7. Yes, Church history and the classical trinity calls this heresy: another gospel.
BACKGROUND to latest Gospel Advocate defending the Trinity:
When the musical change agents launched their attack, the RIGHT wing was left naked and without defense because there was no attempt to study the Torah in context or to do the intensive research of Babylonian and other religionism. Moses repudiated a trinity by describing a nation falling into musical idolatry at Mount Sinai as the worship of the Egyptian TRINITY under the real bull calf, Apis, and the golden image.
Ex. 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods [elohiym], which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.God turned the nation over to "worship the starry host" and sentenced them to return to Babylon, Moses wrote the Torah to defend the people against Babylonianism including their triads. If Moses even hinted or implied a "trinity" then he could not be inspired or history literate. Stephen quoted Amos who would point to Sin, Ishtar and Molech as the musical idolatry "rocked" on.
We advanced our thesis in 1980 because it was clear that no Tennessee college prepared preachers to understand that Mount Sinai Event. We began posting in 1997 when the locals under Jubilee began using the cursed Monarchy as authority for "musical praise" along with worshiping the three NAMES of God.
The TRIADS were common to ALL pagans. This is the reason Harvey Floyd wrote that Jehovah must be a trinity. Church fathers note that the "trinity" was a Greek philosophy before it was adopted by the church to fight Arius: even then, no trinitarian defends the modern tritheism. Nor do the Restoration Movement leaders. Amos, Isaiah and Stephen in Acts 7 repudiates the claim of God's spiritual need for the Temple and blamed the Law.

1. THE SHEMA IS THE FOUNDATION OF BEING A CHRISTIAN: DON'T BREAK IT.
Edwards quotes the Shema and suggests that the Jews might not have thought of ONE GOD but that one or echad can mean more than one but united in purpose. This was the view of H. Leo Boles at David Lipscomb which was first published in 1942. This became the doctrine of those churches under the influence of the Gospel Advocate. There, the Godhead is something like a "committee" and are ONE meaning that they are on friendly terms. This was the outcome of Lectures at Freed Hardeman College in 1938. Boles has THEM ranked 1, 2 and 3.
Edwards notes that God had assured Isreal that "the Lord is our God, the Lord is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4 NASB). But what does he include in the term "God" (Yahweh) in this passage? Does he affirm a "numberical oneness of God contradictory to the Christian view of the Trinity," as Earl Kalland notes many Jews would believe?
Because the Trinity is several centuries removed from Jesus Christ and no classical trinitarian needs or permits three PERSONS, wouldn't it be better to say that the TRINITY contradicts the ONENESS?
God here is Elohim: the Lord is YHWH; Jehovah is never triplets. The point is that even Moses was made an elohim and there were many things called "gods" but only Jehovah (Lord) is a TRUE God or ruler of the universe. But, maybe trinity can be squeezed back into the One Lord!
Neither God nor Moses nor schoolboy who they did not know how to say: OUR Lord is the One and Only God. If God had wanted to say, "I Am One" how would He say it so as not to be ambiguous?
Edwards of "ONE not restricted to ONE" says: Not necessarily, because, as Gary Hall states, the Hebrew translated "one" (echad) "is ambiguous." It an mean either a oneness that expresses unity, or it can mean uniqueness" (Deuteronomy, college Press, 2000, 136).
That would be true only in speaking of ONE OF A GROUP: the One is still unique.
Echad (h259)1) one (number)
a) one (number)
b) each, every
c) a certain
d) an (indefinite article)
e) only, once, once for all
f) one...another, the one...the other, one after another, one by one
g) first
h) elevenOtherwise, ONE WIFE might mean TWO or THREE wives?Edwards says that Kalland gives examples (Exodus 26:6, 11; Ezekiel 36)
Gen 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one [was] Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
Lamech had ONE harem but they were not the same: each was still one woman.
Ex. 26:11 And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one.Edwards: Therefore, Deuteronomy 6:4 does not necessarily deny the Trinity, but, also, it doesn't affirm.
Taches are plural but the tent is just ONE tent. If you take one stick and join it to another (echad) then it shall become one whole (echad) in mine hand. Each stick is one stick and they become joined or one in God's hand.
2Sam. 2:25 And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
If words have any meaning, the Shema denies the Trinity which was the polytheism the Shema was given to gurad against--with little luck.
