Two of the major "praise" words used in connection with instruments in the Psalms are more related to tribal hatred required to stir up the warriors prior to the attack.. One word iis translated as to "take one's inheritance, prune one's vines, play the flute, pollute and prostitute." The two silver trumpets were given as signal instruments to panic the enemy or celebrate victory as taunt songs. This is why the ALARM which included playing instruments and making a joyful noise before the Lord was outlawed for the ASSEMBLY or Qahal or synagogue in the wilderness. This was because the common people were never assembled except for instructions.
On the other hand, WORSHIP carries the meaning of falling on your face in total humility. This is totally opposite to PRAISE SINGING as one of the oldest superstitions. This taunt the enemy works with bagpipes, the Rebel Yell or Chinese in Korea blowing many trumpets.
MUSIC is universally the language of VIOLENCE and perverted sexuality so don't be surprised that those who are RESISTED by the truth would do violence if they could get by with it.

If you get nothing else please grasp that not among the Jews nor in the most vile pagan temples did the musicians enter into the Holy Places. You can poison it, or burn it. It might not survive if all the limbs were lopped off.
But men usually choose to kill a tree by cutting down its trunk.
We take an axe or saw to it not far above the roots and "fell" that tree.
Likewise a system of doctrine may be destroyed in various ways. It might be poisoned (or sweetened in this case) by injecting a different spirit into those who hold the doctrine.

Briffault (3 121-157) takes his origins right back to the earliest fertility rites of Greece which were exclusively the province of womens religion.

Her grieving husband followed her to the underworld and, by playing on his lyre, charmed the deities into releasing her. The one condition was that he should escort her back to the upper world without looking at her. He did look, however, and Eurydice disappeared.

The viol is similar to and has the same meaning of the Witch of Endor's FAMILIAR SPIRIT and Paul's SOUNDING bronze. These MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS were used by Satan or Lucifer to BLEED OFF worship due only to God. While God gave them REST, the musical bandits destroyed the forests to ENSLAVE the people. That is why the musical enchanter in the garden of Eden was a serpent and not a snake. That meant that he/she was a sorceress. And, therefore, in the Greek world that meant parasites. That is why they CHEW UP your literal flesh by eating up the widow's living.

If the 100% association by Christ the Spirit between MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS and warfare, oppression and prostitutes cannot prevent people from false accusations and the deliberate sowing of discord, what would a dozen DIRECT COMMANDS do to help?

Long with the battle axe and saw went the BOW and the LYRE as "carnal weapons" or "lifeless instruments."
The "prize" word PSALLO discovered to cover their divisive tracks as late as 1878 for the first time in history, does not mean SING with INSTRUMENTAL ACCOMPANIMENT. The base word means TO PLUCK, no more and no less. You can pluck Apollyon's BOW to make it twang to send forth singing literal arrows or, in most of the literature, love arrows. You can pluck the strings of a lyre or pluck out the hair of a male prostitute or you can pluck out the hair of an enemy to make a "bowstring-like" twang.
The MUSICAL connection, however, which is overwhelmingly documented is that one also SHOT OUT hymns or songs. We still hear, "She blasted the theater with song." Or she shot out a song.
The two major MELODY words in the Old Testament will be discussed in part five of this series. For now, Zamar is associated with PLUCKING or pruning your vines and often to "steal your inheritance." Zamar DOES NOT DEFINE the process but rather shows how the word is USED in the Hebrew. That use includes playing a musical instrument. However, PLAYING and SINGING are two different things: you cannot have one word to define both. Both Zamar and Nagan are translated MELODY or to PLAY but they are ALWAYS accompanied with another word for SING. You SING songs and make melody with a HARP. Melody is never included unless you name the instrument.
How can people grow so insensitive to the truth that they can blame people who lived after 1860s for what always created division and sowed discord and deliberately offended the church? The Bible and many other writings such as the Book of Enoch, Jubilees, etc. show that when your brain makes the physical connection between SECULAR MUSIC FEELINGS and SPIRITUAL WORSHIP, you have fallen and you are not going to get up.

I find it amazingly amazing that false teaching always includes MARKS or "a way of escape." In Ezekiel 31, the Assyrian is defined as the TALLEST TREE IN EDEN. The serpent was a Musical Enchanter. Be sure that you cut down the COUNTERFEIT tree and branch and not the ONE TRUE BRANCH who does not judge by sight or sound.

We have pictures and we have made the NOSE FLUTE out of a BRANCH by using the BARK or of a hollow plant like the Firefly bush which is about as tough as bamboo.
No instruments were added for eight centuries and until A.D. 1250 for general use but excluded from the worship of the Pope as late as the 1911 Catholic Encyclopedia. Division was created in a Synagogue as late as 1815. Hislop notes:
"So certain is it that the instrumental music of Judaism was identified with the Temple service, that the Jews themselves have, ever since the destruction of the Temple, till very recently,

nothing but the influential position of the individual concerned in its introduction, saved him from being summarily excommunicated. Alexander Hislop speaking of instrumental music and denying the High Church position the Christian church uses for authority.
"With such a history, with such facts and considerations before us,
does it not sound strange to hear men say that no principle is involved in the use of instrumental music in Christian worship?
"Such persons can not surely have examined the subject.
They can not have given the subject that consideration which its importance demands.
Nor can it be said, with its nature, tendency, and effects before us, that it is a subject of no importance.
It is not now a question of mere expediency, one in which no intrinsic character inheres.
"A tree with such fruit, an instrument with such a history, has a positive character for good or evil. It has passed the stage of experiment; it has passed into history and now possesses a character, and what this character is its history discovers.

such a thing with such a nature, tendency, and effects, which has secularized the church, which has destroyed and will ever destroy congregational worship, which engenders pride, vanity, ambition, and worldly- mindedness?
"No principle involved in a matter, the bare proposal of which excites alarm for the spiritual welfare of the church, that wounds the feelings of a great brotherhood, that mantles the cheek of many great and good among us with shame and mortification, that makes the heart of many bleed for a cause wounded by its friends! Strange, passing strange, that so many whose intelligence and piety can not be questioned, should so vehemently oppose a measure so innocent and beneficent! [Volume IV: October, 1867]
There is another way: deprive it of the "water of the Word" and it will rot and threaten your life. In the second edition of this review we will look at the ROOT of the problem. The same radical attempt to create a dominant "pope" among the Methodists led James O'Kelly to leave and found the Christian Church. He rejected the notion that the "king" could eject self-motivated preachers from their posts without their having any right to appeal. This "hostile take over" was recognized as more radical than regular denominations and quite identical to the Catholic system using the "High Church" system of Biblical interpretation.
The same ugly root sprouted in the Restoration Movement when J. H. Garrison attempted to establish such a group which was recognized for what it was: A preacher's Labor Union, job assignment, money collecting with children buying "life memberships" and a retirement plan. This plan was pushed in 1905 before the census split the groups in 1906.
True evangelists found themselves, like Paul before them, being shoved out of the nest by a continuing conspiracy of a "located evangelists" to "evangelize" by trading pulpits with another "located evangelist." This Labor Union makes it totally impossible for an aspiring minister to find a "berth on the Good Ship Lollypop."
"This is why churches of Christ are a sect": they depend upon the Bible as it has been delivered. However, Alfred T. Degroot defines the Disciples as a "church" because they are "high church" with authority to change the rules Jesus and the Apostles established. This seems to be the principle of Dwaine Dunning. And while bragging about not knowing or caring about the historical steps to apostasy, it is the universal chant among those who replaced Jesus with theatrical performers to claim that "ignorant, Southern, rednecked" mentality invented the idea of the Bible as authority. This "New" invention of yesterday's "thought leaders" is perpetuated by churches of Christ:

"Biblicism, understood non-pejoratively as "the claim to appeal to the Bible as the only standard for Christian faith and practice,"
was a hallmark of the early Stone-Campbell movement and
remains such for us as present-day heirs of that movement in Churches of Christ.
Over the last several years, an increasing number of thought leaders in Churches of Christ have been suggesting that our biblicistic praxis has been incomplete at best and irresponsible at worst.
Being a "doctor of the Law" repudiated by Jesus doesn't guarantee that the writer can tell the truth. For instance, the Bible and most of church theologians accept the notion that ONLY God's Word is authority for faith and practice.
However, all of the new Antism against non-instrumentalists utterly tells untruth because we can quote you proof that honoring the Word of God was not an evil invention of non-instrumentalists. Click for a document with lots of paintings of historical scholars who GIVE THE LIE to the new Anti movement.
[Shelly's terms: "Decadent and Deliterious." To the non-scholars that means: Rotten and Destructive.]
However, the HIGH CHURCH of just making up a new bible was first repudiated by a pope but he was vetoed by the emperor. Again, the church of England repudiated the right to make rules which would AUTOMATICALLY repudiate musical instruments. However, Queen Elizabeth vetoed. In fact none of the churches ever VOTED to accept the right to add instruments defended ONLY in Israel by the secular king and in more modern times by emperors and queens. See Hislop.
Not surprisingly, it is only in the past few years that a new destructive movement seems to exist solely to denounce "biblicism" of churches of Christ and introduce a totally-new and unique system which is about 150 years old. This allows these new prophets to reject the Bible's own claims, 1800 years of scholarly understanding and the basis for all denominations.
This new "restoration" came at the same time as Mormonism and restoraton preachers and churches became the target of a Mormon takeover. The "high church" pattern can just as easily justify Mormonism as instrumental music.
It might not be so embarassing if there weren't a few readers left to check the facts. For instance, Rubel Shelly ridicules the idea of using the Bible for the way we understand the church. However, there are lots of Biblical statements of the very understanding of the RM leaders and all theologians of note prior to the liberal 19th century filled with "latter day prophets."
Not surprisingly, the Thought Leaders in Churches of Christ include Rubel Shelly and C. Leonard Allen.
We suggest that rather than THOUGHT there is a fulfillment of God's warning to the "prophets" who hold meetings and "steal prophecies from one another." R. Christopher Heard hasn't read history. Instead, there is scholarly intellectual incest so that Rubel Shelly, "an Evangelist by the Sovereign Grace of God" and by His training is now a THOUGHT LEADER in churches of Christ.
Until the Disciple's saw the Restoration Movement as a vehicle to ride to an organization encompassing all CHRISTENDOM with children as "life members" and primarily in the 20th century, the view of the Bible as normative for faith and practice was the universal, well-documented view even among Catholics: Catholics simply gave themselves authority to ignore the Bible.
This is the ultimate end of "Christian Colleges" which would inevitably be taken over.
John Locke would define the Catholics who are "high church" with authority to add or subtract, and Protestants who depend upon the Bible for faith and practice as DIFFERENT RELIGIONS. And so they are. There are gods many and lords many and Christs many so the use of the buzz words does not mean that people are speaking of the Biblical Christ but of the "high church" or Narrative Theology Christ remade in their own image.
Therefore, we need to grasp that however closely people's "roots" sprouted in the same "soil" the Disciples High Church and the churches of Christ using the Scriptures as basis for faith and practices are NOT THE SAME RELIGION. Indeed, Rubel Shelly's use of Narrative Theology indicates that "Christian Liberty" gives us the right to make our own rules. That may mean a "church" which is more successful as a Seeker-Sucker With Sister Singers but it does not qualify as a church of Christ just as it doesn't qualify as a Mormon church. See a level of Narrative Theology which R. Christopher Heard holds up as the fruit of the Thought Leaders.
This is why one can call for conformity to Christ and hate those who don't love and be totally unaware of the Old Testament types involving instruments, the Judas-clergy triumph over in Psalm 41, the Dead Sea Translation which sees the musical terms in Psalm 41, the "musical" events where Jesus rejected and the Spirit guidance of Paul who defined away the Legalistic, animal sacrifice or paganistic instruments and defined the "instruments of God"--the fruit of the lips and of the heart. That was also the spiritual principle under the Law and the Monarchy period: the worship of the clergy and civil leaders "carried the burden" of animal sacrifices. However, the people honored God in their hearts by learning His Word and then practicing righteousness and justice. They were, in fact, protected by God from a direct contact with animal sacrifices of the state when a great instrumental noise was made to hide the horrors of animal slaughter making them painfully aware of a life without a Redeemer.
And this is why there is such violent hostility to any appeal to the Word of God and the legalistic demand that "God hath not said Thou shalt not." The spirit reads while Jesus still speak in parables.
I get worried around axe swingers: I remember that my father (1903-1997) warned his little sister and whack, there goes my big toe. So, let's be careful about trying to destroy old brethren by cutting them down at their roots. My father also hit himself in the back of the head with a pick axe in a deep well: that can happen to you if you are in deep water or in the dark:Sometimes the axe slips off the killer's hands:
Dunning: But men usually choose to kill a tree by cutting down its trunk.
We take an axe or saw to it not far above the roots and "fell" that tree.
ALL of the Biblical information about BRANCHES implicate Dunning and his band of woodmen as THAT WHICH AGREES PERFECTLY WITH being guided by the Devil. As Jesus defined them, "They speak on their own" and knoweth not what they say or they are deliberately trying to silence those who can still worship God IN THEIR SPIRIT and will not tolerant PANS on their payroll.
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree,
and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: De.19:5
There is rarely forgiveness for deliberate, "first degree" axe-swinging.
God sent Saul to the high place of the Philistine to get his musical "change" which means "perversion" as they played instruments while God was being replaced. And if you are going to take an axe to those who won't play in your sand pile you might notice that:
But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock. 1 Sam 13:20
God sent Saul to meet the musical prophesiers from the PhilistineHigh Place as a MARK that the nation was beyond redemption. That is the only place people get their musical instruments fitted with hammered-silver strings and their AXES sharpened: both are defined by the same Hebrew word: an instrument is a weapon.
So, we should also give attention to where we are getting our instruments and who we pick to sharpen our axe.
I would love it if some pro-instrumentalist axe slayer would use the "sword of the Spirit." However,

That was the musical message when Israel's elders demanded "set a king over us." We will not have you speak any more to us. That also happened just before the rejection of the Covenant and the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.
After Israel was beyond redemption for repeating the same musical idolatry as that of Mount Sinai and imposed by God for the wilderness wandering, in Amos chapter 8 the songs in the temple have turned to laments and the people are dying for hunger and thirst for the Word and cannot find it. In chapter 9:
I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. Am.9:1
God would send the serpents (Satan) to bite them and they would go into captivity and most would die or go into "fellowship" with the enemy.
Dwaine E. Dunning: The happiest way to kill wrong teaching is by instilling a different attitude into the minds of those who teach and practice wrongly.
This is at least consistent: if Psallo INCLUDES an instrument then Dunning is correct that NOT playing instruments is to have a bad attitude and who teach and practice ERROR. However, the word PSALLO'S base meaning is to twang a bow string to send a "singing" arrow into the HEART of those Apollo (Apollyon) could not seduce by shooting "love arrows" with his bow.
Without a change in attitude, convincing arguments may simply be ignored as the
- Pharisees turned aside the miracles and teaching of Jesus when they should have been convinced. When they could no longer deny that Jesus could perform feats no human could perform, they then cried,
"Didn't we say you were a Samaritan and had a demon?"
A truly bad attitude is to add instruments without any authority and contrary to all of the collected information from the Bible and church history. A better attitude would be to quit using mechanical devices when you know that no literate non-instrumentalist will ever be able to worship with you. There just isn't time to do our non-mechanical teaching task with time left over to validate what we believe is wrong, divisive and truly sinful if any added practice can be sinful.
The Pharisees were Pharisaical and that is a fact. However, it was the priestly class who conspired to murder Jesus fulfilling the prophecy that Judas would not MUSICALLY triumph over Jesus. This triumph over was always musical.
The Pharisees rejected Jesus for the same reason Israel rejected Him as the Spirit in Israel: they wanted to have fellowship with the Canaanites who were expert musicians. They replaced His Word with their word because His teachings would never have allowed them to take the home of a widow or a widow's mite.
The Pharisees denounced the written Word of God and fabricated new RITUALS specificially so that they did not have to obey the Old Testament.
Musical instruments are most often seen in paganism in "driving out demons" or calling the good demons (gift givers) into their presence.
You know, to the old and new superstitious, the demons lived inside instruments and when you told your "lyre to awaken and teach" then whatever you twanged was interpreted as the message from the gods. Paul's equating speaking in tongues to unsure musical instruments is based upon the pagan practice of the prophetess getting a message over the "vapor" from a crack in the ground or drinking wine or chewing laurel leaves which make my deer foam at the moth and "prophesy."
All nations believed that musical instruments were the homes of the gods or the speaking instrument of demons or devils. Africans baptized their drums made out of "lifeless animals offered in sacrifice" and the Catholics baptized and named their bells and pipe organs.
David tried to AWAKEN his lyre so that it could AWAKEN the Dawn.
The priest interpreted the gibberish and the musician put it into the form of an ambiguous poem or song. This is the meaning of Apollo who is Abbadon or Apollyon. He had his Seeker-Center at the oracle of Delphi. The LOCUSTS were once Apollo's muses or musical performers. They did the Mother Goddes wrong and were sent underground as locusts or grasshoppers which had Scorpion stings in their tail. They MARK and punish those who are addicted to music and scatter those who cannot tolerate paganism in the church.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Because they chose to not be convinced, they were not convinced. Are some no less unwilling today to be convinced by truth?
- The sadly-divided Restoration Movement tries to be united even with some who have no desire for unity unless by everyone accepting their unscriptural law and agreeing to their preferred practice.
Some work for unity by trying to find ways to work around a law which some claim is from God although they admit they can't find their law expressed in God's Word.
This writer can find the prophecies, examples throughout the Bible, direct commands, universal historical agreement and the agreement of all of the founders of denominations. The direct command to SPEAK in order to TEACH and ADMONISH by using the inspired text with one MIND and one MOUTH is as direct as you can get. The direct command is with melody which is parallel to grace in Paul's writings in the MIND.
Some appeal for a different spirit to replace what is clearly recognized as Pharisee intolerance. Many deal with specific divisive doctrines in a search for unity without compromise of truth.
The UNIVERSAL understanding was that the DEMON SPIRITS lived in musical instruments. Even David AWAKENED his lyre in order to AWAKEN God. A noted liberal writer notes that "There is NO OTHER TRADITION."
The instrumental position claims to be "High Church" ala Catholic-Church of England-Anglican-Episcopalian-Methodist with the authority to change the meaning of the text to meet the demands of the time. For instance, huge growth is their supernatural sign to prove them correct. However, John Locke defined the Catholics as "high church" with change authority and Protestants as sola scripture as TWO DIFFERENT RELIGIONS. And so they are and trying to take an axe to the non-instrumentalists will never create union or unity between two different "species" of religions.
The so-called Stone Campbell Movement is a new SECTARIAN group which intends to suck non-instrumental groups into fellowship knowing that MUSIC will wear down opposition very soon because most people would ENJOY being pleasured if their nevers will tolerate it. However, there is not now nor has there ever been much agreement between the Cane Ridge Stonites and the Reformers who, as a group, did not respond to the charismatic antics of music and the Shouting Methodists. The Stone Campbell Movement enlists a few "non-instrumental" preachers who already agree with them and have been active in "stealing the church houses of widows." No Stoneite would give up music for unity. Therefore, Dunning's method of TAKING AN AXE to the ANTI-instrumental position is pure mind control.
I confess it: I don't have any desire to try to worship in spirit when the instruments are abrading my poor brain in order to make it feel "spiritual." You see, an engineer or even a reader understands that those musical instruments are intended to give you a "drug high" and I just don't need any more anxiety being peddled as worship.
If every musical church burned their instruments today I would not be at your church on Sunday: I have all I can do without being so God-like that I can validate every group in the universe.
There is no Law about singing: it is simply a command to teach using the "song" or metrical material of the Bible which makes it easier to memorize. It is possible to do that without adding a law. And common sense would say that you cannot teach a group while the band is playing! So, if there is no law how about minimal common sense and respect of the Words of Christ. To prove it let the preacher who wants the instruments making noise when JESUS is speaking through His word to allow the BAND TO PLAY ONE when he, the preacher, is sermonizing or further expounding or "private interpreting" the revealed word in direct violation of Peter's command.
The Law is needed only if you decide that the clear command to teach with no 'musical' terms used of God Who DOES NOT SAY "thou shalt not use an instrument." And because there is a negative law, this law speaks so powerfully that it even gives us permission to "sow discord" by adding "the works of men's hands" to make our "worship ritual" more exciting based on "the law of economics." I can guarantee that if instruments drove the contributors away, the instrumentalists could find a law before sundown.
There is no law which says: "Thou shalt not use mechanical instruments." A spiritual person does not need such a law. Recognizing the vast gulf between the Infinite, Spiritual God and a dirty speck called man, it behooves man to not try to improve on God's Word: the "hole in the donut" was not the baker's oversight: it makes the donut cook properly. God makes no divine oversights.
There we go again: there simply is no Biblical way to authorize instruments which is powerful enough to overcome the huge "library" of anti-instrumental warnings. So, whatta we do? We just call them Pharisees who are intolerant of those wanting to add instruments into our church.
Dwaine E. Dunning: We rejoice each time another step is taken, no matter how small, that will replace
hatred with love,
bigotry with compassion,
intransigence with tolerance, and
ignorance with an ability to understand a differing viewpoint.
- This study is intended to help make it possible for differing brethren in Churches of Christ to find ways to share in Christian service even while disagreeing on some practices and traditions. Since most systems of doctrine rest essentially on one key or central argument,
- the entire system can sometimes be put to rest by dealing with one key argument. That's what I hope to accomplish in this new look at an old subject.
That means: AXE trumpts Bigotry or:
The "law of silence" trumps clear outlawing of music AS worship, or
"Necessary inference" trumps DIRECT COMMANDMENTS where SPEAK does not mean MUSICATE
Not using instruments, he claims, is based on "hatred, bigotry, intransigence, ignorance but those who use instruments do so because the are loving, compassionate, tolerant, and learned."
If turning the truth upside down doesn't burn you then false humility may get the job done.
Isn't it easy to see that while these diatribes may sound good to instrumentalists who truly hate those who will not endorse them, it is an argument based on "self" or opinion. You can worship with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and pipe organ without my presence.
Why such hostility? I believe that it is the old Jubal story that once you have fallen for music as spiritual rather than a "drug high" there is a sense of desperation needing people to affirm you and your practices. You don't need churches of Christ to make your worship acceptable. You don't' need to convert everyone to the use of instruments in order to make your worship with instruments valid for you. You NEED non-instrumentalists to give you aid in comfort in your utter fall defined in many ancient documents like The Book of Enoch. Why? In these documents you know that you have fallen from the presence of the Lifing God and you will never get up: misery loves and demands company.
But what possesses people to turn almost animalistic when confronted with those who take the liberty to worship the way they wish including not using instruments?
During a "hostile takeover" in Seattle blacks were told that those who resisted instrumental music were racists! There has to be a special place for these people.
The end-time, according to Revelation 18, might see the overwhelming majority engaged in a trumpet quartet when the last trump sounds. The believers will have gone to Jesus "outside the camp" which was away from the temple sacrifices and its music. It will be a tiny group trying to keep away from the axe swingers long enough for Jesus to come:
"Jingling, banging, and rattling accompanied heathen cults, and the frenzying shawms of a dozen ecstatic cries intoxicated the masses. Amid this euphoric farewell feast of a dying civilization, the voices of nonconformists were emerging from places of Jewish and early Christian worship ..." (Encyclopaedia Judaica, 1971 ed., s.v. "Music")
There is never any hope for conformists.

