Brandon Fredenburg DEBUNKS the Prophets. He says that the gospel taught by Jesus is more graceful

We want, out of charity, to say that the Doctors of the Law are Biblically Illiterate.  However, Jesus in His STATE of Holy Spirit has Paul in Ephesians 4 say of the cunning craftsmen or SOPHISTS-speakers,singers, instrument players- are LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE so thaht the Assembly as School Only can possibly take place.

Brandon Fredenburg: I’m afraid the title is more ambitious than my few paragraphs offer. To make my task more manageable, I offer a few idea-starters about the gospel as taught by Jesus, Paul, and the early church bishop, Athanasius.

The gospel Jesus taught

In contrast to Matthew’s and Mark’s summary of Jesus’s “gospel of God” (Mark 1:14), Luke 4:18–19 depicts Jesus preaching selectively from Isaiah 61:1–2:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

He has anointed me
to evangelize the poor.

He has sent me
to declare liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set free the broke(n) with a full release,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (my translation).

Jesus sets US free from Priests or Levites when He called HYPOCRITES by reference to Isaiah 29 and Ezekiel 36

The Spirit which later informed Jesus is God's Holy Spirit

Is. 61:1 The SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me;
         because the Lord hath anointed me to PREACH good tidings unto the MEEK;
        he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
        to proclaim LIBERTY to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Is. 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
        and the day of VENGEANCE  of our God;
        to comfort all that mourn;

Matt. 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
Matt. 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth,
        and honoureth me with their lips;
        but their heart is far from me.
Matt. 15:9 But in vain they do worship me,

        teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Liberty excludes priests or Levites, preachers of instrument players USED to induce KOMA or make the lambs dumb before the slaughter.

SPIRIT is never a god or person: it is a PARABLE word to HIDE from the wise meaning preachers, singers or instrument players. God IS competent: He puts His WORDS (regulative principle) into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and LASTLY the Man Jesus of Nazareth who He ANOINTED and SANCTIFIED and sent.

Brandon Fredenburg: When Jesus OMITS “and the day of our God’s VENGEANCE” (Isa 61:2b)
        AND rehearses God’s blessing of a foreign widow and an enemy general, he turns the gospel of God his hearers expect inside out. “

Is. 61:1 The SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me;
         because the Lord hath anointed me

CONDEMNATION: The Prophets defined Jesus' teaching both inclusively and exclusively.  Preachers and Singers REPUDIATE the Prophets.

Luke 4:24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No PROPHET is accepted in his own country.
Is. 61:4 And they shall build the OLD WASTES, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Brandon Fredenburg: Perhaps this is why Jesus begins his evangelizing with the word “repent.” Apparently, even John the Baptist missed it, as Matthew 11:1–15 makes clear. Jesus says

The MULTITUDES were ignorant then and now.

Matt. 11:7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the MULTITUDES concerning John,
        What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
Matt. 11:8 But what went ye out for to see?

Brandon Fredenburg: Apparently, even John the Baptist missed it

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of REPENTANCE for the remission of sins.
Luke 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of
REPENTANCE for the remission of sins;
Acts 13:24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of
REPENTANCE to all the people of Israel.
Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of
        saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time

Matt. 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Matt. 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

Matt. 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Matt. 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
Matt. 11:20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they REPENTED not

Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until
        now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence,

If you had performing singers with or without instruments you are the victim of sacred violence. The role of the "Doctors of the Law" is to take away the key to knowledge. Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites and Christ in Ezekiel 33 named slick speakers, singers, instrument players and a stupified "audience."

The Crooked Race we are to save outselves is the Greek Word "Aluo."

This sacred violence involved in all superstitious rituals is caused by FEAR that you haven't worked hard enough. In pagan religionism this FEAR or anxiety or mental excitement is created by the enemy of Christ and is hostile to Christ.

5.4 The revelation of the cross of Christ thus begins a process in history of the progressive unveiling of sacred, sanctioned violence. The Resurrection is not just the survival but the permanent establishment of the victim's experience in history. The satanic interpretation of collective violence, which is the interpretation of the perpetrators of that violence, is now forever challenged by the victim's perspective on that violence. Sacred, or sanctioned, violence is unveiled as violence.

5.4.1 The unveiling of sacred violence, however, has the more immediate consequence of taking away humanity’s only bulwark against ‘bad’ mimetic violence, thus resulting in the potential for increasing that brand of violence.

5.4.2 Moreover, the satanic powers' hold on humanity won't go away that easily. Their attempts at veiled sacred violence become more desperate and generally more lethal. The satanic powers can take advantage of the fact that humankind has never really known any other way to stem the tide of 'bad' violence. It is like an addiction. In fact, the mechanism of sacred violence is similar to taking drugs. The Greek word, pharmakos, that we might best translate as "scapegoat" (because it designated one who was expelled from the community), is obviously related to the Greek word for "drug," pharmakon.

Rev. 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Rev. 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft [all religious parasites] he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
Rev. 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries [
pharmakos] were all nations deceived.

The idea is the same behind both. A drug is a poison that, given the right circumstance and precisely the right dosage, can also be a remedy. Sacred violence is a violence -- and violence is ordinarily poisonous to us -- that, given the right circumstance and precisely the right dosage, can also be a remedy against 'bad' mimetic violence. (See my sermon for Epiphany 7B 2003 for more on pharmakos.)

John 18 the sorceriers or Pharmakos are speakers, singers and instrument players who HAD DECEIVED the whole world.

