Commands, Examples, Inferences, Biblical Authority

Commands, Examples and Necessary Inferences have always been the way God taught and authorized what He wanted from mankind. These are not LAWS which regulate but which FREE people from stumbling blocks. A necessary inference in the minds of the Restoration Movement came into play when OTHERS attempted to impose some non-Biblical item of faith or practice and demanded that others had to follow. Reformation or Restoration is not a new law but "laws" to be used defensively to allow individuals to free themselves from religious rituals.

When God wants to teach use He has always spoken face to face or mouth to mouth.  It was the Spirit OF Christ which breathed on the prophets to repudiate much of what the Israelites fell into when they rejected the Word of God and turned back to musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. Stephen and many others say that God TURNED THEM OVER to worship the starry host and this is well documented by the prophets.  God defined The Book of the Covenant and DID NOT say, "thou shalt not engage in musical idolatry." Who, in the name of common sense would need such a law?

The people not connected with the civil-military-priestly class were quarantined from this Gentile or Goyim sacrificial system by calling them into assembly as the Qahal or "church in the wilderness." There they were not to be stirred up with "instruments and making a joyful noise before the Lord" which was the warrior's panic music or used for other vital communicating purpose where 'uncertain sounds' could not be made by the common people.

The concept that God's silence is a divine oversight like the "hole in the donut" which He has left for humans to fill in. Of course, we know that the hole has a purpose. If you do what God commands and do not see the need to ENHANCE or improvise then you will never need the authority of "silence" as authority.  If you are repelled at obeying God then you do not follow the example of Jesus Christ.

God has the right to command, example and give evidence from which we might infer: if not, then we take more liberty than we give to God.  A sign, for instance, is
Sêmeion
II. sign, token, indication of anything that is or is to be, 2. in reasoning, a sign or proof, 3. in the Logic of Arist., a sign used as a probable argument in proof of a conclusion, b. in Stoic and Epicurean philos., sign as observable basis of inference to the unobserved or unobservable,

Rubel Shelly says of sillence: It's not a Bible verse. It's a well-worn religious slogan that I think has some very positive value.

What Makes Us Who We Are (5 of 7) A Cappella Music

Rubel Shelly has been a founding father of the "core" gospel which rejects commands, examples, inferences or that there are any "patterns" in the New Testament for the church. We reviewed a sermon at Woodmont Hills, which had as its only "core value" the repudiation of defending the non-instrumental music position.

Rubel Shelly believes and teaches:

Here is what God wants churches passionate about:

(1) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,

(2) that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

(But: The Israelites had to "look upon" the serpent) John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

(3) "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36).

(But: Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.)

(4) "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: (5) While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (6) Since we have now been justified by his blood, (7) how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" (Rom. 5:8-9).

(But: Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.)

These are the essentials of Christian faith. It is this core message about Jesus that we share

in common with other
Bible-believing, cross-proclaiming, resurrection-confessing, born-again persons
that constitutes us a church.

Outside the essence of the gospel,

there are other features that reflect our history and consensus interpretations of the larger biblical message.

When the kingdom did not come as Christ promised those who wrote the Bible went their own ways. John, for instance, hooked up with a Greek philosopher and borrowed the LOGOS concept and used it to explain Jesus Christ. However, either unknown or ignored is the fact that the LOGOS concept begins where John places it: in Genesis. Too bad that scholars miss the fact that DABAR is the Hebrew word.

Rubel Shelly: They had to strain the story of Jesus through philosophical sieves. They had to create and clarify special terms. They made entrance into their circles a matter of "enlightenment" as reflected in peculiar vocabulary and interpretations.

In the meanwhile, the core gospel has survived two millennia now in its narrative form of telling the big story through collections of little ones about Jesus.

Notice that:

The little stories were strained through the Shelly Sifter of philosophy and the Bible writer's personal agenda: these are not TRUTH as the Gospel is TRUTH.

The Big Story or the CORE GOSPEL has survived through these little stories.

Our conclusion: The CORE is no more reliable than the sum of its parts: why should we trust Rubel Shelly's CORE GOSPEL as the TRUTH?

