Instrumental Music in Worship - Endorphins - Marking God's People

Instrumental Music in Worship creates endorphins which marks the audience. This happens when new wine in winskins gives way to MUSICAL ENDORPHINS which are LEGAL MORPHINE used in new seeker-friendly TEMPLE STATES. Men like Joseph Campbell claim that terms such as "new wineskins" are affect images which actually influence the mind. That is, when people use it they are "stamping" an image on your mind.

If you get nothing else please grasp that not among the Jews nor in the most vile pagan temples did the musicians enter into the Holy Places. Among the Jews, the Holy Place is a carnal type of the spiritual body of Christ. No Levitical musician could enter into this type of the church of Christ even to clean out the garbage.

The temple musicians in a "religious sense" (grouped with prostitutes in pagan religions) were in the court making a loud mocking noise during the sacrifice and burning of animals.

In fulfilment of the prophetic type, it was prophesied in Psalm 41 and fulfilled in the Dead Sea Scroll translation that Judas and the military musicians would attempt to turn Jesus into a coward. Click for some examples.

By analogy, music is absolutely necessary for a successful tavern and it helps a lot of otherwise dead churches do pretty well. On the other hand, the simple unision singing commanded by Paul can be just as exciting because the "dialog" actually makes physical changes in the brain while the Word is taught and administered.

You should know that the Psalms which have instrumental connections are ALL warrior tunes. The Levitical singers and musicians were WARRIORS. The temple was the CIVIL shrine of the Jewish Monarchy which did not include much of the nation of Israel. After victory the surplus PANIC MUSICIANS were given "make work" jobs to give glory to the future temple. That temple was permitted only after Israel's elders "fired" God and He turned them over to self destruct. They were under the KING and the COMMANDERS of the army. They performed as service to the priests in the Sacrificial System. As such, they were the MILITARY helping the priests slaughter tens of thousands of TYPES of Lord Jesus Christ.

The word PRAISE carries the meaning of exciting and 'polluting' the enemy: remember Gideon?

Uses of the epic 3 of 15

The main function of poetry in heroic-age society appears to be

to stir the spirit of the warriors
to heroic actions by praising their exploits and those of their illustrious ancestors,
by assuring a
long and glorious recollection of their fame, and by supplying them with models of ideal heroic behaviour.

One of the favorite pastimes of the nobility in heroic ages in different times and places has been to gather in banquet halls to hear heroic songs,

in praise of famous deeds sung by professional singers as well as by the warriors themselves.

Heroic songs also were often sung before a battle, and such recitations had tremendous effect on the morale of the combatants. Among the Fulani (Fulbe) people in The Sudan, for instance, whose epic poetry has been recorded, a nobleman customarily set out in quest of adventures accompanied by a singer (mabo), who also served as his shield bearer.

The singer was thus the witness of the heroic deeds of his lord, which he celebrated in an epic poem called baudi.

Before we look at music it must be noted that clean, pure tones are often helpful in therapy. For instance, you will rarely find people doing their mantra with instruments or four part harmony.

The information about learning and music is not clear. Information recited in a metrical form with or without a group is defined by the Apostle Paul as the way to "teach and admonish one another."

Since the poetic presentation may help learning, it is important that Paul defines the RESOURCE to be learned as "that which is written" (Rom 15), the Spirit or Word (John 6:63) and the Word of Christ (Col. 3:16). This pattern is repeated many times without the use of "singing."

By focusing on teaching one another and doing the "singing" in the heart and directed to God, the "addictive" focus is placed on God rather than the Musical Worship Facilitator often the love object of addictive "worshipers" in song and clapping.

The Power of Music

7. Sue Hallam concludes that "(while) there is little hard evidence regarding the extent to which music directly influences self-directed behaviour, we do know that music can influence our moods and some aspects of our behaviour in ways which may be outside our conscious awareness." She then embarks on a fascinating summary of the neurological aspects of musical processing.

Thus music can be experienced physiologically (eg changes in heart rate); through movement; through mood and emotion; and cognitively (through knowledge and memories).

The fact that music is processed in many ways and has physical, emotional and cognitive effects may, in Sue Hallam's view, be the key to its power.

Music in the complex sense shuts down the higher, spiritual or rational right brain and opens the pleasure gateway to the more ANIMAL-LIKE part of our brain. That emotional side is created to cause us to FIGHT, FLIGHT or seek and enjoy SEXUAL experiences. It is there to PROPEL us into action when a saber toothed tiger lunges at us: we don't need to THINK about our response.

However, if someone yells TIGER enough times we are ADDICTED and it takes higher and higher levels of perceived danger to make us move. Music abuses that ANIMAL NATURE and deadens the natural responses.

"While animals can perceive differences in sound and some can perceive differences between composers and styles of music,
........... they are unable to retain the shape of melodies and others of the holistic aspects of music.

Therefore, the abuse of music seems to tap into an open gate to our mind but without the critical discernment. To that extent, we share with the cows. Is that why Amos in condemning the musical idolatry of Israel called the women as the movers of charismatic religion "cows of Bashan"?

Carol Wimber as the "mother" of the NEW STYLE PRAISE SINGING pushes music as a means to actually reach a climax-like experience with God. Of course she understands that people, like cows, can be collected in herds by the use of music:

Nevertheless, they do respond to music, indeed recent research has demonstrated that cows are more eager to gather in the milking shed when music is playing.

Carol Wimber then calls the FOURTH PHASE of charismatic worship "the giving of means."

And even more recent research seems to prove that the milk yield of cows is also increased when 'calming' music is played in the milking parlour.

If you want to teach error which will never be "taken out and examined" then you need to put it into the Left Brain with the use of music. In the future when someone questions why you believe that you should drink JONESTOWN KOOLAID you may attack them quite violently but not be able to state you should not drink or kill yourself to catch the spaceship coming in on the comet.

8. Sue Hallam infers from those findings "that some fairly primitive brain mechanisms are involved in at least some of our responses to music". Not unconnected to that conclusion is the way that different musical skills can operate independently: this is illustrated by the way that we can know and recognise a piece of music which we hear

but may be unable to retrieve information about its title or composer even though we know that we have that knowledge.

Apparently, there has been less research in relation to the neurobiology of emotion. The latest theories have it that our emotional responses to music are controlled by the amygdala (which has close connections with the hypothalamus, the part of the brain which instigates emotional behaviour and ensures that we can react quickly when our life is at risk).