Yet addiction builds as the system builds immunity to the drug. Addiction to sacred violence can escalate as the Gospel immunity to it builds within our systems

5.4.2 Behind the anthropological predilections against the victim's perspective, there is a very practical, quasi-historical reason: namely, the victim is shunned and often killed. In the ancient world, the role of music during ritual sacrifice was often to drown out any cries from the victim. (45) It is crucial that the victim not be heard. The practical mechanics of making victims means that it is unusual for the victim's perspective to survive. In the world of ancient ritual it was probably impossible.45. The Greek verb myo means to close the mouth or shut the eyes. There is debate about whether myo plays a crucial role in the etymology of other significant words such as myth, mystery, and even music. These etymologies make sense within the Girardian hypotheses. Myth means to close ourselves to the victim and tell the tale according to the perpetrator's perspective; mystery cults are based on the silence of the victims; music derives from drowning out the voice of the victim.

3466. musth/rion musterion, moos-tay´-ree-on; from a derivative of mu/w muo (to shut the mouth); a secret or “mystery” (through the idea of silence imposed by initiation into religious rites): — mystery

They will always try to SILENCE the Word of God.

Brandon Fredenburg those who even barely grasp his message have far greater insight than John. John’s gospel of violent, fiery judgment, it seems, put him at odds with Jesus’s view of the nature of the kingdom of the heavens.

Matt. 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matt. 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matt. 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

Brandon Fredenburg “Repent,” then, as Jesus uses it, retains its core meaning of “shift your paradigm” with reference to God and God’s kingdom.

NO, it means SHIFT your attitude and CONDUCT.
This is God's PATTERN
Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, EXCEPT ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luke 13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but,
EXCEPT ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and be BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Brandon Fredenburg For John, repentance focused on the personal sacrifices required for holiness;
        for Jesus, repentance kept its eyes on the merciful nature of God toward all persons (Exod. 34:5–7; Jonah 4:2b).
        “For I delight in mercy but not sacrifice; and in knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings” (Hos. 6:6, my translation).

Ex. 34:5  And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there,
        and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
Ex. 34:6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed,
        The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Ex. 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,
        and that will by no means clear the guilty;
        visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children,
        unto the third and to the fourth generation.
Ex. 34:12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
Ex. 34:13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
Ex. 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Ex. 34:15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;

Hos. 6:5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets;
        I have slain them by the words of my mouth:
        and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
Hos. 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice;
        and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Brandon Fredenburg Jesus’s gospel is about his Father and his Father’s nature.

No, Jesus objects: The Gospel of the Kingdom is concerning the CHURCH OF CHRIST

Col. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the CHURCH: who is the beginning,
        the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Matt. 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock
        I will build my CHURCH; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matt. 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the KINGDOM of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven

Col. 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
        and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Col. 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Col. 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col. 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Col. 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Matt. 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,
        REPENT: for the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is at hand.
Matt. 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,
        and preaching the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people

Rom. 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL OF CHRIST
        for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
         to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Eph. 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger,
        nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
        hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Eph. 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person,
        nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
        hath any inheritance in the KINGDOM of CHRIST and of God.

    Acts 28:31 Preaching the KINGDOM OF GOD, and teaching those things
            with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Col.1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Col.1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his bodys sake, which is the church:

Matt. 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,
        and preaching the
GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM,, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Matt. 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matt. 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! [Self-authored preachers, singers, instrument players]
         for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Matt. 24:14 And this
GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matt. 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God:
        but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
Mark 4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive;
        and hearing they may hear, and not understand;
        lest at any time they should be converted, [Baptized]
        AND their sins should be forgiven them.

Th. 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us,
        when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2Th. 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance
        on them that know not God,
        and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th. 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
        and from the glory of his power;
2Th. 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints,
        and to be admired in all them that believe
        (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Brandon Fredenburg The Father’s nature was so misunderstood, Jesus claims no one but he knows the Father (Matt. 11:27). He then immediately invites those wearied and burdened by compromised gospels of God to come to him for rest, to take on the easy, restful yoke of learning as a disciple of his gentle humility and light burden. “No one knows the Father except the Son”:

not John the Baptist, not the Pharisees or the scribes, not Moses or Elijah, not Jesus’s disciples, no one except he … and his post-resurrection disciples. The Father is known rightly and fully only through his Son (Heb. 1:1–3b).

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. In the Ezekiel 33 example Christ named speakers, singers and instrument players.  Almost always they performed for the burden or "a tax not in time of war."  Christ in Isaiah 55 says that we should not be burdened by using our food money for the free water of the Word. Now, all theatrical and musical performers feel a bit inspired and they think that we should put the same value on them. However, religious performers especially sacrificial musicians were called parasites.

We are all tired from making a living and need a day of REST.  There is no role for an institution to consume all of your rest time and all of your "spare" money for which there is "no law of tithing or giving." The Church of Christ (the Rock) outlawed vocal or instrumental rejoicing or rhetoric when the Word was PREACHED on the REST DAY by being READ. No one needs paid fellowship on Friday Night!

Alter your wings' course; go to the Delian lake; if you do not obey, you will steep your lovely melody in blood. Pindar, Isthmian 2.[1] The men of old, Thrasybulus, who mounted the chariot of the Muses with their golden headbands, joining the glorious lyre, lightly shot forth their honey-voiced songs for young men, if one was handsome and had [5] the sweetest ripeness that brings to mind Aphrodite on her lovely throne. [6] For in those days the Muse was not yet a lover of gain, nor did she work for hire. And sweet gentle-voiced odes did not go for sale, with silvered faces, from honey-voiced Terpsichore. But as things are now, she bids us heed [10] the saying of the Argive man, which comes closest to actual truth: [11] “Money, money makes the man,” he said, when he lost his wealth and his friends at the same time