Dr. Shelly defines the narrative form as writers taking the literature and constructing a narrative for their own time, place, theological agenda and by sifting in Greek philosophy.

If this is the Pattern we are th Behold then it becomes easy to just dismiss specific Biblical commands to follow the commands of God and (wink, wink!) tell the paying audience that they don't exist any longer.

The "Core Gospel" Dr. Rubel Shelly and probably most university educated men majoring in about everything but the Bible consists of these seven facts. For some mysterious reason you can believe that God loved the world but you cannot believe that He was competent to back up the gospel or "good news" with Doctrine which means "the teachings of Jesus." Click for some other Patternism Minus the Bible.

The Bible is to be believed about the "core" gospel but the teachings of Jesus, by the apostles and in church history about baptism can be ignored because it is not the self-defined CORE CREED.

How can I be interested in "knowing" Jesus if I have utter contempt for knowing "about" Jesus? Here is the core without the rest of the apple:

1 Cor 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Paul did not say I determined not to PREACH anything among you. To KNOW Christ means that Paul abandoned his own rights and preaching philosophy and preached the Gospel by his life BECAUSE the people were carnal and most unable to eat the "meat" of the Word as the "perfected."

Well, that certainly leaves out baptism and any instructions about a new form of "singing" which is antithetical to the pagan wineskin singing with instruments. Or does it?

1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Paul preached the "core" gospel because that is what you preach until people are willing to die to self and submit. Paul called that the "milk" of the Word. The Corinthians never grasped the "core" and therefore remained carnal:

1 Cor 3:1 AND I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Therefore, those who claim just the "core" probably have not gotten beyond the core and have crucified themselves with Christ. Therefore, they are carnal and there is no "meat of the Word" in them to preach to you. However, the new "milk" of the word to show contempt for people and leave them in the dark is called: "Chicken Soup for the Soul."

The "core" theology shows that Paul nor Christ speaks to them because they just skipped Paul's statement about TEACHING:

1 Cor 2:1 AND I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring [preaching] unto you the testimony OF God.

AND there s come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isaiah 11:1
And the
spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; Isaiah 11:2

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: Isaiah 11:3

But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Zechariah 7:11
They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the
law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry. Zechariah 7:12

Therefore it is come to pass, that

as he cried, and they would not hear;
so
they cried, and I would not hear,
saith the Lord of hosts: Zechariah 7:13

2 Cor. 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
2 Cor. 3:16 Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
2 Cor. 3:17
Now the Lord IS that Spirit: and where the Spirit OF the Lord is, there is liberty.
2 Cor. 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1 Pe 1:11

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Rev 19:10

So, Paul did not say: "I preach only Christ and Him crucified but I preach the whole counsel of God." My "knowing Christ" defines my qualification for a competent preacher: I am willing to be sacrificed.

Churches of Christ do not follow either the Bible or Restoration Movement beliefs by binding "inferences" which are subject to human reasoning.

However, Necessary Inference is a first requirement for grasping God:

The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. Psalm 97:6
For the
invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;
so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:20

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Romans 1:21

Those who cannot infer God from His creation are not likely to listen to His words.

Theophilus of Antioch to Autolycus wrote:

Chapter V.-The Invisible God Perceived Through His Works.

For as the soul in man is not seen, being invisible to men, but is perceived through the motion of the body,
..........so
God cannot indeed be seen by human eyes,
..........but is beheld and perceived through His providence and works.

For, in like manner, as any person, when he sees a ship on the sea rigged and in sail, and making for the harbour,

will no doubt infer that there is a pilot in her who is steering her; so we must perceive that God is the governor [pilot] of the whole universe, though He be not visible to the eyes of the flesh, since He is incomprehensible.

For if a man cannot look upon the sun, though it be a very small heavenly body, on account of its exceeding heat and power, how shall not a mortal man be much more unable to face the glory of God, which is unutterable?

Therefore, the whole knowledge about God is revealed in propositional truth or it is inferred from His Works.