The amygdala evaluates sensory input for its emotional meaning, receiving sensory information directly and quickly from the thalamus,

a relay station for incoming information, before it has been processed by the conscious thinking part of the brain, the cortex.

9. Information is received from the cortex but more slowly, which explains those rapid, sometimes embarrassing reactions to music such as tears on hearing children singing (not to be confused with a music teacher's sometimes anguished response to what she is hearing!) or driving faster when exciting, or aggressive music is heard on the car radio.

Thus cortical pathways take longer to react to incoming information but provide a more complete cognitive assessment of the situation.

In musical terms, they invoke memories associated with the music being heard. While these may also influence our emotional responses to music, because we are consciously aware of them, our responses are more likely to be within our control. Sue Hallam also refers to research which suggests that the limbic system ("The Centre of Emotions") contains a large number of opoid receptors which are highly susceptible to the presence of chemicals like endorphins (which blunt the feeling of pain). In some circumstances, music listening seems to encourage the release of endorphins which in turn elicit emotional responses. From Source

Michael Davis, Ph.D., Yale University, reviews studies of the startle reflex suggesting that fear engages different circuitry than anxiety. Circuits involving the central nucleus of the amygdala appear to process conditioned fear responses to specific stimuli, while circuits involving a closely related area, the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, handle non-cue-specific, non-conditioned, anxiety. Both circuits, in turn, connect to the hypothalamus, brainstem, and other brain areas mediating specific signs of fear and anxiety. The central nucleus pathway may thus play a role in disorders involving specific stimuli, such as phobias.

Many responses to music are not physiological but emotional. There has been less research in relation to the neurobiology of emotion than other aspects of human functioning and in particular emotional responses relating to music.

Current thinking suggests that when we hear music or other sounds our emotional responses to them are controlled by the amygdala. This evaluates sensory input for its emotional meaning.

It receives input about sensory information directly and quickly from the thalamus, a relay station for incoming information,
........... before it has been processed by the conscious thinking part of the brain, the cortex.

Information is received from the cortex but more slowly. This explains those immediate and sometimes embarrassing responses to music which occur automatically, for instance, responding tearfully to children singing, driving faster when very arousing music is being played on the car radio. Cortical pathways take longer to react to incoming information but provide a more complete cognitive assessment of the situation. In musical terms they invoke memories relating to the particular music being heard. These may also influence our emotional responses to music but because we are consciously aware of them our responses are more likely to be within our control.

The amygdala has close connections with the hypothalamus, the part of the brain which instigates emotional behaviour.

This ensures that we can respond quickly to incoming stimuli, particularly when such reactions are important for our survival.

One of the major neurological components of emotion is the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). This has two divisions,
........... the sympathetic division, which prepares the body for fight or flight,
........... and the parasympathetic division which works to conserve energy.

The sympathetic division energises the body by speeding up the heart rate, stimulating the production of adrenalin and other neurotransmitters and stimulating the conversion of glycogen to create energy.

The parasympathetic division slows down the heart rate, stimulates digestion and the secretion of saliva. The evidence suggests that different types of music stimulate aspects of each division.

Research exploring the way that music is processed by the brain suggests that there is no easy way of predicting the effects of music on an individual's behaviour. While, as a species, humans may share many automatic responses to sound, our conscious responses, which, in part, mediate the emotional responses, are unique.

They are affected by our previous experiences of music. These are partly determined by our culture, social group within it, age, gender, and whether we have received musical training.

In addition, each individual has a unique set of memories which are 'attached' to each musical experience. These will be evoked in relation to specific pieces of music. They may be related to events, persons, activities, places, emotions or other sensory experiences.

This level of individuality means that making accurate predictions of the effects of music on the behaviour of any person is extremely difficult.

While we may not be able to predict individual responses to music, research has attempted to identify overall trends in relationships between music and behaviour.

Sex feels good, that is why people do it for more than simply procreation. Laughing is enjoyable, for that reason people search for things that amuse them. Touch is pleasing, therefore the massage business thrives. These things can become addictive due to the pleasurable effect that they produce. People have been exercising obsessively for a long time but only recently was an idea postulated as an explanation.

Laughter often begets laughter and in large doses, has the ability to make one feel high. We do what makes us feel good; human beings are naturally pleasure seekers. It is said that with drugs your first high is the best and never able to be duplicated.

What keeps people using drugs, despite the downfalls associated with use, is that eternal quest for that ethereal feeling that they experienced the very first time.

Pleasurable activities, like exercising, sex, laughter, touch, etc. can all become dangerously addictive. Some people will do anything and everything for 'that fix".

So what is it that makes people search for the next high, or feel good experience? Exercise, sex, laughter, and touch all produce positive effects within the body via chemicals in the brain. These chemicals are called endorphins, a mixture of the two words endogenous, meaning from within the body, and morphine, a powerful pain fighting drug that is also used and abused for recreational purposes. Endorphins are the body's internal pain regulators.

The drug opium has been used recreationally as early in the ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian cultures. British physician, Thomas Syndenham brought opium to the public to be used for medicinal purposes around sixteen-eighty.

By the end of the seventeen-twenties opium was outlawed in China, due to it's high level of recreational use and abuse. This led to the Opium Wars between the China and England. Opium was also used throughout the Civil War to treat battle wounds and in surgery (1). From Source.

That "feeling" may not be caused by the impulse of "fight or flight" but the vicarious sexual experience can create endorphins which can attributed to the music.

This is why once the "musical worship facilitator" gets hold of the emotion of the immature, they will kill you to protect him or her:

Endorphines are the "love hormones" released during sex, childbirth and breastfeeding, and they really are like an aphrodisiac, causing people "under the influence" to fall in love with each other without any rational filtering. I try not to usurp the power of these hormones,
........... and I work hard to keep the family focused on each other in that first hour after birth,
........... because I want them bonding with each other instead of with me. From Source

LOVE, like fear, triggers the emotions linked to the fight-or-flight response.

Our system overshoots to cause our quick response or heal the pain and therefore produce the PLEASURE only after the HURT has been drugged:

But extra endorphins make this sensation more pleasurable. The pupils dilate, the mouth smiles unconsciously.