It was because of the musical idolatry of the Egyptian trinity at Mount Sinai that God took away The Book of The Covenant of Grace. He turned them over to worship the starry host (trinities) and came with a firey law as The Book of The Law. A primary object of the Law was to guard a lawless tribe from joining the trinity band in Canaan. At the same time God sentenced them to return to Babylon because they would NOT cease their polytheism and neither will the overwhelming majority even now.Declare what is to be, present it--let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past?
Was it not I, the LORD? (Jehovah)
And there is no God (Elohim) apart from me, a righteous (1) God and a (2) Savior; there is none but me. Isaiah 45:21Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah 46:9 (There could be no co-equal gods with Him)
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Isaiah 46:10
There are many gods but only one Lord God: no one ever thought that Jehovah was made up of three persons.
THE SHEMADt 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD [YHWH] our God [Elohiym] is one LORD:
Dt 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD [YHWH] thy God [Elohiym] with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Dt 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Dt 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way,
and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.Dt 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Dt 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Jesus confirmed the Shema to permit only ONE god:
Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together,
and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him,
Which is the first commandment of all?
Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him,
The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
There is none other commandment greater than these.
No Scribe could possibly think that Jehoval was three persons! No Jew and no Muslim can be other than hostile to polytheism.
Because "god" or elohim and theos can identify false gods--
God g2316 Theos 1) a god or goddess, a general name of deities or divinities, a) God's representative or viceregent. 1) of magistrates and judges --Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth:
And because it took THREE gods to make the usual pagan trinity, If Jesus permitted a "trinity" in the original Shema, then He is saying that there are three GODS. But, that would make Jesus and Moses liers.
Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
Heis (g1520) a cardinal number, one, in opposition to many.
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters [kurios]: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding,
None other means none other. He means He and not they. Him means Him: you cannot love TWO Kurios or Lords.
and with all the soul, and with all the strength,
and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Mark 12:34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him,
Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.
And no man after that durst ask him any question.
Because Jesus is the head of the church and king of the kingdom, you cannot give just part of the authority to the SON and be very close to the kingdom. Most divison comes from people hearing the Spirit apart from Christ to whom the Spirit belongs.Dt 11:17 And then the LORD'S [YHWH] wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD [YHWH] giveth you.

Why work so hard to deprive your children of the blessings of the Lord who is ONE? when Jehovah has worked so hard to make sure that we cannot be mistaken:

2. THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE TRINITY
"Warfiel says "when the Old Testament as a whole is studied to see if it speaks of the Trinity, one "may fairly see hints of and underlying implication of it" ("Trinity," International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, 1939)
Warfield notes that one such sign is found in Isaiah 61:1."
(NOTE.--In this article the author has usually given his own renderings of original passages, and not those of any particular version--EDITORS.)
To the contray the Old Testament goes to extremes to guard against seeing Him as the elohim: rather He is Jehovah the ONLY true elohim.
Earl Edwards quotes this passage and notes that "seven centuries later, Christ quoted these words and applied them to himself as the Messiah (cf. Luke 4:21). But was Christ saying that Isaiah was quoting Him (Christ), or was He only a typological fulfillment of Isaiah's words?
"Edward Young, in commenting on Isaiah 61:1, adds there "is a notable contrast between Spirit at the beginning of the first clause and me at the close of the second, and in each clause the Lord is mentioned. This is a Trinitarian shade that should not be overlooked" (NIV Commentary)
In fact, if the above is the correct deduction, then all three persons of the Trinity are mentioned here, around 700 BC. However, though such seems likely according to this writer, it is not a certain conclusion in this Old Testament passage.
So far, the best Jehovah the elohim of those in the Bible can only hint, sign, imply or shade the trinity. On the other hand the Bible is fill with statements such as "there is no god besides me." There was no one with me.
1 Peter 1:11 and Revelation 19:10 notes that it was the Spirit OF Christ which spoke through the prophets. Because there is only one Spirit, when God provided a Visual Aid to John and others it was the Father (thought) of the Words of the Son and it was the Breath (Spirit) OF God speaking through Jesus of Nazareth now affirmed as speaking FOR the One God Who always had His Word and Wisdom with Him.
Furthermore, no historic trinitarian ever used the word "person" but personae and repudiated the notion that the personae of the Godhead were ever "separated."