However, in meeting on the first day of the Week to "break bread" or to "lay by in store" (even if at home) we have the only examples the Bible gives us. We might use the law of inference to say that God DID NOT say: "Don't take the Lord's Supper anyother day." With this inference from silence in hand we decide to eat the Lord's Supper on, say, the Sabbath (before sunset Saturday).

By this inference which overrides the clear Biblical example and the historical imitation of this practice with no Sabbath worship, we BIND this practice on anyone who chooses to meet with us.

On the contrary, we might say that:

> The in the yearly FESTIVALS for muster age males, both the FIRST DAY and the SEVENTH DAY was for REST and a Holy Convocation. Animal sacrifices were held in between. REST never meant worship so we don't LOOK for rules of worship on the first and seventh day. The REST was to quarantine the people of God from the BABYLONIAN worship which God granted as His answer to their prayer when they engaged in MUSICAL IDOLATRY at Mount Sinai.

The Holy Convocation boiled down to READING the Word of God.

> Jesus died to relieve us from the CLERGY BURDEN which was "spiritual anxiety created by religious ritual." The first day was again for REST and both Jesus and Paul PEELS the clergy off the backs of people. Jesus invited the twos and threes to "come learn of me." Therefore, the Bible and history shows that the HOLY CONVOCATION or assembly (synagoguing) was to GIVE HEED to the Word as Paul's only worship word.

> Therefore, first day assembly does not violate the Sabbath. Church assemblies can be the most "works intensive" day of the week.

Furthermore, "worship" on the Sabbath would violate the Sabbath in the modern sense because we couldn't drive to church and assuredly push stuck autos out of a snowed-in parking lot. Most assuredly the HOLY CONVOCATION outlawed calling priests or prophets or other CEREMONIALLY LEGALISTIC parasites defined as rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents), singers and musicians. One exception--if you plan to CRUCIFY and MUSICIALLY MOCK Jesus while He is trying to teach you.

The use of instrumental music is based on silence: "God didn't say, 'Thou shalt not use mechanical instruments'." The inference is that silence is divine authority.

By this inference form silence we overide the clear commandment of Paul who defines one of the "allowable instruments" or the human voice and heart. We bind this inference upon anyone who must meet with us on our terms.

Compare Bill Bright's Four Spiritual Laws. He left out a few also.

1. God loves you

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

2. Man is sinful and separated from God.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23); "For the wages of sin is death" (Rom. 6:23);

"But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God" (Isaiah 59:2).

3. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin.

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6); "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8)

4. We must individually receive Jesus as Savior and Lord.
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12);

"if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved" (Rom. 10:9);

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8).
The MASK they hide about is patternism or denying that God has the right to command people. However, the FACE behind the mask is that it is NOT a method of interpretation but the fact that they DENY the inspiration of the Bible. That gives them the "spirit" to do what they deny God the power to do.

Leroy Garrett stated an earlier pattern:

"This is to say that the gospel is not the whole of the New Testament scriptures,..........
..........for the gospel was a reality long before the scriptures were written.

Strictly speaking, the teachings of the apostles are not facts, as the gospel is,
but interpretations, implications, and edification based on the gospel.
In this area, that of the didache (teaching) even the apostles differed in their ideas and emphases.
The churches for whom these documents were written were likewise
different from each other.

Garrett goes on to define the "gospel" as something revealed but not subject to debate but:

The doctrine allows for debate and dialogue, for intellectual stimulation and the stretching of the mind. It nurtures us in Christ,

but in such a way that each man develops according to his own uniqueness. The pragmatic mind as well as the speculative mind finds food for thought. Its design is (not) to make us all alike in our thinking, but to make us mature in Christ.

So, we have the "oral gospel" which was in effect before the "graphe," and the seven ones defined above are the only things which we can use to accept or reject fellowship.

All of the rest of the Bible is just pre-post-modern understandings of the apostle-prophets opinions or interpretations. That means "uninspired" to this writer.