- There is a serious misunderstanding which seems to form an impassable barrier between two large groups of Christians. This misunderstanding must be recognized by us all.

No. That is not the problem. Everyone knows that there is not a jot or tittle or information in the Bible or church history which would suggest that you can worship a Spirit God through the works of human hands. Music has ONE originating source according to the Bible: Lucifer who caused the fall of all of those angels and as a MUSICAL ENCHANTER wholly seduced Eve.
Music is only related to secular parties or the end-time Babylonian Harlot religon. Music is not a Biblical, Worship word.
No instrumentalists ever added instruments thinking that there was Biblical authority. At best, instruments helped boost up human compositions sung in the style injected by the Black community during the "awakenings" and this style demanded a culture steeped in the drum beat of Voodoo. Whites just didn't have it. This causes many to ask: "Are hymns idols?"
The "evil" root is simply not using mechanical instruments in an attempt to worship a Spirit God in our own spirit in utter silence. We have a direct statement from Jesus that God will not be seeking people engaged in tickling the nerves (all of them) of the body and selling that as worship. He will be looking for men like John who was "in the spirit on the Lord's Day." John was not charismatic nor inside the "person" of the Holy Spirit. Rather, John was inside of himself allowing his innermost being or eternal spirit to commune with God who is eternal Spirit. This is the only place God speaks to us.
The roots of division again and again were adding instruments to an otherwise peaceful religious world. It happened to Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians and churches of Christ at about the same time.
How can the human mind believe that if you punch someone in the nose and they bleed, they are responsible for soiling my hand. One who dared bleeds on my worship service is evil and needs to be destroyed--at the roots! Amazing. Amazing!

Those who add non-essentials are always the sectarians.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Men must and will worship. Those who don't find God and worship Him will certainly not fail to pay their respects to some other object of worship. Some worship power. Some worship the human senses.
Others worship the human body.
- Some even make forgetfulness or "nirvana" their god. Jesus encourages worship. From the beginning of time, godly men have worshipped. No doubt worship will continue so long as time endures, and we see that the chief occupation of many in glory will be worship.

This had the same meaning of EXTERNAL SINGING:

And certainly Sister Singers are lust of the eyes. Music appeals to the emotional side of the brain and this is why Paul used musical instruments to define instrumental music. Music actually tickles the sexual parts: the response to music is "fight, flight or sex."
Paul's warning about the sisters not taking authority is based on the fact that "authority" in the Greek world ment sexual authority where instrumental music was a primary "carnal weapon" or "lifeless instrument."
All of the classical writers who informed Paul and supplied many of the pagan, musical terms, understood that the pagan priestesses and prostitutes used instrumental music. It has the powerful effect of making people forget their old principles and be seduced into whatever the musician wants you to believe at the moment. The Oracle of Delphi was manned by Apollo deceiving sailors and seducing them with instrumental music. When they got there they had a seeker center second to none. Music was the power over all of the transients who needed to have their pockets cleansed before they left. Apollo is Apollyon or Abbadon.
Hermes was the Satan type as the father of musical instruments and of thieves and liars. He is seem much like the Jubal or Genun character in parallel accounts. He is also the fallen angels of the Book of Enoch quoted by Jesus, Peter and Jude about 128 times. God's coming with ten thousand of His host to execute is based on Satan's luring people into rejecting the Word and refusing to teach it by replacing it with mixed-sex choirs and instrumental music: the same sexual authority Paul warned about.
God equated not listening to the Word to the lust of a musical performance which, in this passage, was related to a sexual encounter at the pagan temples. This love is amorous love and is the meaning of the "organ" handled (without authority) in Genesis 4.

