis-mah; from 907; baptism (techn. or fig.): - baptism.

It was the wisdom of Jesus Christ that he APPLIES the blood ONLY at the time and place of baptism. Rubel Shelly kows of no other place where He as a "fuller" takes away the crimson stain and makes us white as snow.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Ro.6:4

By repudiating the WATER Rubel Shelly repudiates the named OPERATION OF GOD. If he cannot believe that God cannot regenerate us at Baptism then he denies that God had the power to regenerate the body of Christ which was 75% water.

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col.2:12

This is the Baptist formulation: baptism is a symbol of what happens before. However, this is "believer's baptism" which ia a PAGAN baptism. However, if God could make the literal, physical blood of Jesus the lowly man into the MEANS of bringing His message to us then, they why deny HIM the power to make our baptism the means or rather the time and place where we ask for a clean conscience or A holy spirit? Is God truly that helpless?

When we are clothed with Christ we should understand that His garment was transformed into something new:

Metamorphoo (g3339) met-am-or-fo'- o; from 3326 and 3445; to transform (lit. or fig. "metamorphose"): - change, transfigure, transform.

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. Mark 9:3

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; Eph 4:22

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Eph 4:23

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ep.4:24

Put on is:

Enduo (g1746) en-doo'-o; from 1722 and 1416 (in the sense of sinking into a garment); to invest with clothing (lit. or fig.): - array, clothe (with), endue, have (put) on.

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Ga.3:27NIV

Well, it really isn't blood, is it? It is really the sacrifice of Christ. But it really isn't the sacrifice of Christ, is it? It is the will of God. So, on and on: the hook doesn't catch the fish, it is the line. Well, it isn't the line, it is the pole. Well, it isn't the pole it is the hands of the fisherman. Well, it isn't the hands but the fisherman himself. Well, it isn't really even the fisherman, it is the wife who chased the husband out of the house.

Power is always contained in something: why would it be less legalistic to believe that the power resides in faith. Well, here is where we are heading: in Calvinism no one even has the power to believe. Because if WE allow you to be saved by having faith then our predestination dogma flies out the window. Well, is it the blood that washes? Isn't it the Mind of God Who forgives and forgets. Why is "blood" any less legalistic than "water" if Christ put the power of a once-shed blood into water.

Are we literally washed in blood when Scripture says that we are washed in water?

Water poured out at the altar meant that innocent animals didn't have to die for the sins of the executioners. Water is the FORM or INSTEAD of our literal sacrifice. The thief on the cross shed his own blood for his own sins. We don't have to do that. Grace means INSTEAD OF.

One can find only one logical conclusion to this chain of thought: it is Holy Spirit baptism and everything else is just the means. If we can get the FULLNESS without water baptism then why worrry about something which is not important because it is just a MEANS?

Rubel Shelly: But what about tomorrow? Even if I am assured by the bath waters of baptism that Christ's blood has made me clean from my past sins, how will my life be renewed? How will I find the strength to be different tomorrow than I was yesterday? Where do I go to get the power to be holy, to be joyous, to be Christ-like?

That, my friend, is God's Spirit-gift that bubbles up to supply your need for daily grace to sustain you.

You don't "find" it or "learn how" to do it; it is a gift he provides.

"The early people thought that of baptism was to cover only sins committed in the past. Therefore, baptism was often delayed until sickness or the approach of death. They would rather risk dying unbaptized than to be baptized early in life
feeling no sins were forgiven after baptism. This proves that they cannot hold First John in their mind. Scripture does not allow a DIRECT OPERATION of the "third person" of the Family of God to do what the blood of Christ at baptism did once for all times for all people; past, present and future:

THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 1 John 1:1

(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 1 John 1:2

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:4

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

The holy spirit person does not bubble like fermenting wine to cleanse: the same baptism puts us INTO Christ where we have access to Christ.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 1 John 1:6

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Katharizo (g2511) kath-ar-id'-zo; to cleanse (lit. or fig.): - (make) clean (-se), purge, purify.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Jn.1:9

The only SPIRIT which BUBBLES UP comes from a new wineskin! John says that it is the BLOOD which cleanses us: past, present and future. But not by FAITH ALONE or a fermenting SPIRIT. John demands human action: If we walk in the light then the blood cleanses us in a present perfect tense. But what about Simon who was baptized and then sought to buy the supernatural power? Peter demanded:

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Acts 8:22

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Tit.2:14

This means REPENT and CALL UPON GOD for the remission of evil thoughts and the GIFT of a pure heart. You, see REPENTANCE, gives rise to A holy spirit but probably not a GUSHING, fermenting 1/3 of God.

The Bible fires "doctors of the Law" who are called "super apostles" by Paul puts that power in the Word.