The Post-Modern "hermeneutic" of the Latter Rain (or Latter Reign) asks:

"Are you having difficulty discerning or receiving this "new revelation"?

Then you have been interpreting your Bible in the "old way,"
comparing Scripture with Scripture,
studying diligently to account for every jot and tittle
and being careful to
rightly divide the Word of truth.

"If this describes you, then you belong to the "Old Generation"

which will not enter in to "possess the land" in the Latter Rain Revival.
You may even be a
member of a denominational church, with its dogmatic confession of faith and statement of doctrine.
These
legalistic forms will be relics of the past in the up and coming "Post-denominational Church."

Paul Cain advises that you "dump all that carnal stuff" (doctrine)

and listen to what the "spirit" is saying to the churches through the Latter Rain Prophets and Apostles,
who are
dispensing many "new, sacred truths.

Rubel continues to repudiate the ONLY means of determining authority for faith and practice unless guided by a direct operation of God. However, we will show that the disparaged methods of understanding authority were those taught by the Word of God and by all historical scholars other than the liberties taken by the Catholic church and her daughters.

Rubel Shelly: The truth be told, the Bible's "silence" on a subject is most often ambiguous rather than either prohibitive or concessive. What one is willing to allow or quick to oppose is, I fear, due more to taste and temperament than to any clear application of the following cherished dictum: "Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent."

One doubts that God is
ever ambiguous in addition to being prohibitive or concessive. If He doesn't care one way or another He probably is silent.

Rubel Shelly: But hold on! Where did that dictum come from?

It's not a Bible verse. It's a well-worn religious slogan that I think has some very positive value.

All of God's Word is
pretty old but unfortunately, based on most sermons, not very worn! Whatever the Incarnate God of the universe says should be important and will be vitally important to those whose light has not been put out:
Why then, when they have invented on their part unscriptural phrases,
for the purposes of irreligion,
do they accuse those who are religious in their use of them

For irreligiousness is utterly forbidden, though it be attempted to disguise it with artful expressions and plausible sophisms; but religiousness is confessed by all to be lawful, even though presented in strange phrases , provided only they are used with a religious view, and a wish to make them the expression of religious thoughts. Now the aforesaid grovelling phrases of Christ's enemies have been shewn in these remarks to be both formerly and now replete with irreligion; whereas the definition of the Council against them, if accurately examined, will be found to be altogether a representation of the truth, and especially if diligent attention be paid to the occasion which gave rise to these expressions, which was reasonable, and was as follows:-

19. The Council wishing to do away with the irreligious phrases of the Arians, and to use instead the acknowledged words of the Scriptures, Athanasius in 346 and his flight in 356, De Decretis or Defence of the Nicene Definition
So, let's put some wear on some of the "slogans" from the voice of the Spirit of Christ (1 Peter 1:11) as HE formulated the slogan which I take as a command.

Balaam demonstrated a high ethical standard when he said:

'Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold,.

I could not do anything of my own accord, good or bad,
to go beyond the command of the LORD--
and I must say only what the LORD says'? Num 24:13

It seems to this reviewer that to demand that we find a command or "paradigm" about how to interpret "commands, examples and inferences" may be legalistic. However, because God is there and He is not silent let's look at some examples in the old "written" Word:

Deuteronomy Slogan

Rubel Shelly, Leroy Garret and Latter Rains insists that there is no command, example or inference about "command, examples or inferences." If we find one then these people are teaching error. Rubel sees the Exodus as a "pattern foor worship and community" but the Bible and all but modern theology sees it as a people rising up to play in musical idolatry, losing the Book of the Covenant and burdened with the Book of the Law. Paul in 2 Corinthians 3 says that the unbelievers were DEAF AND BLIND and so could not listen to God until they turned to Christ.

God promised that in contending for the faith in the time of Jesus:

For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. Deut 18:14

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; Deut 18:15

According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly,
saying,
Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. Deut 18:16

And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. Deut 18:17

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. Deut 18:18

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. Deut 18:19

But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name,

which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods,
even
that prophet shall die. Deut 18:20

Jesus honored the Law of Silence. The term "Son" is defined as the faithful WORDS of the "Father." Jesus identified a son of the Devil as a liar because "he speaks on his own."