Let's play Back to the Bible and look at Isaiah:
Isa 61:1 THE Spirit OF the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
The Spirit OF the Lord which rests UPON His agent means that He speaks the very WORDS of the Lord Whose Spirit is providing the words.
In both Hebrew and Greek the words for "spirit" speak of the mental disposition or the mind of someone or some thing. "He had a nasty spirit" does not mean in any ancient literature that he was twins or triplets.
Now, look at the fulfilment--but not so fast. First, look at:
Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass,
that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
and a voice came from heaven, which said,
Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
3. JESUS AND THE DOVE PARABLES--The hostile feminist and effeminate takeover.
Jesus said that truth had been hidden from the foundation of the world in parables. He never spoke to the masses without using parables. Some of them were acted or contained information--as did the Shema--to keep us from worshiping triads of which the Mother Of Harlots (Revelation 18) assumed the superior position.
This is a warning against Gnosticism. Sophia or Wisdom is the feminist (effeminate) superior of Jesus and even of Jehovah. She is known as the SEREPNT. Her daughter, Zoe or Eve, is the female instructing principle, mediator and know as THE BEAST. Click for the details.
Then the female spiritual principle came in the snake, the instructor; and it taught them, saying, "What did he say to you? Was it, 'From every tree in the garden shall you eat; yet - from the tree of recognizing good and evil do not eat'?"
The carnal woman said, "Not only did he say 'Do not eat', but even 'Do not touch it; for the day you eat from it, with death you are going to die.'"
And the snake, the instructor, said, "With death you shall not die; for it was out of jealousy that he said this to you. Rather your eyes shall open and you shall come to be like gods, recognizing evil and good."
And the female instructing principle was taken away from the snake, and she left it behind, merely a thing of the earth.
WOMEN IN THE CHURCH: Reclaiming the Ideal, Carroll D. Osburn"Feminist hermeneutics stands over against patriarchal hermeneutics" its goal achieved
Jesus did not give a baptismal formula but made it clear that HE had all of the authority which would be summarized in the pagan "father, son and spirit" or as the Catholics really adopt a Babylonian or Egyptian trinit, "Father, Mother and infant Son." When Israel repudiate the covenant of Grace and rose up in musical idolatry of the Egyptian Trinity it was Osiris, Isis and Hathor or other triads. The primary Babylonian triad was Nimrod, Tammuz and Semiramis (Mother goddess); or Shamash, Sin and Ishtar (Mother goddess)"by small, often unnoticed acts of subversion. Numerous such incremental changes, like erosion, will eventually bring down the fortress " ( p. 32).
He says,
"Paul's arguments carried weight in his day even though they may not necessarily be convincing by today's standards" (p. 135).
Rubel Shelly and John York: John: Or do we read these texts in terms of Paul seeking to insure that the people of Corinth and Ephesus are not prevented from seeing Jesus because males and females in the church are behaving in bizarre ways?
And if indeed the latter is true (i.e., that these texts were intended to illustrate how first-century Christians should behave in ways that would not compromise their witness to world),
what happens today when in our cultural context our worship assemblies are experienced as male-only events?
According to the Chaldean doctrine, Semiramis, the wife of Ninus or Nimrod, when exalted to divinity under the name of the Queen of Heaven, came, as we have seen, to be worshipped as Juno, the "Dove"--in other words, the Holy Spirit incarnate.
Now, the Holy Ghost was idolatrously worshipped in Babylon under the form of a "Dove." Under the same form, and with equal idolatry, the Holy Ghost is worshipped in Rome. Hislop
The TRINITY denies that Jesus of Nazareth was God revealing Himself to the extent humans can see the invisible.
In Revelation 17 it will be the Mother of Harlots ruling the end-time religion as it returns to mother goddess (Zoe) worship. This is marked by effeminate preaching, singing and using the same musical instruments which Lucifer is said to have brought into the garden of Eden. Personified as the king/queen of Tyre she is called "the singing and harp-playing prostitute."John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Matt. 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
In Revelation 17 she uses the "lusted after fruits" or religious performers whom John called sorcerers who HAD deceived the whole world (Rev 18).
Therefore, it was important to make clear that God is a FATHER and not a mother, the one who builds His Name is a SON and not a daughter and His worship will be devoted to the Spirit OF truth in God's Word.