McCabe says people in love have a more positive view of the world. "Things don't seem to upset them as much as they would normally, their level of happiness, optimism and general wellbeing is better," she says. From Source

Theatrical or musical performance in "church" activates many of our senses and often gives vent to the actual movement of the body in automatic response to the drug high. That is why we enjoy watching TV which is designed to attack us at all levels but the intellectual:

When you watch TV, brain activity switches from the left to the right hemisphere. In fact, experiments conducted by researcher Herbert Krugman showed that while viewers are watching television, the right hemisphere is twice as active as the left, a neurological anomaly.

The crossover from left to right releases a surge of the body's natural opiates: endorphins, which include beta-endorphins and enkephalins.

Endorphins are structurally identical to opium and its derivatives (morphine, codeine, heroin, etc.). Activities that release endorphins (also called opioid peptides) are usually habit-forming (we rarely call them addictive).

These include cracking knuckles, strenuous exercise, and orgasm. External opiates act on the same receptor sites (opioid receptors) as endorphins, so there is little difference between the two.

Again, notice the fact that things like showtime "worship" or watching a ball game or TV the goal is to drug the "human" or higher nature and turn us into COWS who can be attracted by music and body action and will, as all abusers know, GIVE MORE MILK:

First of all, when you're watching television the higher brain regions (like the midbrain and the neo-cortex) are shut down, and most activity shifts to the lower brain regions (like the limbic system).

The neurological processes that take place in these regions cannot accurately be called "cognitive."

The lower or reptile brain simply stands poised to react to the environment using deeply embedded "fight or flight" response programs.

Moreover, these lower brain regions cannot distinguish reality from fabricated images (a job performed by the neo-cortex),

so they react to television content as though it were real, releasing appropriate hormones and so on. Studies have proven that, in the long run,

too much activity in the lower brain leads to atrophy in the higher brain regions.

It has been noted that music and drama has replaced the Word because "we know that it isn't true." We can sing "at the foot of the old rugged cross" and know that we are not going to get blood spattered.

If you depend on people being able to read and comprehend by doing some of the cognitive work themselves you will soon find that addiction to the Slick Willies chosen for their charismatic preaching or musicl leading have actually atrophied your thinking power. Therefore, the "sound byte mentality" is not just a bad habit but the brain has actually been RESTRUCTURED based on the nature of the input.

Therefore, trying to communicate with a "worshiping groupie" is very near impossible. Perhaps that is why Jesus wrote off the clergy and spoke in parables (Matthew 13) and told His disciples to "shake off the dust" if not received. Jesus even called them a "den of vipers" perhaps speaking of their "reptilian" minds which actually contained little HIGHER, SPIRITUAL OR RATIONAL ability:

It is interesting to note that the lower/reptile/limbic brain correlates to the bio-survival circuit of the Leary/Wilson 8 Circuit Model of Consciousness. This is our primal circuit, the base "presence" that we normally associate with consciousness.

This is the circuit where we receive our first neurological imprint (the oral imprint), which conditions us to advance toward anything warm, pleasurable and/or protective in the environment.

The bio-survival circuit is our most infantile, our most primal way of dealing with reality.

A person obsessed with the pursuit of physical pleasure is probably fixated on this circuit; in fact the Freudians believed an opium addiction was an attempt to return to the womb.

Many observers note that modern "worship" as opposed to the church as synagogue or school of the Bible is an attempt to resurrect GODDESS WORSHIP of the Mothe Godesses. Church has converted from tolerance of the harsh light and air outside the womb into an infantile urge to get back into "mother" to keep from undergoing a baptism of WATER and SPIRIT which is hard discipline in the masculine environment:

We could logically deduce that such addictions occur when higher brain functions are anesthetized and the newly dominant lower brain seeks out pleasure at any cost.
........... Taking this into account, television is like a double edged sword:
........... not only does it cause the endocrine system to release the body's natural opiates (endorphins),

but it also concentrates neurological activity in the lower brain regions where we are motivated by nothing but the pursuit of pleasure. Television produces highly functional, mobile "bio-survival robots."

Indeed the Viper or Serpent Masters will destroy old churches in order to convert it into a "theater for holy entertainment." Others do the same thing lusting for A Spectacle of Worshp using the same language as witchcraft. This latter book by Fred Peatross urges a VORTEX of experience so powerful in witchcraft. This is the spiral of energy much like the whirling SERPENT personified by a galaxy.

Herbert Krugman's research proved that watching television numbs the left brain and leaves the right brain to perform all cognitive duties. This has some harrowing implications for the effects of television on brain development and health.

For one, the left hemisphere is the critical region for organizing, analyzing, and judging incoming data.

The right brain treats incoming data uncritically, and it does not decode or divide information into its component parts.

Along with the Serpent Masters replacing the Word in churches, the Bible is replaced with soft, sentimental and often erotic and erroneous teachings. It is abundantely clear that before the performing Musical Worship Facilitator was dredged up from the world of the theater, the CORE GOSPEL had denied the Word of God and gave everyone the liberty to make up their own "scriptures."

The right brain processes information in wholes, leading to emotional rather than intelligent responses.

We cannot rationally attend to the content presented on television because that part of our brain is not in operation.

Here, you can see that the hostile takeover of churches deliberately intends to profiteer on the VIPER or SERPENTINE unconscious VORTEX to condition the post modern world to abandon the masculine, rational or spiritual nature which made Adam superior to the "beast" people because God breathed the spirit or ability to perceive inspiration. However, it is easier to herd cattle than to teach thinking, adult humans.

Fred Peatross notes: After this there came a literate world where people thought in terms of propositional claims, theory, and conceptualization, and where they developed ideas in linear discourse.

MODERNS: "...think in terms of images, sound, and visualization. It is significant to note that those who have been most influenced by electronic culture participate in church at far lower levels than those of previous generations.

Communicating the gospel in a constant flow of images that are ever challenging will SOON replace the coherent, orderly arrangement of ideas.

The subjective must come before the objective; if it doesn't, we will lose our audience.

It is therefore unsurprising that people rarely comprehend what they see on television, as was shown by a study conducted by researcher Jacob Jacoby. Jacoby found that, out of 2,700 people tested, 90% misunderstood what they watched on television only minutes before.

As yet there is no explanation as to why we switch to the right brain while viewing television,
........... but we do know this phenomenon is immune to content.