The king of Babylon and of Tyre were king/queens and agents or images of Lucifer (the Zoe-Beast character). Tyre was a commercial-religious prostitute and literally used female musicians to "take away the key" to property. See the Wen Amun Story. That is they used lust as a weapon or instrument just like Judah:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot. Isaiah 23:15
This is the song of the prostitute: "Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered. Isaiah 23:16
When instruments were intended they are named: "sing" and "make melody" with "a harp" or other instrument. No naming of instrument none can be assumed.
The king as Lucifer was bisexual and wanted to be "remembered" as a male.
Dwaine E. Dunning: When Jesus in Matthew 4 and in John 4 used the word we translate as worship, He made us aware of the importance which is implicit in the idea of human worship of God -- of the relationship between God and every man and woman. We are each to worship God. However, some of us have redefined worship to mean to participate in a religious "service" at a particular time and place.
- This is a sharing in rituals of a religious nature, normally directed by a "worship leader." The results of our misunderstanding of what true worship is have done and are doing great harm to the body of Christ.
Jesus said that worship was only in the PLACE of the human spirit using the Spirit OF TRUTH. Paul said that the converted Jews NOW worshipped IN the spirit as opposed to IN the flesh. Paul warned that "worship" which breaks out will be plagued by the dogs and concision: these were the Cynics who attracted mates by their form of "singing" or howling which sounds like "praise singing."
This was not "worship" as defined by men like Thomas Campbell. This definition is a product of the "located evangelist" (as in "located traveling salesman") who had turf to protect even from the dwindling number of true evangelists who obeyed the Great Commission to go preach the gospel with no demand to "establish worship rituals."
Thomas Campbell saw worship much like the Synagogue where reading the Word was a primary act. You cannot worship God by singing your own songs: you tell God that your words are more important than His and He cannot be instructed and needs no ritualistic praise.
Because this is the source of the "boil" the only way to cure the patient is to '"lance it" and sent the "evangelists" into the field or to the local employment agency.
Nothing could hinder this more than adding a talented organist who, in the 1860-70 could earn up to $5,000.00 a year--a huge fortune in those days. The motive was to seduce people through the "lust of the eyes and ears" and steal sheep from the Methodists.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Some assume that Christian worship is when people get together to share in listening to a sermon, listening to a public prayer, listening to a "song service," partaking of a communion "meal," and putting money into a collection plate or box. Deviation from traditional practice which includes these, and only these, five acts which are said to be "items of worship" is by these folks denounced as being "false worship" or "will worship." Naturally, they think those whose practice differs from what they think is right are doomed by their ignorance and "disobedience" to eternal death.
That is fine with me; here is what you have:
Universal agreement that PAID PROFESSIONALS are not part of a faithful assembly. Without the need to turn the assembly into RELIGIONISM no one would have wildly imagined that an organ can AID worship which is "holding the thougts of God in YOUR mind or spirit." Even those claiming to be apostles were fed for two or three days in which he could "preach the core gospel" then the found him a job or the soonest ass out of town.
Paul denied that laying by in store is an Act of worship. By removing that burden the Dunnings will have to sell cars or something.
There is no act of worship called SINGING. Paul used the word TEACH and the resources to be read are the inspired text.
One might suppose that where Dwaine E. Dunning meets they do not do these five acts of worship and have gone further: added vocal and instrumental or theatrical performance. Until that is removed the 'axe' is not sharp enough to get the job done.
Lay by him in store. Giving to the needy is honoring God. We give to evangelist or other person against whom there is no law to prevent our sharing
However, the early church recognized the need to have surplus money for certain reasons. Love permits collecting money without a law. However, instrumental music is something which defeats the absolute demand to teach one another and it is not permitted in the name of Paul's definition and common sense.
I have noticed that the preacher or elder will accept a check in the mail or on Saturday morning. So, we don't see giving as a ritual but as an outward expression of our seven-day love.
True: singing is not an act of worship but the result: the direct command is to teach or preach. Now, no preacher will allow the organ to play while he is preaching but it is perfectly acceptable for the 200 horsepower pipe organ to blow the "flutes, meaning to pollute or prostitute" while Christ is trying to speak to us and through others. The clearly commanded resource is the Word of Christ or Spirit of Christ just as the Synagogue used only the Inspired Word. The result is singing and melody in the heart. Why? Why, because external melody means to 'grind into a fine powder' as you panic the enemy with the "twang" of a directed arrow. It is related to the SOP Jesus fed Judas and the Judas Bag was "for carrying the mouthpieces of wind instruments."
Singing is still a way to teach among Jewish and Muslim children. However, they don't sing idle songs but they memorize great portions of their Scriptures in the process. Singing creates a sense of unity but the "idolatry of talent" separates us from them. When the Greeks read or recited a poem or song they are said to have "sung" as with prose you read it.
However, during the Law, the Synagogue and the church there was a demand to meet together for edification and the Lord's Supper. And Paul in the "singing" passages shows a method for teaching the Psalms without external music. This would allow participation by everyone. The "Sunday" service was understood to be based on the command of the early church. That worked until our scholars decided that they didn't.
The Lord's Supper is associated with the First day of the Week and we have no reason to try to ignore the Biblical examples just because we have liberty. Legalism or Phariseeism is "taking liberties with the revealed Word of God, in order to substitute their own and for the purposes of earning money."
Where two or three are gathered they can take the Lord's Supper and speak the truth with the singing and melody in the heart. This is not an optional practice.
Preaching proof-text or "improve the spiritual health of the audience" is not an act of worship. Indeed, Jesus said that these professionals "took away the key to knowledge."
None of this: absolutely none of this has anything to do with the addition of instruments in an attempt to 'worship in spirit.' Instruments have only prostitution, social gatherings, pagan worship and the like the nations animal sacrificial system of Israel which was "added because of transgression."
Know what the transgression was? Well, it was "rising up to play" at Mount Sinai. This was the worship of Osiris whose agent was Apis the bull and whose image was the golden calf. This was instrumental music along with other events.
Dwaine E. Dunning: I do not intend to say that whatever any person decides to do in worship and service of God is automatically right and pleasing to God.
Paul urges that whatever we do together is to be done decently and in order.
If it's worship, we'll not forget that Jesus says it's to be done in spirit and truth.
That is, we are to be honest, genuine, and with every intention of honoring the God who made this world and who calls us to worship and serve Him.
IN SPIRIT is the place of the human spirit or heart, as in SPEAK (externally) to ONE ANOTHER while at the same time SINGING and MAKING MELODY in the HEART (internally).
Jesus defined worship as IN SPIRIT.
Paul said that the converted Jews now worshipped IN SPIRIT
Jesus give REST which means STOP the singing and stop the RHETORIC.
Jesus said "Come learn of ME." This was not a command but an invitation to the ONLY Place God seeks you.
Paul OUTLAWED pleasuring one another because it was anti-Christian (Rom 15)
Paul said that the way to GLORIFY God was to:
........ Speak "that which is written" and this was by the Spirit of Christ (1 Pe 1:11)
........ By using ONE MOUTH and ONE MIND.
........ He does not used the word SING or MELODY because in Ephesians and Colossians he puts both into the heart or spirit.
In Ephesians he outlawed being FILLED with wine which always involved being 'fluted down with wine.'
........ He commanded that we use the SPIRIT which is the Word of Christ (John 6:63)
........ That means "psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" which are ALL in the inspired text.
........ The task was SPEAK to one another: you cannot SPEAK and SING at the same time.
He put both singing and melody IN THE HEART as opposed to SINGING as the PLEASURING WORD in Romans 15 and Melody which was a warrior's term and NOT musical.
External "melody" excludes EVERYTHING but plucking with the FINGERS and excludes a PLECTRUM. This confirms that it was a warfare word and not a worship word.
That which "is written" and "the Spirit" becomes the "Word of Christ" in Colossians. Some things you cannot do decently and in order. Some things done decently and in order are not acceptable to Christ who insisted that God only looks for those competent to worship in the PLACE of the human spirit or in the mind:
Let the word (spirit) of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
........ teaching and admonishing one another
........ in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
........ singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord Col 3:16
Singing with grace IN YOUR HEARTS is parallel to MAKING MELODY in your hearts.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
........ do all in the name (authority) of the Lord Jesus,
........ giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Col 3:17
This is Paul's meaning of the collective assembly: Giving heed to "that which is written, psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, the Spirit and the Word of Christ" RESTRICT the DISCIPLING to the inspired text. That EXCLUDES that which is NOT written by the finger of God.
He says as clearly as possible that this EXCLUDES literaly MUSIC because you cannot worship IN THE SPIRIT using things which create PLEASURING.
Therefore, Dunning is wrong: Paul defines the church or ekklesia or most often a form of the SYNAGOGUE which was a school of the Bible and HAD NO PRAISE SERVICE.
Dunning has LATCHED ONTO the only things which are specificially prohibited by the Bible and common sense.
He knows that this deliberately SOWS discord and shows contempt for the Word of Christ which IS SPIRIT AND LIFE.
Consistent with the ancient stories of Satan's fall, he tries to SHIFT BLAME on those who were PERVERTED and SUBVERTED away from The Living Word.
Paul described the cultural background of two major groups in Rome: the Dionysians and Orphics. Both of these saw musical PLEASURING as indispensible for worship. However, if the kingdom does not consist of eating and drinking it assuredly does not consist with what Paul defined with the word METHUO. It almost always meant "to get fluted or piped down with wine." Wine and music were always twins and you cannot peddle wine without music.
In Romans 15 Paul said that Jesus Christ did not PLEASURE Himself and the church should not either. Defining the SYNAGOGUE, Paul said that they should use ONE MIND and ONE MOUTH to speak "that which is written." Jesus defined two mountains as PLACES where people went to worship in a NATIONAL SENSE: only DRAFT AGE males were required to go three times a year. That is why they could sell their lambs and "LAY BY IN STORE" the proceeds on THEIR OWN ARM and go to the MUSTER rituals and spend it on food and WINE. THIS WAS NOT worship in the PLACE of the human spirit. Dunning-Downen want to worship ENSPIRITED but Jesus said IN the human spirit.