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. Jn.12:49

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. Jn.12:50

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends;

for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Jn.15:15

If the revelation of Jesus even to the prophets (1 Pet 1:11; Rev 19:10) is not AN APPROVED EXAMPLE to speak only what has been revealed then a different Jesus is being spoken. Jesus identified the Devil as a SON of his father because "he speaks on his own."

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Matt 12

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Matt 13

Therefore, if Christ is not speaking to you through His Words it is because you have declared yourself a mortal enemy to the quiet Spiritual truth: that is the MARK or supernatural sign seen in pompous self-speak.

Lucky we don't stone prophets anymore because those who pretend to be doctors of the law and claim to speak with authority and deliberately or ignorantly misteach, are presumptious prophets and perhaps have already died spiritually.

So, if commands, examples and inferences (how else would God teach?) are not good enough for the NEW prophet they were still good enough for Jesus!

Paul insisted that the "elders teach the Word as it had been delivered to them." Therefore, there was no command, example or inference that one could be hired to refuse to listen to the Word and spend all week composing (or stealing) a sermon outline which just thides the truth.

First Samuel Slogan

Those wanting to get on the Fried Chicken Trail with nothing to offer but the "core" would just not go away in the mind of God because:

I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind (Spirit). I will firmly establish his house, and he will minister before my anointed one always. 1 Samuel 2:35

Then everyone left in your family line will come and bow down before him for a piece of silver and a crust of bread and plead, "Appoint me to some priestly office so I can have food to eat. 1 Samuel 2:36

> The people did not obey Moses who spoke the Book of the Covenant to the people. They took the oath but as soon as Moses went back to get the written "seventy rules or enabling legislation" the people fell back into musical idolatry. The Covenant was a covenant of grace.

> As a result, God gave The Book of the Law whose 413 precepts "were not good because they could not be perfectly kept." One who is going to live under the Law of Moses had better be prepared, according to James, "not to even show partiality" or the whole weight of the law will fall on their head. The Law was a book of legalism.

> The Book of the Law of Moses which contained laws "in addition" to the Covenant of life was to regulate lawless people and not to save them. The ordinances were for external and not internal purposes.

> Therefore, when the New Prophet came, He fulfilled but did not enforce the Law of Moses but had men like Paul leapfrog the Law and return to the Covenant of Abraham.

> Therefore, the prophet like Moses had something radically new to teach.

The "family" name is not "God" but Jesus, Joshua or Jehovah Saves. The word "Christ" or the anointed one is also applied to Him and the church being Christ's church has been known down through history as the church of Christ. Jesus is Greek rather than Hebrew.

Isaiah Eight Slogan

And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits (Old, empty wineskins), and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter (these people used musical devices and said that the gods lived inside of them): should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? Isaiah 8:19

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word,
it is
because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

At baptism a taught believer asks God for a new conscience or consciousness: the ability to be a co-percepter with Christ and be able to comprehend His Word and See His Light. If one does not return to the "word as it has been taught" then they are just making up their own scripture.

Wouldn't this mean: "Speak where the Word speaks and (implied) be silent where the Word is silent?" Sounds good to me. Perhaps God was just judgmental.

The "law" against speaking where God has not spoken is restated many times and is twofold:

First, the Word of God is inspired by the Spirit of Christ. If you speak where God has been silent then you put yourself above God, you speak of yourself, and Jesus defines such a one as a devil.

Second, if you don't let the Word lie where God placed it and permit latter-day prophets to "fill in the blanks" which "God overlooked" you open up the floodgate for all of the Satans to speak of their father.

The peepers and mutterers used the familiar spirit. This was an old, empty wineskin or, in Paul's day, the more sophisticated sounding brass and tinkling cymbals. By speaking into the echoing wineskin the witch disguised her own voice and sold it to the public for a price. Isn't most performance singing with mics and amps just disguising their voices so that the peeps and mutters overpowers the "audience?"