For a brain to comprehend and communicate complex meaning, it must be in a state of "chaotic disequilibrium." This means that there must be a dynamic flow of communication between all of the regions of the brain, which facilitates the comprehension of higher levels of order (breaking conceptual thresholds), and leads to the formation of complex ideas. High levels of chaotic brain activity are present during challenging tasks like reading, writing, and working mathematical equations in your head.

They are not present while watching TV. From Source

Endorphins: "The Morphine of the Mind"

Endorphins (meaning "morphine within") and enkephalins ("in the head") were only two of several morphine-like substances (opioids) discovered within our brains as recently as the '70s. Enkephalins are pentapeptides, and endorphins are polypeptides containing 30 amino acid units. Opioids are considered stress hormones -- alongside others including corticotrophin, cortisol, and catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline).

Stress hormones are released by activity in sympathetic fibers; following pain, excitement, anxiety, hypoglycemia, cold, or hemorrhage.

While adrenaline's release is accompanied by renewed synthesis, other hormones require positive stress (eustress) for reproduction.

Diet, exercise, and general wellbeing control the production of endorphins, but stress and pain trigger their release. Examples: eating spicy foods (your mind believes your mouth is on fire and supplies some natural morphine), having charging sex (that sudden giddy feeling, or those painless pin pricks in your brain), or stubbing your toe (pain again).

Why would a natural analgesic occur during something as pleasurable as sex?

Endorphins (and elevated serotonin levels) cause "runner's high", a release which occurs due to necessary pain alleviation in stressed muscles. Invigorating sex is exertion, and therefore causes the same release.

Intense pleasure also relates to pain; women often have the same extroverted, and chemical, reactions in child birth as they do during sex. You know those moments when you feel like it's just too much, but you're loving it and don't ever want to stop?

Ever get the cranial pin pricks and euphoria right then? Some people release endorphins during orgasm, others do so from non-climactic over-stimulation.

Endorphins control emotions as well. The psychological model is "Glad, sad, and mad", with fear as a sidebar. The average person (harrumph) is typically in glad mode.

If duress downshifts them to sad or mad,
endorphins are released for re-elevating them to glad.

If fear strikes, endorphins similarly allow coping by providing a feeling of calm euphoria. Such a nice feeling, perhaps too nice of one. Your brain (the primal portion) maintains a certain quota of endorphins to ensure survival under duress. If you don't have that quota, you've got problems. In the instance of pain you simply aren't supplied with an analgesic, but it becomes more complex with emotional reactions. A startle reflex can escalate into terror and paralysis, depression can downgrade into catatonia.

Or your body can compensate by supplying adrenaline,
........... which is intended for lifting you back up to glad mode
........... but often overshoots you into an explosive rage.

Why would your mind consider this better? It's simple. If your upset is inspired by a physical threat, then obviously paralysis and catatonia musn't be allowed. Rage may be draining, but it is more likely to get you through situations than lying there with your head in the sand is. Adrenaline is your body's response to the threat of atrophy and death. Therefore, we ask: "Is our Musical and Theatrical Performance Minister and Worship Team a DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM?"

The answer is yes.

Madison Church of Christ Concerned Members Forum

However, complex harmony with or without an instrument can spread anxiety like a plague and chase your members away--unless you give them bigger and bigger injections. In time, there is pain and then the church is killed off. These are marks in the "forehead" or thinking part and in the "hand" or power source.

The Bible and Melody or a Drug-Producing Process
Every musical idea in both the Old and New Testaments is based upon roots denoting "to make vile, to pollute, to prostitute, to abrade, to grind to bits (as in sop), to panic the enemy or to sound the keynote so that everyone follows the leader": Iits very popularity should prove to any spiritual, Biblically literate and honest person that music is a MARK upon the carnal nature of mankind and actually puts the spiritual or rational self to sleep while it assaults the body with the reactions of fight, flight or sex. No wonder there is so much obsession with sexual addiction.

When the Israelite "congregation" assembled, this MARKING was outlawed in God's command to Moses for the silver trumpets (Numbers 10:7).

Taqa (h8628( taw-kah'; a prim. root; to clatter, i. e. slap (the hands together), clang (an instrument); by anal. to drive (a nail or tent-pin, a dart, etc.); by impl. to become bondsman (by hand-clasping): - blow ([a trumpet]), cast, clap, fasten, pitch [tent], smite, sound, strike, suretiship, thrust.

This is why Paul insisted that melody be in the heart to change the spirit and not be an attack upon the body. When musical harmony sounds "spiritual" and the hair rises on the back of your neck you have been attacked by dis-harmony or a dangerous drug which, in the words of one "pastor," is like LSD slipped into the communion wine but a bit slower.

One pastor noting from the study of the names of musical terms that all instruments are "the devil's instruments." However, "God saw how powerful the devil's instruments were and decided to adopt them for His own worship."

First, look at some examples which equate Strong's h5059 to h2490 to define players on musical instruments and this striking, stamping or marking:

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels. Psalm 68:25

Players in this verse in Hebrew: Nagan (h5059) naw-gan'; a prim. root; prop. to thrum, i. e. beat a tune with the fingers; espec. to play on a stringed instrument; hence (gen.) to make music: - player on instruments, sing to the stringed instruments, melody, ministrel, play (-er, -ing..

Naga (h5060) naw-gah'; a prim. root; prop. to touch, i. e. lay the hand upon for any purpose;
........... euphemism: to lie with a woman);

By implication to reach (fig. to arrive, acquire); violently, to strike (punish, defeat, destroy, etc.): - beat, (* be able to) bring (down), cast, come (nigh), draw near (nigh), get up, happen, join, near, plague, reach (up), smite, strike, touch.

Look up Naga and Serpent Worship

Look at Overwhelming Connection between Music and Serpent Worship

And a companion passage:

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee. Psalm 87:7

Players in this passage is the Hebrew: Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; a prim. root [comp. 2470]; prop. to bore, i. e. (by impl.) to wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an "opening wedge"); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute): - begin (* men began), defile, * break, defile, * eat (as common things), * first, * gather the grape thereof, * take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

When Jubal (Genun) played or handled his instruments it was without God's approval:

Taphas (h8610) taw-fas'; a prim. root; to manipulate, i. e. seize; chiefly to capture, wield; spec. to overlay; fig. to use unwarrantably: - catch, handle, (lay, take) hold (on, over), stop, * surely, surprise, take.

Taphaph (h8608) taw-faf'; a prim. root; to drum, i. e. play (as) on the tambourine: - taber, play with timbrels.