3A. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD AND NOT A "PERSON"
The Spirit OF God is not another God person: Paul will say in 1 Corinthians 2 that
Therefore, the man Jesus of Nazareth was ready to be the Living Word or Son of God.
Luke 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan,
and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Luke 4:2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
Luke 4:3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God,
command this stone that it be made bread.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written,
That man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word of God
It was later in the Synagogue where Jesus went to preach from the WORD of God:
Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Luke 4:18 The Spirit OF the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives,
and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down.
And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luke 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
When the visual aid rested UPON Jesus of Nazareth we do not have another god person inside of Him. Rather, He is filled with the Words of God. Didn't Paul draw a parallelism for the NOT singing passages between being "filled with the Spirit" and using "the Words of Christ?"
4. THE BAPTISMAL FORMULA
Earl Edwards writes quoting Carson saying that "individually" such texts similar to Matthew 28:19 do not prove the doctrine of the Trinity but "contributing evidence makes it difficult to deny the presence of Trinitarian thought in the NT documents: (1) the frequency of the God-Christ-Spirit formulas; (2) their context and use: it is impossible for instance, to image baptism into the nameof God, Christ, and the elect angels; (3) the recognition by NT writers that the attributes of Yahweh may be compresively applied ot Jesus and, so far as we have evidence, to the Spirit."
When three things are equal to one another you do not assume that there are three things. Rather, if Jesus is the prophesied Jehovah- Saves prophesied in the Bible you assume that Jesus FULFILLED as an Image of the invisible all that God wants us to know about the invisible and unknowable. If the "Spirit" is said to do so many things then we should grasp that the "another Comforter" bears the name "Jesus Christ the Righteous."In the so-called Baptismal Formula--not used by Peter--Jesus clearly stated that what we think of as Father, Son and Spirit were all made visible and audible in Jesus of Nazareth. That is to teach us not to look for guidance "beyond the sacred page" or beyond what God wanted to teach in the form of a lowly human.
THAT THIS IS NOT A TRINITARIAN FORMULA TO DIMINISH JESUS THE CHRIST:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Luke 24:46
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in HIS name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:47The Christ of God took on the form of a human, Jesus of Nazareth [Philippians 2]. To deny that Full Deity dwelled in Him is to ask for the charge of anti-Christ. Because we can know nothing about God unless He reveals Himself. The Christ of God is the Image of the invisible, God's Word, His Righteousness and all that he bestows on human kind. As Son He said that the Father was within and that the Spirit had been with the Apostles to the extent that He was present. That is because the classical trinitarian view is that the SON is the WORD of the Singular God when He speaks forth so we can hear Him.
Name: Jesus or Jehovah-Saves Patriarchal Not Matriarchal
Father Not a mother [Sophia] God or Full Deity as: Son Logos Not a daughter. [Zoe]
Holy Spirit Not performers but the Word. THE name (singular) of Father, Son and spirit is Jesus Christ. If ALL power in HEAVEN and EARTH is vested in JESUS CHRIST then HOW MUCH POWER is left over for a PERSON named "the Father" and another person named "The Holy Spirit"?
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt 28:18
Power is:
Ecousia (g1849) ex-oo-see'-ah; from 1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, i.e. (subj.) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (obj.) mastery (concr. magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence: - authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name (singular) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19
Name is:
Onoma (g3686) on'-om-ah; from a presumed der. of the base of 1097 (comp. 3685); a "name" (lit. or fig.) [authority, character]: - called, (/ sur-) name (-d).
The Greek ONOMA or name stands "for all that a name implies, of authority, character, rank, majesty, power, excellence... of everything that the name covers" (Vine, Name, p. 782)
5. EVERYONE WAS BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.
Baptizing in three names on behalf of three "persons" also gave rise to the dogma of the trinity of persons. However,
"The nearest approach to a formal announcement of the doctrine of the Trinity which is recorded from Our Lord's lips, or, perhaps we may say, which is to be found in the whole compass of the NT, has been preserved for us, not by John, but by one of the synoptists. It too, however, is only incidentally introduced, and has for its main object something very different from formulating the doctrine of the Trinity. It is embodied in the great commission which the resurrected Lord gave His disciples to be their 'marching orders even unto the end of the world.' (Int Std Bible Ency., p. 3017)
"It does not say, 'In the names [plural] of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost"; nor yet 'In the name of the Father, and in the name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Ghost,'
as if we had to deal with three separate Beings. (Int Std Bible Ency., p. 3017)
Neither Father, Son or Holy Spirit is a name of God. According to Zechariah His Name would be Jesus or Joshua which means Jehovah-Saves.