Human intention does not qualify above and beyond what we know about a Spirit God who can only be worshiped in our spirit. Any noise closes down the rational or spiritual nature of mankind and prevents worship "in spirit" or in the thinking part of mankind.
Dwaine E. Dunning: But the entire teaching of a Christian "worship service," however pleasing to our ears and egos, is not based on God's revelation of truth.
It rather is based on human tradition and misunderstanding. Not once in His Word has God described any one of these particular acts as worship. As we have come to use them, such terms as "worship service" or "the worship" or even "corporate worship" in the name of Christ in some "sanctuary" is totally unheard of in Holy Writ.
Then how do you explain why the MUSICALS define instruments as AIDS TO WORSHIP? If his church accepted Dunninngs truth they would fire him, stop all of the programs, find a Biblical literate evangelist and SEND HIM OUT.
Dunning makes his point to say: Therefore, WE are free to make up our own WORSHIP OR RELIGIONISM OR CHRISTIANISM and we gonna add the MARKS of prostitue--male and female--'spite of hell.'
But Jesus died to remove the burdens and the professional burden laders and to give REST which word defines stop the music, stop the preaching, just sit down and shut up as I HAVE GIVEN YOU AN APPROVED EXAMPLE.
To gather or assembly in Paul's writings is a form of the Greek SYNAGOGUE. "There was no praise service in the synagogue any more than they would permit it in the ekklesia or "county court." Paul's UNIQUE worship word is to GIVE HEED to the Words of Christ. Therefore, PAUL defined the same worship as the synagogue with the addition of the Lord's Supper. This is why there was NO PRAISE SERVICE in the Biblical or early history churches of Christ.
But, Jesus said that worship is IN THE PLACE OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT. Could anything be any clearer. To SEAL it he said don't STAND and make prayers (sermons) so you can CHARGE for them and even have "musical" groups STEAL THE CHURCH HOUSES of "a cappella" widows. Jesus PAID the temple tax and the TITHE. The act of WORSHIP was that ALMS (not a retirement plan for the idle rich) went very secretely from what I LAID BY IN STORE by MYSELF into the hands of the DESTITUTE. The act of worship was to READ the Word (as Paul commanded Timothy) and have the UNcommon decency to sit down and dialog. The act of worship was prayer in your own innermost food pantry: quiet and dark like the most holy place. The act of worship was to GO preach: a shepherd goes out.
Paul identified the ASSEMBLY or GATHERING of the people using a word for SYNAGOGUE (Ekklesia). In the SINGING passages which are SPEAKING or PREACHING to one another passages, and to Timothy worship was "giving attendance to the public reading of the Word." To the elders it was to "teach that which HAS BEEN taught."
But we would further say that this is not based on human tradition. Like the musical king/queen of Tyre and Babylon and Judas who is directly implicated in music (Psalm 41), every false effort to minimize the Word of God and to deny God's authority to speak in "the tiny voice of a whispered silence" (with Elijah) has a "control agent" and his name is Lucifer (Zoe). See how the "musicians" who were WARRIOR panic sounders would MOCK Jesus to death to the beat of WARRIOR music.
This afflicts all sides of the Restoration Movement. However, most of it flows from the organizational efforts of the Disciples where J. H. Garrison intended to sign up children as "life members" and build an organization which would encompass "Christendom."
Dwaine E. Dunning: As Jesus used the word, worship can be employed to show respect to God or to superior men (see Matthew 2:2; Acts 10:25). As used in reference to man worshiping God, most Bible uses occur in John's Revelation. There it refers to heavenly adoration. John explicitly warns us against worshiping other people or things, or even angels. We are to worship God and Jesus, and them alone.
Worship means to GIVE HEED TO or to pay attention to. Dunning is absolutely certain that when he mounts the BEMA [high place] and the Sister Singers begin to PERFORM all eyes and all minds are GIVING HEED to them in a sexual way. You CANNOT watch someone PERFORM and think about God at the same time. The reason Jesus didn't define RITUALS OF WORSHIP is that he defined the ekklesia or synagogue or school of the Bible where the twos and threes could COME LEARN OF ME.
Common sense or minimal grace would not PERMIT you to make music while Jesus is teaching us.
The WORSHIP word in Matthew 2:2 is;
Proskuneo (g4352) pros-koo-neh'-o; from 4314 and a prob. der. of 2965 (mean. to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (lit. or fig.) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): - worship.
Now, you simply CANNOT do that and 'make music' which at this time would have been SCREECHING and SCREAMING and waving your hands and GIVING HEED to the music and musician. That is outrageous.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jn.4:24
What heart rending Grace: YOU worship with machines and SPEAKING ON YOUR OWN which, to Jesus, defined sons of the Devil. You NEVER worshipped with instrumental music: YOU were outside of the gates and YOU fell on your face and even if a Levite musician entered into the place where God dwells--the Most Holy Place--you would be run through with a sword.
But, NOW, you are free: YOU can fall on your face but now in YOUR human spirit as you GIVE HEED to the TRUTH.
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him Acts 10:25
........ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. Acts 10:26
Musical and performance worship team are increasingly identifying themselves as priests and "mediators between man and God." That simply does not happen in a true church which has no performance. Theatrical performance including musicians was always implicated in the Classics in nakedness and perversion somewhat like theatrical performance in Hollywood.
Dwaine E. Dunning: The Ethiopian and Paul are reported to have worshipped in the Jewish temple (Acts 8:27; 24:11). This was referring to Jewish worship practices rather than any Christian practice of worship. In an earlier time Jacob "worshipped, leaning on his staff" (Hebrews 11:21). And one more specific act of worship is noted in 1 Corinthians 14:24, which is falling on one's face.
The Ethiopian was a JEW: remember? Paul never entered the holy precincts because he didn't want to get killed. Paul remained a national Jew. However, keep on reading and you will discover that Paul worshipped in the NEW PLACE of his own spirit.
If you want to fall on your face ONE AT A TIME but without an assembly or school of the Bible, that is okay. However, if Paul fell on his ace how in the name of sanity does that give US the right to deliberately SOW DISCORD by "making music" which outside of the court meant that singers and musicians were prostitutes and sodomites? Both Paul and the Ethiopian worshipped IN THE COURT: neither could be in the presence of the musical SOUNDERS outside of the holy places. Much less could they "come boldly before the throne." God only accepted the LIKE THE NATION'S TEMPLE as a place TOWARD WHICH people could pray:
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for
........thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Ps.138:2
The temples at Mount Gerezim were LITERAL PLACES. Jesus told the Samaritan woman that since Christian worship is IN SPIRIT worship rather than IN FLESH, the PLACE of worship must be changed:
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit (A PLACE) and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:23
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (A PLACE) and in truth. John 4:24
The Samaritan was wiser and more ethical than the Anti-singing churches:
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come,
he will tell us all things. John 4:25
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. John 4:26
Therefore, the ONLY worship is in the place of the human spirit. Only baptized believers can come boldly before the throne of grace or the Most Holy Place--one at a time--where Christ who IS the Spirit will TELL US ALL THINGS. If you replace the preacher who cannot tell the truth about Satanic music or give heed to the musicians you CANNOT be worshiping in the spirit where ONLY Christ speaks to the Christian.
The Ethiopian's worship would be to fall on his faith and he was not permitted to engage in a musical performance. Paul knew his "abcs" and grasped that the PLACE for worship is in the human spirit:
For we are the circumcision, which
........ worship God in the spirit,
........ and rejoice in Christ Jesus,
..... ........... and have no confidence in the flesh. Phil 3:3
"Music" is 100% devoted to the FLESH and you can have no confidence: Hitler could use Wagner to lead the good church worshipers to BURN UP millions of those who would not BOW to either their "trinity" or their "performance worship." It appeals to the LUST OF THE EARS and flesh.
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh.
........ If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Phil 3:4
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly;
and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit,
........ and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Ro.2:29
I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother;
........ but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia. 2 Co .2:13
Paul understood that Jesus demanded that God DOES NOT EVEN SEEK your worship OUTSIDE of the Spirit He made into A holy spirit at baptism. Therefore, he is never seen SINGING or MAKING MUSIC in any church assembly.
Paul worshipped in the SAME PLACE where he had NO REST. He did not REST by being enthused or made charismatic by music; he had no rest IN THE PLACE of his human spirit.
All music puts the confidence in the flesh and not in the spirit which is immobalized by musical sounds.
For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son [truth],
........ that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Rom 1:9
I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience,
........ that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; 2 Tim 1:3
The gift of A holy spirit at the time and place of baptism in Acts 2:38 is A good conscience or consiousness in 1 Peter 3:21.
Paul was not a priest nor a Levite. Therefore, he could not worship in the Temple. In the case of Jesus, the meetings were usually in Solomon's Porch which was a public place for everyone to gather and hear the wrangling of public speakers. If Paul had been in the area when instruments were sounded during animal sacrifices He would have fallen on his face or been killed.
Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship. Acts 24:11
And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man,
........ neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: Acts 24:12
Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. Acts 24:13
But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy,
so worship I the God of my fathers,
believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: Acts 24:14
Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple,
........ neither with multitude, [a large group which defines a rabble and not a synagogue]
........ nor with tumult. Acts 24:18 [not with wailing, or clamoring which produces fright and RAISES UP]
The "naos" is the holy precincts but Paul was not there:
Hieron (g2411) hee-er-on'; neut of 2413; a sacred place, i.e. the entire precincts (whereas 3485 denotes the central sanctuary itself) of the Temple (at Jerus. or elsewhere): - temple.
Worship means to "prostrate oneself." Now, try holding bowls of incense and harps of God and falling on your face at the same time. This can happen only if the incense is prayer and the instruments are those given us by God: the lips and their fruit.
Dwaine E. Dunning: But not once do the traditional five "items" or "acts" which some say are acts of worship appear in sacred writings of the church of God. They are never referred to by use of any of the several Greek words which are translated in English as worship. And these five acts are in any case what occupied all the days of those early Christians. They were not saved for Sunday use only. In the same breath as Luke reports that the early Christians continued steadfastly in these four things, he mentions that they ate together from house to house. He was not reporting on their Sunday "worship."
Undoubtedly true and one suspects that this is the "root" which does not make a fruit-bearing but a temple-building, priest controlling, Levitical musicians noise makers and the souls of the "audience" offered up on the sacrifice of self-seeking men who wittingly, unwittingly or half-wittingly are agents of Satan. Jesus called them the Sons of Satan and a Den of Vipers.
However, you can destroy the church; root, trunk, branches and fruit and you will not have come an inch closer to authorizing instrumental music which has its total roots embedded in paganism (yes, even in the temple."
Dwaine E. Dunning: What exactly does Jesus speak of when he mentions to the Samaritan woman that men in a future time would not "worship" either in Samaria OR Jerusalem. The word particularly means, "to kiss the hand toward." This is a specific action rather than denoting just general activities. In that day worship was often accompanied by another very specific act. The worshipper fell down before the one being worshipped. His posture indicated his humility, his subjection to the superior being.