Topheth or hell itself comes from the same words:

Chalah (h2470) khaw-law'; a prim. root [comp. 2342, 2470, 2490]; prop. to be rubbed or worn; hence (fig.) to be weak, sick, afflicted; or (causat.) to grieve, make sick; also to stroke (in flattering), entreat: - beseech, (be) diseased, (put to) grief, be grieved, (be) grievous, infirmity, intreat, lay to, put to pain, * pray, make prayer, be (fall, make) sick, sore, be sorry, make suit (* supplication), woman in travail, be (become) weak, be wounded.

Melody in Greek is compared to rubbed out grain or to triturate: to grind into powder.

Note: the circular dance of David, the one they tried to force upon Jesus and that of the Dionysus women or effete men was a circular dance in imitation of an animal giving birth . When they became dizzy they were sure that the gods had invaded them just as exhilaration in worship is the new test of worship in the presence of God.

Halal praise is similar. David and others often pretended insanity to declare themselves innocent before God -- not even God can condemn a crazy man:

Halal (h1984) haw-lal'; a prim. root; to be clear (orig. of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causat. to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (- ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.

For instance, of David trying to seduce the enemy into hiding him:

And he changed (perverted) his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad (h1984 halal) in their hands, and scrabbled (drummed marks) on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard. 1 Samuel 21:13

Have you noticed that singers and speakers "soar away," go into a charismatic fit, and get so violent with words that they actually froth at the mouth like a mad dog.? This spittle of David was:

Riyr (h7388) reer; from 7325; saliva; by resemblance broth: - spittle, white of an egg.

This can not easily happen when a person remains in their right mind and speaks with a normal, sane tone of voice.

Second, see the examples equating the musicians to the players as polluters or prostitutes because they used music to overpower the people for their own profit.

Third, see that melody and playing on instruments are the same.

Fourth, see that melody in Hebrew carries the same meaning as to "prune your vines" to "take your inheritance" as players, flute players, harp players and this is even related to Lucifer. Of the king of Tyre as the agent of Lucifer:

Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered. Isaiah 23:16

Melody in Hebrew is: Zimrah (h2172) zim-raw'; from 2167; a musical piece or song to be accompanied by an instrument: - melody, psalm.

Zamar (h2168) zaw-mar'; a prim. root [comp. 2167, 5568, 6785]; to trim (a vine): - prune.

Go back up to Chalal to see the "pruning your vines" or "taking your inheritance" meaning.

Melody works because it makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck and arms and makes a cold chill run up and down your spine. Don't believe it when the change agents tell you that you have been professionally moved into the presence of God: You are in contact with the wrong "spirit."

Camar (h5568) saw-mar'; a prim. root; to be erect, i. e. bristle as hair: - stand up, tremble.
........... Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: Jb.4:15
........... My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments. Ps.119:120

Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers. Je.51:27 (h5569)

Taqa (h8628) taw-kah'; a prim. root; to clatter, i. e. slap (the hands together), clang (an instrument); by anal. to drive a nail or tent-pin, a dart, etc.); by impl. to become bondsman (by hand-clasping): - blow ([a trumpet]), cast, clap, fasten, pitch [tent], smite, sound, strike, * suretiship, thrust.

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: Jud.3:21

Then Jael Hebers wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground:
........... for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.Jud.4:21

And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon. Jud.7:20

And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every mans sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, unto Tabbath. Jud.7:22

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it? Am.3:6

Fifth, see that melody in Greek is identical to melody in Hebrew. However, in the Koine Greek in relation to spiritual affairs, Psallo had been purged of its instrumental sense:

Melody in Greek is: Psallo (g5567) psal'-lo; prob. strengthened from psao , (to rub or touch the surface; comp. 5597); to twitch or twang, i.e. to play on a stringed instrument (celebrate the divine worship with music and accompanying odes): - make melody, sing (psalms)

Psocho (g5597) pso'-kho; prol. from the same base as 5567; to triturate, i.e. (by anal.) to rub out (kernels from husks with the fingers or hand): - rub.

Psomion (g5596) pso-mee'-on; dim. from a der. of the base of 5597; a crumb or morsel (as if rubbed off), i.e. a mouthful: - sop.

The Judas Bag was for "keeping the mouthpieces of wind instruments." It means "to speak in tongues" and "after the world" or Kosmos.

Sixth, you noted that melody, triturating or rubbing things raw or into powder is related to the SOP which Jesus fed Judas. The Judas Bag was a bag or chest "to carry the mouthpieces of wind instruments." Judas symbolically connected the musical principle to money collection. This in turn is connected to the money chests in the temple which were called "trumpets."

Conclusion: This is why Paul demanded that melody be in the heart. Furthermore, there is not a shred of evidence for the use of harmony which dates to about the same period as the introduction of musical instruments. Harmony imitates musical instruments, becomes addictive and calls for larger doses including a multi-horsepower pipe organ or a Rock or Rap band.

Musical Science Agrees With the Bible and Pagan History
IDo you know how irritating a barking dog can be as it deprives you of sleep and poisons your system with unhealthy chemicals? How about a dripping faucet? Well, that irritation doesn't happen with pure continuous tones. In the motel you can turn on the air conditioner and "drown out" the "barks" or "shouts" (common in singing).

Now the singing of a single voice or unison singing creates fairly pure tones. Four pure tones would produce about 16 other "voices."

However, the harmonic principle of two voices singing impure tones allows you to hear up to 16 "voices" or overtones and there are dozens more which may affect your mental well being.

Many of these "voices" or overtones are not related and are really like audible "dog barks" or "water drips." They are off key.

This will drive you over the edge of Lynn Anderson's or Rubel Shelly's brink even as you are not aware of the hidden "raps" and "rocks." Many people will move to a pew "out of the line of fire" of loud preaching or singing. Most will head for the door without understanding that they are escaping the grasp of the unwelcome experience.

Why doesn't everyone catch on to the dog barks and water drips? Some of the "barks" sound like the next note in the sequence and help bind the two different notes into a "smooth" performance. In other words, the harmony develops its own "bridge" to fool your rational (spiritual) mind into believing that the Musical Team are angelic hosts. They claim to preach a Christ-O-Centric gospel but look and see who is at the O-center.

However, the dog barks and water drips are still there doing damage, polluting, prostituting, taking your inheritance and making the understanding of Christ's words absolutely impossible.