And Paul said
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Col 2:9
To baptize in the NAMES of a trinity would denny that the fullness of God dwell in Jesus of Nazareth who was "a body prepared for Me."
Therefore, Paul and the rest of the New Testament baptizes in the name of Jesus Christ. This was continued for many years when three NAMES demanded three BAPTISMS.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
Jesus or Jehovah-- Saves (Joshua in Zechariah) is the name of the SON. The "Father" is named Jehovah-- Righted
The Jews: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for (in order to) the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
The Samaritans: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 8:16
The Gentiles: And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 10:48 (not lords)
Those baptized after Pentecost: When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:5
Apostle Paul: And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16 [This is the clear proof that the "pastor" has no authority to pronounce but Paul was to call on the name consistent with Proselyte baptism]
And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. Ac.22:8
I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Ac.26:9
Romans 6: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
Corinthians: Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Corinthians 1:13
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11
Galatians: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:27
James: Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? James 2:7
6. BUT, DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?
Earl Edwards, FHU and the GA ask whether it is important? In 2 Corinthians 11:4, Paul describes those false teachers who preach "another Jesus whom we have not preached." In Galatians 1:6-8, he speaks forthrightly against thosee who preach "a different gospel: which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. but even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed."
Clearly, for the inspired Paul, any distortion of God's message is serious. to preach a Jesus who is not divine or a Holy Spirit who is not a person or a God who is not in three persons is to preach "another god" who is not the God of the Bible. Such teaching does, indeed matter.
Of interest is that Bible scholars are aware that Paul never speaks of The Holy Spirit as ANOTHER person separated from the Christ or God to Whom the Spirit belongs. The Spirit is almost always the Spirit OF something (anger) or someone: she has a nasty spirit does not mean that she has another "person" either inside or outside
As far as I can determine the views of H. Leo Boles first published in 1942 is the first time in history that anyone ever suggested that the Godhead consisted of three persons so described by Boles and different beings with different skills.
7. ALL OF CHURCH HISTORY CALLS THIS FORM OF TRINITY HERESY.
Paul Tillich
"Baptism was the sacrament of entrance into the church. The baptized person, who at that time, of course, was a pagan adult, had to confess that he would accept the implication of his baptism.
Then he was baptized in the name of Christ.
Later on, the names of God the Father and the Spirit were added.
As yet there were no accompanying explanations; this was faith and liturgy, not yet theology." (Tillich, p. 18-19)"This God is never called a person. The word person was never applied to God in the Middle ages. The reason for this is that the three members of the Godhead were called personae (faces or countenances): The Father is persona, the Son is persona, and the Spirit is persona. Persona here means a special characteristic of the divine ground, expressing itself in an independent hypostasis. Thus, we can say that it was the nineteenth century which made God into a person, with the result that the greatness of the classical idea of God was destroyed by this way of speaking... but to speak of God as a person would have been heretical for the Middle Ages; it would have been to them a Unitarian heresy, because it would have conflicted with the statement that God has three personae, three expressions of his being. (Tillich, Paul, A History of Christian Thought, p. 190)
"The Spirit accompanies the divine Word of the Father, just as the breath (Greek, pneuma; Latin, spiritus) accompanies the word spoken by a man. The three persons do not exist side by side in the divine world. We can compare them to the presence of different fields of knowledge in the mind of an individual: philosophy may be different from medicine, but it does not inhabit a separate sphere of consciousness. The different sciences pervade one another, fill the whole mind and yet remain distinct. (A History of God, Karen Armstrong, p. 117)
By the [1] word of the [2] LORD the heavens were made, and all their host by the [3] breath (h7307 spirit) of his mouth. Ps.33:6
He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle; he put the deeps in storehouses. Psa 33:7
Let all the earth fear the LORD, let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! Ps 33:8For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood forth. Ps 33:9
Because we are made in the image of God we have different expressions but Adam was not created as triplets:
May (1) God himself, the (2) God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of (3) our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Th.5:23
Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: God appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. 1Ti.3:16