Whatever it means Jesus put it TOTALLY inside of the HUMAN SPIRIT as it is devoted to the TRUTH. Jesus invited the twos and threes to COME LEARN OF ME. That is the meaning of WORSHIP almost totally used by Paul. This meant to GIVE HEED to the reading and discussion of the Word. Jesus built an ekklesia, synagogue or school of the Bible. The German word was SKUL. Thomas Campbell called it A School of Christ. Dunning and those seeing godliness as a means of financial gain have just INVENTED things like complex harmony which has no connection to Biblical melody. Because the professional rhetoricians, sOPHISts [serpents], singers and musicians WILL NOT give up their professions, Dunning is just whistling through the cemetary hoping that no one catches on. Nevertheless, he is wrong: Jesus, Paul and early history clearly defines WORSHIP but preaching and the musical presenter was "one of the first heresies largely pervading the church."
The Gerizim temple worshiped like the "rising up to play" in the wilderness and condemned by Amos as identical to the star worship to which God abandoned Israel in the wilderness. The Jerusalem temple was permitted by God but it was also the place of animal sacrifices which supplied the Jews with the only rationale for instrumental noise. See how Amos condemned the CAPTIVITY AND DEATH sentence imposed because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.
Because these are "places" the worship in "spirit" is a place in the heart. As the Temple NAOS is the Holy Places and specifically The Most Holy Place, the Mind as the temple of Christ the Spirit is the NOUS.
When Israel committed musical idolatry at Mount Sinai, the people became "strangers" and the Levites kept them away from God's symbolic presence in the Synagogue and Temple. That is why the people's congregation never, never worship with "singing and instrumental accompaniment" in the temple.
After putting down the temples as places and therefore outlawing instrumental music which was "locked at the hip" to animal sacrifices, Paul says that "we can come boldly before the throne of Grace." In the type any musician or anyone else who tried to "go with the high priest" into the most holy places deserved death.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Especially in light of this actual meaning of the word Jesus used, it is hard to accept a claim that the only ways to acceptably worship God are the four "Acts of worship" in which early Jerusalem saints daily continued, plus the congregational singing we also want to call worship, which needs other "proof texts."
So true: Jesus fired the doctors of the law because they 'take away the key to knowledge.' He fired the Pharisees because they TOOK LIBERTIES with the inspired Word so they could PEDDLE it. The Hypocrites were SECTARIAN performers: rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents in the book of Revelation), singers and musicians pretended to be sorcerers. In fact, the Greek resources all identify all PERFORMING RELIGIONISTS as PARASITES.
Paul recognized that a temple servant deserved his DAILY DOLE OF FOOD but only when he was on duty. However, because the MANY flooding the young church were trained speakers who wanted a WAGE, Paul identified even voluntary help as ROBBERY. You simply cannot PEDDLE the gospel which is GOOD NEWS in that it peels the burdens and burden laders off the back.
Jesus identified PRAYER as a personal thing: done at home. Oh, if you pray your PERSONAL prayer out loud Paul said that you should pray in the language of the area and not in your home dialect but people prayed FOR THEMSELVES.
Paul absolutely said to those who preach THE LAW OF GIVING that they are liars because you cannot do something free will and make it into a law.
Paul made it so clear that people have to WANT to misunderstand when he said in three places that the ACT is not SINGING or MAKING MELODY externally. Paul knew that worship was IN THE SPIRIT and therefore he used words like SPEAK, TEACH, ADMONISH. You simply cannot both SPEAK and SING externally at the same time. Both melody or psallo and singing had very destructive meanings: they PLEASURED you and LIFTED YOU UP. Both the odeing and lifting up or excitement are rooted in the word HERESY. The Levitical warrior musicians served (hard bondage) the priests and their PARASITE ritual meant to LIFT YOU UP TO CUT YOUR THROAT.
THIS LEAVES READING AND DIALOGING THE WORD. EVEN THE LORD'S SUPPER IS A SHOWING FORTH OR PREACHING ACTIVITY. THAT DEFINES THE SYNAGOGUE AND DUNNING IS CORRECT: THERE ARE NO OTHER ACTS OF WORSHIP. BUT THAT DOES NOT GIVE HIM THE RIGHT TO SOW DISCORD BY ADDING INSTRUMENTS WHICH WERE IDOLS OR THE HOMES OF IDOLS. Sure, the Catholics baptized pipe organs and "christians" dedicate them.
It is certain that singing modern songs violates direct commands but it does not DELIBERATELY SOW DISCORD.
Dwaine Dunning could prove that ALL of the acts were 100% wrong this would not change the Bible's universal condemnation of MUSIC in the attempt to worship a Spirit God. Nor could it relieve the fact that MUSIC was attached to prostitutes, Sodomites, telling God "we will not listen to your Word" and EVERY failure among the Jewis. It could not change the fact that the so called "Christian" church was the first in church history to use the Bible to try to find authority for what they needed no authority. This happened about 1878 as the war-enriched northern churches tried to CAPTIVATE "all of christendom" in an institution which was a Babylonian form of religious organization which demands music.
Now, here is where we do the "daring to dance with God in the holy place." If Christ made it totally clear that worship is in the 'holy place' or Mind and not in five acts (used by Dunning one suspects), Dwaine E. Dunning interprets that to mean that "because we have gone so far afield we are not restricted from going all the way and adding instrumental music."
Wouldn't one rationally say that if worship is "in our spirit in contact with God's Spirit through His Truth," we cannot put a musical band on wheels in "move them into the presence of God" along with us?
Remember that under the Law, a Levite could not go into the holy places. Musical adders make it clear that their teams are "Levitical Teams" after the Catholic Encyclopedia. A harp-playing Levite who tried to stroll into the dark, quiet place of His symbolic presence in the Word in the Ark under the Mercy Seat would have been immediately destroyed without God's protection.
Dwaine E. Dunning: The barrier to unity brought about by
- our elevating tradition and opinion to the place of law needs correction so clear as to be not misunderstood.
Equating 100% of knowledge acknowledged by 100% of historical scholars to JUST OUR TRADITION is one of those BRANCHES of the terrible one. It falsely equates common Biblical knowledge-for those with eyes and ears-to human tradition and that blasphemes the Spirit. Dunning should take Paul's advice and TURN TO THE LORD and he would be amazed at what Scripture says so clearly that you need evil help to miss it.
- Jesus is our King. His Word is law. Our ideas must never be imposed upon brethren as if they were His ideas or His commands. Though the use of worship as it is used to prohibit instrumental music "in worship" might conceivably be supported by our English definition of the word,
no such justification is found in the actual teaching of the Word.
- Much of our teaching about "the worship" is founded on doubtful exegesis. Our theories may turn out to be a vain attempt to show proper respect and adoration to our Lord.
I have to repeat it for the slow ones: Jesus defined worship as in the NEW PLACE of the human spirit. IN TRUTH means according to Paul to GIVE HEED to the Words of Christ or "that which is written." That defines WORSHIP so that everyone can speak the same things by speaking and "teaching that which has been taught." If you cannot SEE that then you have missed the boat. To the practices of the JEWISH synagogue which outlawed music (Num 10 and all of Jewish history) Jesus added the Lord's Supper to the Christian Synagogue. ADDING something which is not absolutely necessary to carry out that worship is the meaning of SECTARIANISM. You do not NEED and cannot TOLERATE performance sermonizing and versifying silly, erotic praise songs without KNOWING AND WITH A HIGH HAND SOWING DISCORD.
NO ONE ever used the idea of WORSHIP to repudiate the deliberate sowing of discord by adding instruments. The clearly KNOWN FACT is that when you command SPEAKING you eleminate SINGING in an external sense. When you COMMAND "that which is written, the Spirit or the Word of Christ" you exclude--by common, minimal sanity--singing your OWN "inspired" text. When you put the MELODY (a warfare word) IN THE HEART or SPIRIT you put it exactly where Jesus put it. A priest might go into the Most Holy Place where the WORD as TRUTH was under the Mercy Seat. He might even "sing" the song of Moses but it would be IN THE SPIRIT.
MUSIC in all of its forms speaks of sexuality and sexual perversion of the pagan temples. "There is no exception" to the rule that all evidence and traditions give SATAN or LUCIFER credit for using instruments and singing to WHOLLY SEDUCE Eve and the rest. Lucifer was CAST OUT of heaven using the same word Jesus acted when He CAST OUT the musical minstrels who, by definition, would be prostitutes after the PRAISE or MOURING services were over.
What do we gain, If we can decide that 100% of the church of Christ system is totally flawed? This will not change the Biblical and historical facts about music. Therefore, it is true that they only way to get Bible believers off the back of people leading others or forcing others into musical worship is to kill us: strip the leaves, cut off the branches, cut off the trunk, grind up the stump and totally hack, hack, hack at the roots.
But, Biblical roots are hard to kills.
Even you you could wipe non conformist churches off the map the Bible would still be there shouting warnings to anyone with ears. But you cannot reject much of God's Word before He plugs your ears and blinds your eyes so that you cannot see. I know people who have allowed themselves to get so bitter because everyone one dance while they pipe that they truly may be beyond redemption. The fact that they cannot read the "musical" warning is pretty good proof.
Jesus cast out the Musical Mourning Team which was a carry over from Babylon in the Bible as one 'ejects dung' so that Jesus could perform physical healing. There are many places where Jesus repudiates the use of Music such as the Feast of Tabernacles water drawing and others. However, not even the PAGAN Jews were so VILE as to play the flute and other instruments on the Sabbath or OTHER holy days. Not even Jezebel would have permitted that. See how Al Maxey uses the "law of silence" to justify the use of MACHINES to worship a SPIRIT God.
Dwaine E. Dunning: The very "root" (which nourishes the tree through its trunk) of the impressive and ancient "tree" of anti-instrument doctrine is seen to be non-Scriptural.
Non instrumental churches DO NOT ADD anything to the view held for 2,000 years. NOTHING has been added and nothing subtracted. There is NO DEMAND that you have to do something HISTORY has held to be sinful in order to fellowship in a church of Christ.
The "worship" pattern so vigorously defended is not from God but rather is of human devising. At best, then, our teaching of "acceptable worship" reflects human ideas rather than any teaching or revelation from God. We claim to speak "where the Scriptures speak."
Yet in this matter, we do NOT say what the Word of God reveals is true.
Our doctrine comes instead from men.
Sorry, but I don't know how one eats and defecates--much less claiming to be THE AUTHORITY--and believe what the Bible and ALL of church history identifies as a lie. There simply can be no tolerance of such psychological violence expressed in the AXE MURDER PLOT.
The great leap by Dwaine E. Dunning is that because there is no "law" against instrumental music it can be added. Now, if there is no law against located evangelists then we can added them. There is no law for the "collection plate for the non-poor" so we can make up our own law. You have to have been sent STRONG DELUSIONS not to see that Lucifer or Satan as the Holy Whore used music to seduce people away from the Living Word and the Written Word. It needs no proving: Paul's unique WORSHIP word was to GIVE HEED to the Words of Christ. During preaching, singing, playing instruments and singing Fanny Crosby you are GIVING HEED to the preacher, the musicians (Sectarian Hypocrites) and the composer.
Paul said SING or rather SPEAK. Therefore, this comes from GOD and not man.
Downing says SING rather THAN speak. God did not say that. Therefore, Dunning uses the LAW OF SILENCE or he INFERS that music is so important that it is worth deliberately sowing discord.
Only to blinded people is there a total lack of anti-music in the Bible and church history. However, the Bible in many places sees MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS as the MARK which says: We WILL NOT listen to the Words of God. Music was one of the oldest, most ignorant superstitions that you could FORCE the gods to give you FERTILITY.
A PATTERN OF MUSICAL WORSHIP OF THE FERTILITY GOD........