The marathon runner can run only because the pain created by the abuse of the body creates chemicals to deaden the pain. The "left over" morphine-like drug then gives the runner pleasure and he cannot wait for the next fix never understanding that he is a drug-addict. Musical pain and runner's pain are identical.

"Even a dog that is barking "continuously" is really producing a drip, drip, type of non-continuous interruptive irritant, because no matter how small the gap of silence between barks, we can hear it, and our physiological system cannot keep adjusting back and forth, from the sound to the silence, in order to define its level and then mask it. The longer it goes on, the greater the irritant, until it becomes tortuous. Loudness has a little, but not much, to do with it. The irritant is there as long as you can hear it. (Note: the mind is abraded or ground to powder because it is running a foot race trying to adjust from one note to another and then to silence."

RELATION OF THIS TO MUSIC

"The continuity or continuousness of notes in a melody is created because the previous notes often have overtones or harmonies that will usually (not always) match the next note or notes in a fairly audible way. Thus we are hearing "more of the same" (or at least partially more of the same) in the succeeding notes, and this ties notes together into a melody or continuum of sounds and/or harmonies.
........... and this ties notes together into a melody or continuum of sounds and/or harmonies.
........... "This is also what creates a sense of "key" or tonality in music and melody.

"A-tonal music does not have this property of successive overtone relationships, but in fact deliberately defies this, thus creating a discontinuous series of tones, a-melodic, a-tonal and even a-rhytnmic. The result, based upon the information above about discontinuous sounds, produces an irritant, which only acculturated habit or conditioning can overcome in order for one to aquire a sense of appreciation for it. Most of us do not, or can not, do this. -- Bob Fink

Writing on the history of music Fink notes that:

"At the earliest times in musical development, a sense for "melody" would not have occurred overnight. Prior to it, music often was the playing of single notes, assigned to various rituals, such as one gong for moon, another for sun, another for death, birth, etc., and played without much or any regard to their succession as musical melody of any sort. Scales might even be virtually non-existent as was harmony.

[Note: melody in English means single tones in a sequence. Even with the harp, this rule was followed: the note of the string was the same note as the voice. "Melody" does not include "harmony."]

"What is harmony for? After all, a single tone is more "pure" than any combinations of tones or chords,
........... which are cluttered with overtones that are usually dissonant with each other.

Why did humanity bother to add, to the relatively clean single tone, "harmony" notes (and therefore, greater dissonance)?

"The answer is that harmony's function has evolved mostly to make the notes of melodies "connect" or to make their connection to each other melodically more apparent to the ear by making their common inner overtones audibly explicit in chords.

It follows that harmony had no reason to exist among any people who are lacking scales. Scales are, historically, "congealed" or "generic" melody in the abstract.

"Once scales developed (especially a favoured two, major and minor), then we are looking at a people for whom connections between notes is very important.

The agenda is whether melody is important enough for them to overlook the dissonant elements in chords

(compared to their purer, more consonant single tones), so as to allow them to use chords in the enhancement of their melodies. Only after the full scale and melody develop first can harmony even begin to appear on this historical agenda.

"The oldest song dates this agenda far earlier in time and gives to the diatonic scale a near-universal status not formerly ascribed to it.

"Tonality", which is defined as a "loyalty to a keynote", is also exhibited in the oldest song

by repeating phrases found at the end of sentences, usually on the same note as the keynote of the tune. Evidence for the Origin of Music by Robert Fink

Preachers who, like David, have lost their way become specialists in forcing people to change with dog barks and water drips sold in the commercial-religious marketplaces as a new and improved worship system. The Bible clearly condemns such efforts as polluting, prostituting and just "pruning your vine" to "take your inheritance."

Plato In Timaeus

While it would not get an A+ in Acoustics 101, Plato explained the "religious" nature of music:

"The phenomena of medical cupping-glasses and of the swallowing of drink and of the projection of bodies, whether discharged in the air or bowled along the ground, are to be investigated on a similar principle;

and swift and slow sounds, which appear to be high and low,
and are sometimes discordant on account of their inequality,
and then again harmonical
on account of the equality of
the motion which they excite in us.

For when the motions of the antecedent swifter sounds begin to pause and the two are equalised,

the slower sounds overtake the swifter and then propel them.

When they overtake them they do not intrude a new and discordant motion,
but
introduce the beginnings of a slower, which answers to the swifter as it dies away,

thus producing a single mixed expression out of high and low, whence

arises a pleasure which even the unwise feel, and which to the wise becomes a higher sort of delight,
being an imitation of
divine harmony in mortal motions.

Next, it is important to understand why so-called harmony can be so destructive while seeming to sound so spiritual to some. To that end we will look at pain-created endorphins (Morphine like) and the harmonic vocal and Instrumental Music Connection

If the congregation suddenly discovers that the sermons have evolved from human psychology in an effort to solve your problems with new techniques they will feel like fools who have been fooled. Never fear, Paul would say, "fools love to be fooled and you are so wise."

The evidence is clear that the trampling masses can be appeased and tranquilized with bread and circuss. After all, wasn't music originally employed to appease the gods?

"During the 1940's and 1950's groups of psychiatrists and students of mental health began experimenting with music to sooth their patients... Dramatic results were reported by numerous researchers. Though it has not proved the cure-all that early practitioners hoped it would, music has won an established place in mental and emotional therapy.

Some noted specialists feel that in some patients it can have a tranquilizing effect unmatched by any known drug.

Though he didn't use the vocabulary of modern psychiatry, one noted biblical figure endorsed the view that music can sooth a troubled mind. King Saul was a tormented man who exhibited many symptoms associated with schizophrenia. Ancient historians described his condition in theological terms;

when he was less than rational 'the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him' (1 Sam. 16:14)" (Garrison, p. 19)

"Are the endorphins the ultimate painkillers? Unfortunately, the answer is, "Yes and no." Using the endorphins themselves as drugs to control chronic pain is impractical, inefficient, costly, and sometimes even dangerous.

But scientists refused to give up on the endorphins. There had to be a way to get them to work for us."

Musical therapists note that pure, single tones are most effective in tranquilizing people.. However, modern, artificially-induced pharmakeia will, as Rock-Music proves, eventially become destructive as we search for a bigger "fix." It is a fact that in "worship" driven by choirs or Levite-like "worship teams," the music is what is remembered. Not much else that happens makes an impression. This agrees with the almost-universal theme of the Old Testament, that music was adopted by those who told God: "Go away. We don't want to hear from you."