> And be not conformed to this world: but ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Ro.12:2

> Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the

washing of regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy Ghost; Tit.3:5 [Our mind or our spirit]

> And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Ep.4:23

> Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; Ph.1:27

What we call the "law of singing" is defined in the Bible as glorifying God with ONE MIND and ONE VOICE as we speak "that which is written." (Rom 15)

> Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruis of his creatures. Ja.1:18

> Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Pe.1:23

> For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Ti.1:7

Sound minds or A holy mind probably doesn't GUSH too much. Rather, they exhibit the SEVEN SPIRITS of knowledge which would rest upon Jesus according to Isaiah 11:1-4.

Paul in 1 Cor 2 said that the Holy Spirit of God is to God what our spirit is to us: we are not twins. Then, he said that we have the MIND of Christ which is the Holy Spirit or mental disposition of God.

The wineskin worship with female worship teams confusing "music" with singing the Word were always they ones who quenched the Spirit which was always the Word to our minds or spirits. Amos discusses the horros of the "worship of the starry host" which Dr. Shelly sees as a pattern for our worship and community. The evil was music which took away the key to knowledge but the fatal disease was a "bubbling up" ritual system but thirsting and dying for lack of the Water of the Word:

That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; Am.6:5

That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. Am 6:6

Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed. Am 6:7

And I will turn your feasts (religious festivals) into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. Amos 8:10

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: Amos 8: 11

And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. Amos 8: 12

In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. Amos 8: 13

Here is Isaiah's version proving that the WATER as THE SPIRIT is the WORD of God. Therefore, the MIND of God is communicated through his word to those not attached to the new wineskins:

And (they have) the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands. Isaiah 5:12

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Isa 5:13

Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. Isa 5:14

Here is the solution to Dr. Shelly's dilemna about "what after water baptism." Scripture is absolutely clear that growing up into the image of Christ is based on feeding on His Word: not as cut and pasted in sermonizing and versifying but 'teaching it as it has been taught' and allowing it to fill the hunger created by "churchy" rituals:

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: John 4:13

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14

This "bubbling up" is not from new wine in a new wineskin: it is the Water of the Word. Again, look at the failure of the "musical" or external worship of Israel:

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: Amos 8: 11

Paul preached the CORE GOSPEL to children still carnal and not ready to feed on the MEAT OF THE WORD. When we are new born we feed on the spirit gift by letting the Word of Christ live in our hearts:

WHEREFORE laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 1 Pet 2:1
As newborn babes, desire the
sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Pet 2: 2
If so be ye have
tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Pet 2: 3

"Musical" or theatrical performance is not remotely connected to spiritual worship. In fact, music takes away the key to knowledge and that is the hidden agenda of most "preaching" which isn't text focused.

We have the Water of the Word and we worship by "giving heed" to that Word. We don't have to understand vitamins to get the value of an apple. In the same way, if we do not cut off all of the "apple" and preach just the "core" then the power of Christ will work its magic.

> The positive direct command in order to "worship" as synagogue rather than "pagan worship center."

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Pet 1:19

Pay attention to is both the Old and New Testament "worship" word for the individual:

Proserchomai (h4334) pros-er'-khom-ahee; from 4314 and 2064 (includ. its alt.); to approach, i.e. (lit.) come near, visit, or (fig.) worship, assent to: - (as soon as he) come (unto), come thereunto, consent, draw near, go (near, to, unto).

> The positive direct prohibitiion if the Spirit power is left in the Word.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Pet 1:20 [Further expounding]

Private is Idios is "their own." Interpretation is:

Epilusis (g1955) ep-il'-oo-sis; from 1956; explanation, i.e. application: - interpretation.
Epiluo (g1956) ep-ee-loo'-o; from 1909 and 3089 (break up); to solve further, i.e. (fig.) to explain, decide: - determine, expound.

> Therefore, the "worship" is defeated if the preacher and singer "further explain, applicate or expound" the Word as it has been taught.

> Those who use Sister Singers do so to "upset your equilibrium" to help navigate you by a new hot wind. By using their own silly, sentimental and erotic 'praise songs' they deliberately "take away the key to knowledge."

> The reason no private person can further expound, explicate or applicate the Words of Christ is just this:

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Pet 1:21

trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 1 Pet 1:11

A preacher: "God cannot communicate in human languages." Unsaid: "However, I can, for a price."

> The other reason the Word as delivered must be the universal standard makes it a "False Teacher Detector." If he doesn't teach what has been taught it is because there is no light in him:

BUT there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 1 Pet 2:1

Denying His power to protect His Word from the filter of the Bible writers personal agenday is to deny Christ is absolutely as He can be denied.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 1 Pet 2:2

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 1 Pet 2:3

> These are the ones Enoch and Jude claim that God will come with ten thousand of His host.

The primary sin was taking away he Word of God.

The primary method was the use of music.