Let us see Dunning get a HARP into the MIND of a person. Isn't it the INNOVATION where "melody as tunefulness" was discovered at the same time Dunning etal ADDED instruments to FILL THE COFFERS?
Again, disrespect for the Revealed Word and not just the New Testament and the stated confession by some of having no interest in the history which reaches from Paul to them, allows one to hallucinate and believe that the churches of Christ suddenly invented an anti-instrumental and anti-scriptural bunch of Pharisees, Sectarians, Hypocrites and Legalists.
This total ignorance among the "unauthorized clergy" is so mind-shattering that we cannot fully grasp how people can claim, against Christ's demand, to be teachers over the flock. The only ethical thing for Dunning to do would be to STOP what we all agree had little or nothing to the ekklesia or Synagogue Christ built as a "school of the Bible" where burden laden people could come in twos and threes to "learn of me."

Unity movements such as led by Victor Knowles, "knowles" from the very beginning that UNITY is not the goal: the goal is that those who believe that attempting to worship a SPIRIT God with "body worship" are being INFILTRATED and DIVERTED into becomming "Christian" churches. Dunning, Downen and Knowles know absolutely that UNITY means that you have to CAPITULATE to my false and truly idolatrous view of worship.
This sounds like James Madison: "You can settle a dispute by logic or you can kill your enemy." Machiavelli said that you can "change them by prayer or force but prayer rarely works."
J. W. McGarvey noting the universal fruit of bitterness introduced every time instruments were forced (including among Jews and Catholics):
Were I of those who think that the propriety of using instrumental music in the church is a question of expediency, I would have much to say in proof that it is inexpedient.

How could continuing to do what your spiritual ancestors had refused to do for two thousand years make one guilty of division because they refused to be forced.
From preachers who claim to be fathers or authoritative teachers we simply cannot accept this as just blind ignorance: we have no choice but to see it as a violent attack upon those who will not do what was historically identified as a Satanic attack.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Look at the stresses on just one of the "approved acts of worship," which is the observance of the Lord's Supper.
Psallo along with ALL musical terms and names of instruments point directly to the Devil. NONE speak of music as a SPIRITUAL force but of STRESS. Some demand only one loaf for the Lord's table. Some specify that the presider must publicly break up the one loaf so it can afterward be distributed to the various ones partaking. Some feel that the bread must be of local manufacture, and entirely unleavened. Division is promoted and demanded over use of fermented or unfermented fruit of the vine. Some contend that the Supper must only be served in the Sunday morning service,and never on Sunday night or any other day of the week.
SOME beat their wives and LUST to have the Sister Singers up front but don't dare. Some even fall for the notion that NOT trying to worship a Spirit God with the instruments which appeal to the LUST OF THE EARS is JUST YOUR EVIL TRADITION.
Why is Dwaine Dunning using guilt by association to DAMN everyone who will not BOW when the clergy Piped? Jesus didn't and neither will any one who grasps the meaning of worship IN THE PLACE of the human spirit. If Dunning is correct--as he implies--that NOT using instruments somehow causes you to interpret CUP as container rather than CONTENT, then can we say that worshipping the music and musician (giving heed to) CAUSES one to interpret IN THE SPIRIT as ENTHUS O MANIA or madness in the SENSES? Does listening to the clanks and twangs and the 'chist of whistles' cause Dunning to look at SPEAK but sees SING? Does it cause him to look at IN THE HEART or SPIRTI and see WITH THE MOUTH?
Some "instrumentalists" are obsessed with trying to FORCE everyone to AFFIRM that their sin of adding music and their sin of DELIBERATELY SOWING DISCORD but that does not make everyone who listens to instruments evil.
Rubel Shelly equates the non-instrumentalists to fire bombers and Joe Beam identifies them as Zealots who were the assassins as in "Judas Sicarri." They understood the guilt clause. They loved to join the mass meetings which Jesus never called.
They slipped up on the enemy they had a "contract on" and stabbed him in the back.
They, they pointed somewhere else and shouted: "Murder, foul murder, catch the murderer."
Again, Judas carried the thief's bag as part of the flute case worn by the perverted agents of Dionysus who are implicated in the "piping" to try to force Jesus to sing and dance.
What possible connection is there between cuppers and the instrumental music issue? The cuppers were a natural product of the clergy crawling on the backs of widows and orphans.
However, none of these people invented the non-use of instruments in worship. Instruments were not in the Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian or Congregational churches. Instruments had never been in churches not controlled by or under the influence of Catholicism.
Therefore, it is pure trickery to equate the non use of instruments to other "traditions" the writer may not agree with but has no authority to destroy.
Dwaine E. Dunning: Each of these particulars is made a test of fellowship by particular congregations and individuals within the fellowship of the Anti- instrumental-music Church of Christ. I observe that the root of all these problems is our misunderstanding of Christian worship. It would seem that each of the two dozen or more splits within the "Church of Christ" (anti-instrument) branch of the Restoration Movement is the result of extending "worship" arguments to what is considered by each segment to be logical conclusions.
When Paul told the Romans: "Don't pleasure yourselves, which points to anything which creates mental excitement or STRESS. The speak with ONE MIND and ONE MOUTH 'that which is written' you don't need no Phd in the Ministry [doctor of slavery] to be able to hear SPEAK as SPEAK and not SING. One mouth can be heard as UNISON and not HARMONY without a "workshop of evil." "That which is written" can be equated to the Words of Christ because HE said "My words are Spirit and they are life."
You EXTEND this only if you tell Jesus: "We WILL pleasure ourselves" which has a musical and sexual connotation. YOU gave us an approved example by CASTING OUT the musical minstrels as one casts out DUNG or as Lucifer was CAST AS PROFANE out of heaven BUT we WE GONNA bring the MUSICAL MINSTRELS in off the streets and make YOU listen while they LEAD you into the presence of God.
It seems fair to conclude that Dwaine Dunning IS NOT going to fellowship those who insist that the CUP must have a handle. If he would not, then how is Dunning any different from those who don't care if you use a GLASS?
The false implication is that there have been no splits in the Pro-instrumental faction. One might say that the Disciples have purged the musical group so that most of the divisiveness has been consumed by the denominational world.
What is more divisive by the instrumentalists is a very venomous attack against the persons of non-instrumental churches. This, too, is understandable based on all of the evidence we have about music and the Enoch connection: when the people fell for instrumental music they knew that they had a problem.