Therefore, when the "services" begin with singing sentimental poetry in loud, many-part harmony you can be sure that you are being "prepped" for a matching sermon rather than from the Word. You will neither hear nor understand 1% of it but you will say "he is so Biblical" even if he murders Christ again by taking the scalpel to His Word which He said was "Spirit and Life" (Jn 6:63)

Amos, in the Septuagint, notes that israel thought that their musical worship had abiding value but he said that it was just fleeting pleasure. However, the same thrill can come as a result of learing some deep truth about God and will have a lasting effect:

"One study casts some light on the relationship between endorphins and highly charged emotional experiences" (Hutchinson, p. 154).

"This thrill response is not limited to music. Most of us feel it as a natural part of any experiment that is deeply moving or emotionally involving...be it a poem, novel, mathematical equation, landscape, film, philosophical disquisition, or song. ..Most important, the goose-bump quotient can also be used as a rough indicator of one type of learning; the thrill comes in response to a sudden understanding, a feeling of knowing which is not coldly logical and rational but instead is visceral, intense, emotionally highly colored, and capable of altering your life." (Hutchinson, Michael, Mega Brain p. 155).

Sex can create the endorphins which make you feel good but exhausted. Endorphins induced by loud, complex music can also create the "sexual" experience without getting you disfellowshipped. In the same way, the deep study of the Words of Christ can produce the elated feeling created by endorphins. However, endorphins created by loud preaching can not cause you to understand the Word if it is not taught. And instructional-preaching is the ultimate oxymoron as students of the lecture know.

Ezekiel Revelation and the Babylonian Musical Connection

Ezekiel warned about the literal trumpets which are ignored by the watchman and then applies it to the spiritual watchmen. Ezekiel, who was speaking for God, would be just like a music-playing prostitute. They would hear his words but they would not make any changes.

Ezekiel says, therefore, that when the musical women were entertaining you it would be impossible to have that life altering experience from hearing from God. Indeed, most musical worship ministeries replace the Word of God with their own sentimental poetry and a mind-altering delivery method which injects the endorphin drug into the main line.

From the standpoint of lasting values, similar studies show that the "spatial IQ of five-year-olds can be slightly increased for about twenty minutes." Therefore, there is no abiding value to music unless you are mentally deranged and that only for the moment if quiet, single-tone (unison) music is played. Otherwise, it is just fleeting pleasure. It is, on the other hand, highly effective in getting the masses involved. But Jesus warned against gathering the multitudes (Jesus always spoke to them in parables because they didn't care) for "commercial" reasons by the use of literal or artificially-induced drugs. Warning of end-time wine skin or "exhilarating" worship services, John wrote:

And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. Re 18:2

For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. Re 18:3

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Re 18:4

Like the king of Tyre and Babylon in the prophets, the things they "lusted after" such as music and entertainment, would go with them into the grave. This is not just secular Babylon (could be the church next door) but a smooth blend of secular merchandizing of the Word with a fertility-ritual or effeminate religion. John wrote:

And the fruits that thy soul (the physical principle) lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty (fat, greasy) and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. Re 18:14 (See Amos 5; 6 and 8)

And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; Re 18:22

The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again.

Your merchants were the world's great men. By your magic spell (pharmakeaia or the ability to alter the chemistry of the body through the poison of magic, sorcery, witchcraft {Gal 5:20}) the nations were led astray. Re 18:23

The Sorcerers used literal drugs like alcohol or forms of morphine. They were the pharmacists in the book of Revelation. They knew that they could get the "worshipper" drunk without wine through loud speaking, dancing, hand-waving and various musical instruments like harp and drum.

"One recently identified neuropeptide causes anxiety, the unpleasant feeling that impels an animal to watch out for itself in threatening circumstances. Vanlum.. blocks the cell receptors... and prevents it from having any effect."

The "burden" Jesus came to relieve was "spiritual anxiety from religious ritual." The clergy laded burdens on the congregation like they would load pack animals. Then, they did nothing to relieve the legalistic anxiety from not measuring up to the clergy's standards. However, Jesus laid upon us an easy burden which is described as just the "invoice" showing that He, as the Ship, had borne all of the burden which would ever be or could ever be born.

"Another neuropeptide, enkephalin--one of the endorphins, a coined term meaning "morphine within"--has nearly miraculous powers. It relieves pain and also produces euphoria, mimicking the action of opiates... this natural painkiller is released in large doses at times of extreme stress, as in battle or in childbirth.

Put the people under stress and they produce endorphins. Put the same people under an endorphin attach from loud vocal or instrumental music or preaching and you produce the same stress although it might be delayed until after the collection plate has been passed.

Get the mob excited? Get em back next Lord's Day? Well, bless your heart of course they will come back. You have injected a dangerous drug into them. Some won't get home before they will need another "fix." However, the feeling is really extreme anxiety--something dangerous is about to happen. Get em ready for fight or flight. They wont know that they are damaged goods when they leave and shake hands.

Many people turn to church in times of extreme stress and anxiety. They need the quiet reassurance of the Word of God. Quiet Dialog can actually change the nature of the brain to replace chemicals. They do not need their body chemistry stretched any closer to the edge. Jesus said that "religious rituals" can produce great anxiety. He said, "take no thought for tomorrow." The program says, "take thought for tomorrow because level 6-Z or our pyramidal ministry system kicks in at 8 O' clock sharp." He said that the same people who produce the extremene anxiety are the very doctors of the law who "take away the key to knowledge." Paul said to the Corinthians, in his really nasty way, "you are so wise" but fools really love to be fooled.

Endorphins Music and the Eating - Mating or Fighting Connection

If your brain hormones, such as serotonin, is at the wrong level, that exciting visiting choir damages the ear drum and you feel like running for your life. By analogy, if you are totally healthy, you can eat all of the sugar you like. However, if not, that pleasant desert can kill you. In the same way, that always-damaging, feel-good music can be tolerated and even sold as beneficial to totally healthy people. However, if the health is closer to the "edge," Loud music (or loud anything) can drive you over the edge. No wonder that the people come and punch the clock and tell the preacher by the rustle of song books that I can't wait to get away. As Paul told Corinth in 11:17, when you gather as a congregation "your assemblies do more harm than good." Never mind, many will be back for another fix:

Remember the Mary-Martha complex? After the ritual is over "Pot-Luck Paula" rules over the flock:

"The sense of well-being or euphoria created by the opiates and by enkephalin seems to involve opiate receptors in a different pathway of the brain from that of substance P. I n addition, another pleasure pathway or 'river of reward' may be actified (by other drugs). Both pleasure systems... reinforce activities essential to survival, such as eating and mating. (The Incredible Machine, NGS, p. 355-356).