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Is.58:13

13. Shall the Church have two heads, or the woman two husbands? Who will not fear to set himself head with the Lord?

14. That Jesus is the only law-giver, is evident from what hath been said, and what I will add. James, the apostle, saith: "Be ye doers of the word. Fulfill the royal law." Look into the perfect law of liberty. "We have one law-giver."

15. Let Paul speak: "Do we make void the law through faith? No, we establish the law." "We are under the law of Christ." What more do we wish?

Isaiah 29 Slogan

To the Preachers:

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: Isaiah 29:11

(Isn't that what the critics have said: God Incarnate taught the oral gospel but all of the written documents are law codes based upon the mininterpretation of apostles in conflict?)

To the elders:

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Isaiah 29:12

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me,
and their fear toward me is
taught by the precept of men: Isaiah 29:13 (to the tune of a hickory stick or an oxgoad)

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder:

> for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
> and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Isaiah 29:14
Paul lined up ALL religious operatives as pagan or Jewish religionism which Jesus came to put down: salvation according to Peter includes being saved FROM this crooked generation.  See more comments on First Corinthians where Paul always establishes the paganism which is destroyed.

For it is written, I will
destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1 Cor 1:19

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?1Co.1:20

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God
by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1 Cor 1:21

The law of common sense and silence says that God did not send out THEATRICAL PERFORMERS to save those who were pleased. God preaches only when the evangelist takes the gospel out as a herald.

Jesus said that people's worship is vain or empty if they "teach for doctrine the commands of men." Now, doesn't that demand that we listen to the commands of Jesus and those whom He as Spirit inspired? Is vain worship contrary to the Gospel (good news?). For this reason, Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables to hide the truth from those who did not love the truth.

These people who preach a "core" gospel and ridicule the three forms God used to communicate His will (commands, examples, inferences) are talking behind God's back and talking against Him. And, lo, God explaines them by the example of the spiritual prostitute. Be aware that the Prophets were not legalists but they opposed the Priests who largely ignored the commands of God which were given for their own protection and never for their spiritual salvation:

Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls (just broke them down) and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, (grand meetings) every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord. Ezekiel 33:30

(The Lord, to them, was one of themselves pretending to be a prophet)
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people,
and they hear thy words, but they will not do them:
<> for with their mouth they shew much love,
but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezekiel 33:31

And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song (amourous love song) of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. Ezekiel 33:32

See the parallelism
? listen to words but don't do them because they aren't part of the "core." This parallels listeing to mouth religion exuding "loovveee."
> The mouth worship is parallel to playing a musical instrument.
> The search for money or attendance is parallel to hearing the words but not doing them.

Surely the removal of doctrine, speaking against God by claiming that the squabbling apostles were involved in their own interpretation and forming waring churches, the introduction of female musicians and singers clearly connected to temple-building and reputation-building is God at work:

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Isaiah 29:14

Isaiah 58 Slogan

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him,

not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own
pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words: Isaiah 58:13

Jeremiah Slogan

Jesus fired the "doctors of the law" and sent simple people out into the world with the Gospel. He knew that the doctors would be too concerned with "hermeneutics" and would just take away the key to knowledge. To keep the people from catching on, the doctors of the law concocted "bread and circus" type rituals and even turned the Feast of Tabernacles into a talent fair for book sellers, poets, musicians, and preachers. The "burden" of the clergy laded on the backs of the people was "spiritual anxiety created by religious ceremony." This sermon being reviewed says nothing about the "core gospel" but seeks to lade the people down with hatred of anyone who would question the use of instruments as the most powerful "burden" creator. But God is listen.

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. Jeremiah 23: 25
How long shall this be in the
heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Jeremiah 23: 26

Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. Jeremiah 23: 27

The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream;
and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully.
What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the Lord. Jeremiah 23: 28

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23: 29

Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Jeremiah 23: 30 (giant Jubilee festivals?)

Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. Jeremiah 23: 31

Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 23: 32

Jeremiah then prophesies about the burdens which the clergy will try to lade upon people.