> Those who lord it over the flock to preach silly human philosophy and turn the Water of the Word into New Wine out of a new Billy Goat skin are deliberate enemies of the cross. Why? Because according to Paul's unforgivable sin and Enoch's reason why God will come with ten thousand of His saints is that people repudiate God by repudiating His Word.

They make the sin beyond redemption by denying that the Holy Spirit or Mind of Christ was smart enough to tell it well enough.

Now, we are heading to "worship which we provide" to give you the power to just keep on bubbling up just like new wine from a wine vat which is the universal symbol of God's wrath.

The notion that worship as the works of human hands and human talent which is theatrical or "holy entertainment" provides the power is one of the most ancient pagan superstitions.

Rubel Shelly: This woman of Samaria knew that Jesus was talking about something that would be wonderful to possess. So she cried out: "Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water." She neither understood the nature of the gift nor grasped the identity of its giver. But her eagerness led Jesus to offer to pursue the matter further and to explain his meaning to her. And that transitions us to the second part of this text.

The woman wanted a
literal, physical well which she could see, touch, taste, feel and smell. She would certainly enjoy the musical, pagan worship Amos condemned. Perhaps that is where she got all of those men and husbands.

If Jesus told her that this wonderful, magical well of living waters was the revealed Word of God used as the "spirit of Truth" as the only "worship resource" which must be learned and meditated upon in the heart of human spirit in order for the slow growth process to continue.

When the people were disturbed that to get that "well of water" springing up they would have to literally eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus, He told them how "spirit" bubbles up spirit life and that:

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Therefore, the "water" Jesus is speaking of is the Word, the Spirit of Truth. That is used by the individual "in spirit" or in mind as we mediatate on it. Jesus is not going back to Babylon, Gerezim or Jerusalem to define a charismatic "worship service" which WE OFFER which has the power to move you into the Spirit. The "spirit" is that of the new wineskin but it is caused by chemicals manufactured in the brain and sold as "spiritual worship."

"Captain Edward Johnson, in about 1631, wrote on what became Harvard University. The learned, reverend, and judicious Mr. Henry Dunster had received a patron for establishing a college. And he notes:

"And as in all the other passages of this history the Wonder-working Providence of Sion's Saviour hath appeared, so especially in this work, the Fountains of learning being in a great measure stopped in our native Country at this time, so that the sweet waters of Shilo's streams must ordinarily pass into the Churches through the stinking channel of prelatical pride, beside all the filth that the fountains themselves were daily encumbered withal, insomuch that the Lord turned aside often from them, and

refused the breathing of his blessed Spirit among them,
which caused
Satan (in these latter days of his transformation into an Angel of light)
to make it a means to
persuade people from the use of learning altogether,
that so in the next generation they might be destitute of such helps as the Lord hath been pleased hitherto to make use of, as
chief means for the conversion of his people and building them up in the most holy faith,

as also for breaking down the Kingdom of Antichrist."

However much the "restrainers" and "strainers" of the Word may try, they are fighting with a Most Holy God Who presents Himself to us as The Word. The early Odes of Solomon understood the value of the Word and the evil of those who are professional Restrainers of the Word:

For it flooded and broke up everything and it brought (water) to the Temple; Ode of Solomon 6:8
And the restrainers of the children of men were not able to restrain it,

nor the arts of those whose business it is to restrain waters; Ode of Solomon 6: 9

For it spread over the face of the whole earth, and filled everything: and all the thirsty upon earth were given to drink of it; Ode of Solomon 6: 10

And thirst was relieved and quenched: for from the Most High the draught was given. (Amos 8) Ode of Solomon 6: 11

from the beginning and even to the end I acquired His knowledge: Ode of Solomon 11:4

And I was established upon the rock of truth, where He had set me up: Ode of Solomon 11: 5

And speaking waters touched my lips from the fountain of the Lord plenteously: Ode of Solomon 11: 6

And I drank and was inebriated with the living water that doth not die; Ode of Solomon 11: 7

And my inebriation was not one without knowledge, but I forsook vanity and turned to the Most High my God, Ode of Solomon 11: 8

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:18

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

WHAT IS THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF THE FINAL BAPTISM WITH WIND AND FIRE?

And his breath [SPIRIT], as rushing water in a valley, reach reach as far as the neck
        and
be divided, to confound the nations for their vain error;
error also shall pursue them and
overtake them. Isaiah 30:28 LXX
Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast?
and must ye go with a
pipe, as those that rejoice
into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel Isaiah 30:29 LXX

And it shall happen to him from every side, that they from whom their hope of assistance was,
        in which he trusted, themselves

        shall war against him
in turn with drums and with harp. Isaiah 30:32 LXX
For thou shalt be required before thy time: has it been prepared for thee also to reign?
        nay,
God has prepared for thee a deep trench, wood piled fire and much wood:
        the
wrath of the Lord shall be as a trench kindled with sulphur. Isaiah 30:33 LXX