However, Jesus and Paul issued an absolute command which is violated every day of our life and twice on Sunday:

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Mt.6:25

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Ph.4:6

Listening to the charismatic speaker or the sexually-attractive, talented, well-dressed, amplified choir leading you into worship, makes you want to have a potluck. However, in a more restrained church society, you are temptingly led into, but then refused, the ancient mating ritual which usually followed pagan worship in Corinth and other pagan cities.

However, stretching your sexual appetite will bring you back next time. Well, of course, they know that. Even the monks understood that as musical worship clergy was added to the early church. The young boys began feminine and, in some cases, were kept that way by castration. Read the newspapers and you will understand the dirty little secret.

In a discussion of the physiological effects of music, it is noticed that religious beliefs stimulated by music create the same pain killers as the stress from running. Or we might note, from an attack of a wild bull or the enemy coming over the hill with a bayonet pointed at your heart. You get the high which produces a fight of flight response but this should be reserved for real emergencies:

"Stress-Induced and Belief Induced Analgesia

"stress induced analgesia- occurs in response to many forms of stressful stimulation and is at least partly dependent on endorphins.

"example- study with rat's feet in which after a series of electrical shocks their feet became insensitive to pain for several minutes

"belief- engaged in by some religious organizations. - placebo effect- a pill or injection which contains no active substance (the placebo) can reduce pain in a person who believes that the drug is a painkiller.

It is a fact that loud music with a jungle beat and with a wide range of voices blending, mixing and confusing the helpful pure tones can produce the same effect as running or sexual intercourse. However, the paying audience might resent it if they found out that the prophetesses (male and female) were just injecting them with a drug to make "the poison go down" without "division."

"Traditional music therapy focuses on physiological or emotional response to music. Obviously, if you have favorite pieces of music that makes you happy, this will tend to enhance the production of endorphins, which contribute to feelings of wellness. The body produces its own natural mood enhancers, called neuro-transmitters. Those that help us relax are called endorphins. Beta-endorphins are those specific secretions that Dr. Irving Oyle calls "joy juice: they help us feel good and are associated with "runners" high--and, I believe, the "high" one gets in listening to pleasurable music. Although there hasn't been a great deal of research as of yet, studies have already demonstrated the music-endorphin connection. In the near future, music will be recognized for its ability to provide a drug-free "natural high" and used accordingly. By Steven Halpern, Ph.D. New Age Music Satan

The inspired model is unison singing of familiar songs with one voice teaching and admonishing one another with the Biblical text:

That ye may with one mind and one mouth (voice) glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ro 15:6

Those involved in musical therapy understand what the values of music can be achieved without fracturing or disassociating mind and body with complex harmony:

"Rumi, a Sufi poet in the 13th century describes the flute as "the musical instrument which symbolises the soul after its separation from God".

So, from drumming to singing, there is always a door waiting to be opened.

The benefits can follow through into a daily awareness of activities which ease stress and anxiety. Vocal therapist Chris James describes how using the voice can be the key: "It's one of the things we're actually born with. We've got hands to draw, we've got feet to run, we've got a voice that has an extraordinary range and ability to charge the brain, to bring us into altered states ...

when people listen to pure tone, it has a very balancing effect...when you use the voice to help align the body people feel it. Even hardened cynics can feel a pure tone through them....'

On the other hand, scientific statements continue to say:

"The recognition that something is dangerous--or else very new or exciting--does more than arouse the mechanism of memory. It also triggers a whole cascade of events in the body through the brain's control of the nervous system and its release of hormones and other chemicals... making the heart beat faster, raising blood presure, and directing more blood to the brain and muscles. The entire body is poised for either fight or flight. We are all familiar with some of the results--the racing heart, churning stomach, dry mouth, and trembling hands of fear. Steven Halpern, Ph.D

That is why the congregation fidgets all through the "celebration" and starts running for its life by shuffling song books just when the preacher is punching in his magic line. The "high" will fall away, they will experience a backlash and be back for another fix.

A lot of this happens when we hear a beautiful musician or choir. We know the excitement, heart-thumping, chill-up-the-back feeling. We even begin to move excitedly. Could we really be on the ragged edge of fight or flight. Have your own hormones go wrong for a spell and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

How else could an "ugly, sexually-ambigious, can't-carry-a-tune, but can make a lot of loud noise to accompany his body language" be worshipped as an idol by both sexes?

Beowulf : Instrumental Music Endorphins Fight or Flight

Oponents of Rock concerts understand that when someone reaches in and takes control of our emotions some very bad things can happen. Not only should we resent any form of mind manipulation, we should understand that we are under the control of drugs. In the end, the highs and lows will prove very destructive:

"When such hyperarousal is prolonged, it can make us sick. Recurrent fight-or-flight responses to chronic stress may lead to heart disease... In some primitive societies, witch doctors punish people who have broken tribal taboos by pointing a bone in their direction. This is supposed to cast a mortal spell. The culprits then believe they are doomed. They fall to the ground, moaning ansd writhing, refuse contact with others, and die within a few days. (The Incredible Machine, NGS, p. 373-374).

The set up by loud, complex music creating fight-or-glight responses is completed by loud, charismatic preaching which is identified as Shamanism. It is pointing the bone (finger) at you, moralizing, lexturing, flattering, shaming and "programizing" to make you feel guilty. If you object he will move the boney finger to set you down and shut up--ritually murder you.

The writer points out that lying expectations that something inspirational is about to happen can make it happen if only in the mind. When we receive our regular Sunday scolding many, moved back to their childhood, feel guilty and do better. This is an example of modern magic. However, Paul warned that the singing and exciting speaking in Corinth was damaging to the people. His advice for both men and women: just sit down, shut up and permit anyone with a supernaturally -empowered message to preside. Otherwise, as he told Timothy, "give your self to reading the Word" and everyone can say, Amen!