Massa (h4853) mas-saw'; from 5375; a burden; spec. tribute, or (abstr.) porterage; fig. an utterance, chiefly a doom, espec. singing; mental, desire: - burden, carry away, prophecy, they set, song, tribute.

Nasa (h5375) naw-saw' to lift, burn, carry away, cast, contain, desire, ease, exact, exalt (self), extol, lade, lay, lift self up,

David's "praise" was similar:

Halal (h1984) haw-lal'; a prim. root; to be clear (orig. of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causat. to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (- ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad, give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.

The king of Tyre who came equipped with musical instruments burdened people often by the use of the King who is identified as a prostitute as Lucifer (light, shine) was gender-confused:

THE burden (song) of Tyre. Howl (unnatural tone), ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them. Is.23:1

At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king's life. But at the end of these seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute: Is.23:15

The "song of the prostitute" is:

"Take up a harp, walk through the city, O prostitute forgotten; play the harp well, sing many a song, so that you will be remembered." Is.23:16

Jeremiah continues to prophesy of those just laying burdens on people by deliberately dividing them from their non-instrumental families:

Look again and hear Ezekiel's parallel and see that the burden was the musical prostitutes:

Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls (just broke them down) and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, (grand meetings) every one to his brother,

saying, Come, I pray you, and hear
what is the word that
cometh forth from the Lord. Ezekiel 33:30
And they come unto thee as the people cometh,
and they sit before thee as my people,
and they hear thy words,
but they will not do them:
for with their mouth they shew much love,
but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezekiel 33:31

And, lo, thou art unto them
as a very lovely song (amourous love song)
of one that hath a pleasant voice,
and can play well on an instrument:
for they hear thy words,
but they do them not. Ezekiel 33:32

Now, look at Jeremiah speaking of the same "seekers" who will no longer be tolerated:

And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the Lord? thou shalt then say unto them,

What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 23: 33

And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say,
The burden (song) of the Lord,
I will even punish that man and his house. Jeremiah 23: 34
Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour,
and every one to his brother,
What hath the Lord answered? and,
What hath the Lord spoken? Jeremiah 23: 35

And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more;

for every mans word shall be his burden (song):
for
ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God. Jeremiah 23:36

A burden is:

Massa (h4853) mas-saw'; from 5375; a burden; spec. tribute, or (abstr.) porterage; fig. an utterance, chiefly a doom, espec. singing; mental, desire: - burden, carry away, prophecy, * they set, song, tribute.

Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters, Eze.24:25

THE burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Zech 12:1

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. Zech 12:2

And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. Zech 12:3

Ro.15:1 WE then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to PLEASE ourselves.

The burden in Greek includes:

We believe that this shows that the false prophets, were replacing the Words of God with musical performance right out of the "places." The comparison shows that music and perverting the Word are the same thing because they appeal to people who just don't care what God says beyond His little, allowable core.

The Christian result was that the wineskin performers were not allowed but were replaced by non-performers speaking the Words of Christ one to another.

To deny that God Incarnate has any words beyond those spoken to the first people as the "gospel" is to pervert the words of the living God: Jesus is still living and is the Spirit in His Word.

In habbakuk 2:19-20 the people tried to get their idols (often musical devices) to speak to them. However, the prophet said: "But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him." You see, that passage and 1 Corinthians 14 includes women as well as men who are not inspired! See more below about the harp from which the people of Ur got their message from the gods.

This is why Jesus fired the clergy who are still fully occupied in laying burdens on people -- such as mentally conditioning them to see the non-use of instruments in worship and trying to warn people as guilty of every word one can possibly garner in one Phd quest.

The honest evangelist will be faithful to the Word.

The Hebrews Slogan

THEREFORE we ought to give the more earnest heed (honor or worship) to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Hebrews 2:1

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; Hebrews 2:2

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Hebrews 2:3

God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will (pattern)? Hebrews 2:4

The Peter Slogan

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 2 Peter 1:18

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21

As Jesus fired the "doctors of the Law" for taking away the key to knowledge, Peter warned preachers or "mediators" for all times that they have no right to explicate or applicate the inspired Words of the Spirit of Christ (1 Pet 1:11) without endangering their own souls and the souls   of the church for which Christ died. Private interpretation is really contemporary preaching:

Epilusis (g1955)ep-il'-oo-sis; from 1956; explanation, i.e. application: - interpretation.