In the Bible, credit is assigned to antediluvian patriarchs, for example, the descendants of Cain in Genesis 4:21. There is no other biblical tradition about the invention of musical instruments." (Freedman, David Noel, Bible Review, Summer 1985, p. 51)
The word HANDLE associated with Jubal means "without authority." Therefore, Jubal and his soothsaying family introduced instruments WITHOUT GOD'S AUTHORITY. In the ancient stories such as THE BOOK OF ENOCH it is Satan who has intruduced music into the child Genun who is Jubal or Yukon.
Dwaine E. Dunning: The root which nourishes the trunk which supplies life to the tree is their misunderstanding of worship.
- It's past time we took appropriate action to restore ourselves to the church as the Lord wants it.
The basic error must be corrected.
John Calvin defines HIS reformation as a Restoration Movement. He CAST OUT the musical instruments as one CASTS OUT DUNG. Zwingli was the more forceful. Dunning etal want to RESTORE the music of the Catholic church. But, they should be aware that the CATHOLIC churches never went as far as the Christian church. Rather, the organ played preludes, interludes and introduced psalms [like a pitch pipe, you know] but they DID NOT sing and play at the same time. When the organ was permitted in churches the CONGREGATION WAS SILENCED. That was the patternism of the Sacrificial System. When you heard the loud NOISE you fell on your face OUTSIDE the gates and didn't open your trap.
Dunning and team have RESTORED something which never existed even in the vilest pagan temples. So, we don't say RESTORED but PROFANED.
In Matthew 3:10 and in Luke 3:9, John the Baptist is quoted as speaking of an axe being laid at the root of every tree which does not bring forth good fruit.
The bad trees must go. If the fruit is bad, the tree is bad, and
there comes a time when that tree should not be left alive.
Tell, us Mr. Dunning, just WHAT FRUIT has becoming a musical sectarian produced except the ALWAYS PREDICTED massive sowing of discord so the ill-attended "worship" service could become a MONEY TREE?
The Bible states and all of church history agrees that LUCIFER taught men how to use musical instruments to STEAL the property of others, to kill them, to CHARM them out of their "pants" and "panties" with music as enchantment. The DEVIL created instruments to overpower mankind's EMOTIONAL NATURE.

Craftsmen are the KORESH in Genesis or the fabricators, theater builders and stage managers. The GRINDERS of the millstones were PROSTITUTES who had their legs spread SEEKING cusomers. If "singing" or teaching through song is agreed to as an act of worship then, as an engineer with acoustics background, I can say that adding instruments makes the "song" something entirely different. That is true: when the Jews lost Jerusalem and the temple, instrumental music ceased for sorrow and also based on the Law. It was simply unlawful to play the music in a religious sense apart from animal sacrifices or outside of Jerusalem. The scattered Jews followed that "law" until AD 1815 in a liberal synagogue. When instruments were added it "sowed discord" and resulted in a law suit and division of a pro-musical synagogue and a non-musical synagogue. And they were divided and they will eternally be divided.
The "evangelists" followed the absolute law to go preach the gospel without counting baptisms or establishing some new acts of Worship. The Jews rejected instruments based on their eternal history in the Synagogue (it always existed) and the pagans rejected instruments based on its purely pagan background. Music is simply not a "God" word.
In the Hebrew a SONG is called a BURDEN. Songs were added to stimulate excitement which is sexual and not spiritual. The purpose was to LIFT people up in "spiritual anxiety" in order to carry them away meaning heresy. The Greek words used of singing carries the same meaning and the feelings were called charming or enchanting. The same concept of HERESY is involved. The COURT YARD "music" was to create such anxiety which enabled the priests to endure the sounds, sights and SMELLS of blood and dung: the excitement meant to "rais them up to cut their throat." Because music had meaning in all "like the nation's animal sacrifices" and because the musicians lived off the sacrifices, they were called PARASITES. As psallo as such a warfare word involved "guitar players" and other musicians they continued to be identified as sorcerers and therefore PARASITES. In the Apostolic Constitutions, ad 205 version of an early set of rules, these MUSICIANS were excluded from membership in the church as they were EXCLUDED from the Holy Place in the secular temple.
The early disciples followed the LAW OF THE SYNAGOGUE which was a school of the Bible: that has not changed. The christian church MADE A LAW by adding instruments: they said and say GET WITH IT OR GET OUT. Then and now opponents were CAST OUT if they persisted in teaching what the Bible says about MUSIC as the MARK of the Devil.

It is a big lie that they will FELLOWSHIP you if you oppose instruments: just ask for time in the pulpit or Bema or HIGH PLACE to speak Biblical truth and you will see how fact the AXE falls. Just don't ever believe that FELLOWSHIP means "we gonna let you teach a Bible class." Don't every believe that you will become a Deacon or Elder or Preacher unless you BOW when they PIPE.
Fellowship means that you CHANGE and REPENT and CONFESS for having sowed discord. Fellowship means that YOU will change and they HAVE NEVER and indeed according to The Book of Jubilees and other documents CANNOT ever again give up Satan's instruments.
That is a fact. There is no law of worship other than that explained by Paul. If outlawing PLEASURING or EXCITEMENT, speaking with ONE MIND and ONE MOUTH "that which is written" is the ONLY WAY to Glorify God then that has Him defining the collective assembly. Worship happens if you GIVE HEED to God in Christ and HIS Words. Making a worship law by ADDING instruments is what caused the division and Dunning etal are in denial.
The "law" is for Synagogue to teach or edify and the resource was Spirit or the Word of Christ. While chanting the inspired text was cantillation it was not "singing" in either the pagan sense at the time nor like the "singing" today. The ALARM which is "playing instruments and making a loud rejoicing to the lord sound" was NOT worship. As with ALL such instruments (remember Gideon?) musical sounds create PANIC and not worship. In Numbers 10:7 this was OUTLAWED for the assembly, Qahal, synagogue or "church in the wilderness." The Isralites totally understood this as a LAW because they never "had a praise service in the synagogue."
Non-instrumentalists didn't begin "Not Playing Instruments" based on prejudice, preferences, customs or traditions.
Instrumentalists obtruded mechanical devices into non-instrumental churches and based firstly on "the law of economics." Secondly, when challenged no very bright fellow would have attempted to argue based on the Bible although they did invent the psallo argument to make a law "obtruding" instruments into the word "sing." The primary proof-text was based on the Law of Silence: God hasn't made a law against instruments so we can legalistically add instruments without breaking a law.
But what about sowing discord among brethren and offending "these little ones." Well, back to the "law of economics." One recent incarnation:
"If we don't add instruments we will have to meet in a phone booth."
But what about the legal document in the deed? How about deliberately driving those who founded the church out into the streets. What about your lying by telling everyone you lost the paperwork?
Well, if they go then they are "sowing discord" and Sister Pastor "issued the first warning."
And if they stay? No. You will not be allowed to sow discord by telling them the truth about the deed or the "old" position about instruments.
The Pharisees were "traditionalists" not because of following the Laws of God but by using the "law of Silence" to change the law sometimes just to silence God's laws. And the "law of economics" further defines the Pharisee and theatrical performers defines the hypocrites.

How would you come to the revelation that: "God does not oppose Christian use of musical instruments?" Why isn't it possible to grasp that God PROPHESIED that Judas would try to defeat Jesus with music along with the priests? Why is there not ONE SINGLE case of music being used and God saying: "Hay, I truly get lustful over that?"
Christian church plants like Max Lucado and Rubel Shelly claim that the Holy Spirit is God's song writer and dance master!
This flows from a total lack of a grasp of the Old Testament and the parallel accounts of paganism which one can still read if one is a reader. Isn't it interesting that Lucifer, the singing and harp-playing prostitute is said to have been in the garden of Eden and wholly seduced Eve (Re. Dunning and Downing cannot find ONE instance of a church of Christ tried to FORCE a musical church to quit. So, it is a big fat lie. Most people could care less what the Christian churches do. They continue to teach and to NOT teach would be to defact agree that the instrumentalists were correct to become MUSICALLY SECTARIAN. That does not remotely FORCE anyone. However, when Victor Knowles promotes his "unity meetings" he USES and associates only with church of Christ preachers who have ALREADY sold their congreations for "just buying my books."
Jesus destroyed music when he defined them in 1 Cor 13 in terms of the NEBEL, FAMILIAR SPIRIT or other "musical" ritual which brought on the PROPHESYING of uncovered women in 1 Cor 11:5. He compared speaking in tongues to the other major use of instruments: MAKING WAR. Paul outlwaed mechanical instruments by defining the HARPS OR INSTRUMENTS of God: the human voice and human HEART which is the only place the WORSHIP takes place. Paul pointed to other things like warning Corinth and Rome against RISING UP TO PLAY. This was the musical idolatry of Babylon and Egypt and Canaan. Because of this MUSICAL IDOLATRY the Israelites had THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT RIPPED AWAY and were burdened with THE BOOK OF THE LAW.

An "approved example" of one church of Christ minister who has ever weaseled himself and a "team" into an instrumental church with the intention of tossing out the instrument and stealing the property: I am waiting.
Anyone who attacks the persons of instrumentalists with the "Raca" word, rather than trying to teach what the Bible really says.
Anyone in churches of Christ who are on the offensive rather than defending the universal-historical and church of Christ position for 800 years.
I don't believe that I have written a word of review for the web which was not against the deliberate misuse of the Bible, church history and a frontal, personal attack against the church of Christ for producing, as Dwaine E. Dunning does, all of the division in the Restoration Movement.
If we believe these attack agents, all of the evils which men can think of are the product of not being "forceable" into the musical camp.
Rubel Shelly demands that non-musical churches fellowship instrumental churches to escape the horrors of being: "fratricidal, traditionalist, legalists, unchristian posture, schismatic, Satanic, sectarian, idolatrous, irrelevant, just pushing junk."
Others add "Pharisaical, Hypocrites, Legalists, Sectarians, Zealots, Racists and on and on." That all adds up to:
I can tell you that according to Joe Beam I may be paranoid or psychotic for resisting his attack but I imagine that I can hear screaming from underground every time I try to quote the "library" of Old Testament material which tells the truth about instrumental music still the most powerful mind-control device known to mankind.