Epiluo (g1956) ep-ee-loo'-o; from 1909 and 3089; to solve further, i.e. (fig.) to explain, decide: - determine, expound.

That means that no book writer, preacher or presumed prophet can add one bit to the free Word (Isaiah 55:1f). How then is the Word to be used. Well remember the context:

So, we have commands, examples and inferences from God and we have anyone who would assign it to just the interpretation of waring apostles is in trouble.

The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians: also called Ignatius Theophoros (Greek: "God Bearer") bishop of Antioch, Syria, born in Syria, around the year 50; died at Rome between 98 and 117. Ignatius introduced the practice of alternating sections of the church chanting the Word. Ignatius d. c 110

Chapter IX.-Ye Have Given No Heed to False Teachers.

Nevertheless, I have heard of some who have passed on from this to you, having false doctrine, whom ye did not suffer to sow among you, but stopped your ears, that ye might not receive those things which were sown by them, as being stones 58 of the temple of the Father, prepared for the building of God the Father, and drawn up on high by the instrument of Jesus Christ, which is the cross, 59 making use of the Holy Spirit as a rope, while your faith was the means by which you ascended, and your love the way which led up to God.

Ye, therefore, as well as all your fellow-travellers, are God-bearers, temple-bearers, Christ-bearers, bearers of holiness, adorned in all respects with the commandments of Jesus Christ, in whom also I exult that I have been thought worthy, by means of this Epistle, to converse and rejoice with you, because with respect to your Christian life ye love nothing but God only.

Nevertheless, I have heard of some who have passed in among you, holding the wicked doctrine of the strange and evil spirit; to whom ye did not allow entrance to sow their tares, but stopped your ears that ye might not receive that error which was proclaimed by them,

as being persuaded that that spirit which deceives the people does not speak the things of Christ, but his own, for he is a lying spirit.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Jn. 8:44

But the Holy Spirit does not speak His own things, but those of Christ, and that not from himself, but from the Lord; even as the Lord also announced to us the things that He received from the Father.

For, says He, "the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's, who sent Me.
And says He of the Holy Spirit, "He shall
not speak of Himself, but whatsoever things He shall hear from Me."

And He says of Himself to the Father, "I have," says He, "glorified Thee upon the earth; I have finished the work which, Thou gavest Me; I have manifested Thy name to men." And of the Holy Ghost, "He shall glorify Me, for He receives of Mine."

But the spirit of deceit preaches himself, and speaks his own things, for he seeks to please himself. He glorifies himself, for he is full of arrogance.

He is lying, fraudulent, soothing, flattering, treacherous, rhapsodical, trifling, inharmonious, verbose, sordid, and timorous.

From his power Jesus Christ will deliver you, who has founded you upon the rock, as being chosen stones, well fitted for the divine edifice of the Father, and who are raised up on high by Christ, who was crucified for you, making use of the Holy Spirit as a rope, and being borne up by faith, while exalted by love from earth to heaven, walking in company with those that are undefiled.

For, says [the Scripture], "Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord." Now the way is unerring, namely, Jesus Christ. For, says He, "I am the way and the life." And this way leads to the Father.

For "no man," says He, "cometh to the Father but by Me." Blessed, then, are ye who are God-bearers, spirit-bearers, temple-bearers, bearers of holiness, adorned in all respects with the commandments of Jesus Christ, being "a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people," on whose account I rejoice exceedingly, and have had the privilege, by this Epistle, of conversing with "the saints which are at Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus." I rejoice, therefore, over you, that ye do not give heed to vanity, and love nothing according to the flesh, but according to God.

Chapter XV.-Exhortation to Confess Christ by Silence as Well as Speech.

It is better for a man to b
